  • In this paper, An X-band solid state power amplifier(SSPA) for pulse compressed microwave signal with 60Watt power and power added efficiency(PAE) above 30% is described. Designed 60Watt high power amplifier(HPA) was implemented by cascade coupled amplifiers, and it is consisted on three stage drive amplifiers with internally matched GaAs FET and one stage main power amplifier with an internally matched GaN HEMT. The designed SSPA has performance with more than total power gain 37dB and output power 48dBm(60-W) in condition of frequency range $9.41{\pm}0.03GHz$, pulse period width under 1ms and duty cycle under 10%. The implemented SSPA can apply to high quality digital marine radar applications with pulse compression technique.

  • Characteristics of JEM(Jet Engine Modulation) are measured and principal meanings are grasped in this paper. This study's object is to measure RCS and JEM for actual aircraft, especially low speed craft. In experiment, various error are generated from unknown cause and for removal these, calibration technique known as IACT(Isolated Antenna Calibration Technique) is used. Experiment is executed at outdoor and target is T-103 which play in beginner course for ROKAF pilot. JEM spectrum of T-103 and frequency characteristics, doppler effects are extracted. X-band used in military aircraft for air-to-air fighting are selected. The data obtained through this study are analyzed to discriminate target especially low speed aircraft for current using radar(X-band)'s performance.

  • In this paper, we described the design and test results of a high output power amplifier MMIC developed by using 0.5um power pHEMT processes on a 6-inch GaAs wafer for the X-band T/R module application. In the MMIC design, we have used a simple on-chip gate active bias technology to compensate the threshold-voltage variation of pHEMT during the fabrication process and 16-to-1 power combining method to achieve the output power over 10watt. The fabricated chip has an output power over 12watts and maximum PAE of 32% over the frequency range of fo +/-750MHz.

  • A horn antenna with corrugation structure and a PTFE(Polytetrafluoroethylene) teflon(relative permittivity=2.1) dielectric lens for good impedance matching characteristic and high gain performance is proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna shows measured return loss below -25 dB over the operating X band(8~12 GHz), the peak gain of 22.3 dBi at the center frequency(10 GHz) and has overall size of $110mm{\times}110mm{\times}135mm$. Considering the performance of the proposed antenna, it is suitable for being inserted in a radar level transmitters, particularly for gas tanks on vessels or off-shore plants containing gas with very low reflectivity and relative permittivity such as LNG or LPG.

  • This paper investigates active noise control(ANC) of a rectangular cavity using single channel filtered-x least mean square(FXLMS) algorithms to globally reduce the interior noise. To obtain the global reduction of the interior noise, multichannel active control should be incorporated in general. We, however, examined firstly the optimal location of the secondary source that produces a global reduction of the interior noise field using single channel control. We then investigated the frequency characteristics of the reduction to yield the effective frequency band of the active control system. It follows that the secondary source should be located as close to the primary source as possible in order to obtain the global reduction.

  • A log periodic microstrip array antenna using direct coupling feeder is designed at the frequency 7.2-12.4GHz. Transmission line analysis method was used for the design of each antenna element in consideration of the effects of dielectric and conductor loss and the discontinuity, also the optimized feeding points were obtained for the impedance matching between a main transmission line and each antenna element. It is shown that the measured VSWR was less that 2.4 at the frequency 7.2-12.4GHz, and 53% bandwidth was achived.

  • A nondestructive moisture measurement technique has been applied to improve the previous moisture measurement method in the building research. The experiment was done in free space using horns since it is the key element for continuous and non-destructive measurement. For this purpose a microwave bridge type analyzer at the frequency of 9.5 GHz was used to determine the moisture content of sands in the range of 1~12%. From this, the representative calibration curves were obtained. This shows that moisture measurement technique using microwave is applicabe to the measurement of moisture in non-metallic materials such as coal, pulp, foods, building materials, etc.

  • In this paper, a planar type bandpass filter in multilayered PCB is presented. The multilayered PCB structure has some advantages on fabricating microwave devices such as the size reduction and ability of tight coupling by folding or embedding. The proposed BPF has two transmission zeros at the both sides of the center frequency by using independent electric and magnetic coupling structure. The designed BPF with four layer teflon PCBs of dielectric constant 2.94 has dimensions of 24x20x1.524 in mm, center frequency of 2.47GHz and bandwidth of about l00MHz. A good agrement is achieved between the measured result and the simulated one. The influences of air gaps between the layers are also analyzed and presented.

  • The laser-induced fluorescence excitation spectrum of 7-amino-4-(trifluoromethyl)coumarin in a supersonic jet has been recorded in the 340-352 nm region. The electronic band origin was observed at 28622.8 cm-1. Vibrational assignments for the three fundamental low-frequency modes and eight combination bands have been made for the S1 electronic excited state. The out-of-plane vibrations of this molecule have been characterized from the low-frequency assignments of the spectrum. The periodic potential energy function for the CF3 torsion, which satisfactorily fits the observed data, were also determined to be V(Φ)=95X(1-cos3Φ)-32X(1-cos6Φ) where Φ is the torsional angle. The relatively low torsional barrier of 99 cm-1 in S1 state could be explained by the small steric interactions between the functional groups attached to a bicyclic ring.
