A multi-band, compact, and complex vehicle roof antenna has become important in terms of car exterior design and multi-functions which include Radio, DAB/DMB, SXM, GNSS, Telematics, and V2X. In this paper, we propose a compact multi-band V2X pole-type roof antenna. Using impedance change characteristic, a single pole antenna which has multiband such as radio, DAB/DMB, telematics, and V2X band is proposed. With two patch antennas for GNSS and SXM, the dimension of a multiband roof antenna is 131x63x37mm only.

Two axis gimbal type X-band antenna system has been widely used to effectively transmit the real time image data from the observation satellite to the ground station. The micro-vibration generated by stepping motor actuation and imperfect intermeshed gear configuration of the antenna is one of the sources to degrade the image quality. To guarantee a high quality image of high resolution observation satellite, micro-vibration isolation of X-band antenna is required. In this paper, the X-band antenna vibration isolation system using pseudoelastic SMA(Shape Memory Alloy) mesh washer has been newly suggested. The basic characteristics of the SMA mesh washer isolator proposed in this study has been measured through static load tests and its effectiveness has been demonstrated by the micro-vibration isolation test of the X-band antenna.

X-band antenna has been widely used to effectively transmit the high resolution image data from the observation satellite to the ground station. To achieve above mission, X-band antenna is mainly composed of the 2-axis gimbal system using stepping motors and gears. However, the micro-vibration induced by the stepping motor actuation and the imperfect gear teeth alignment during this on-orbit operation is the main source of image quality degradation. In this paper, X-band antenna combined with a blade gear for micro-vibration isolation was suggested and investigated. The structural safety of the blade gear with low rotational stiffness was confirmed by structure analysis based on the derived torque budget. The isolation performance of the X-band antenna with the blade gear was verified through micro-vibration measurement test using the dedicated micro-vibration measurement device proposed in this study.

A S / X dual broad band patch antenna with shared aperture structure is fabricated. A $2{\times}2$ perforated patch is used for S-band operation and a $2{\times}2$ patch antenna array is integrated in the $2{\times}2$ perforation for X-band operation. The measurement results of a S / X dual broad band patch antenna with shared aperture structure show the broad band characteristics larger than 20 % in both bands.

In this paper, a triple-band planar antenna is proposed for the application to miniaturized automobile safety devices operating at X band(10.5 ㎓), K band(24.15 ㎓), and Ka band(34.3 ㎓). The frequency ratio between the resonant frequencies of this antenna can be adjusted from 1.99 to 2.23 for both X band and K band by varying its slit length. Parasitic elements are added on the modified slot loaded antenna to obtain the third resonance. From numerical as well as experimental results, it has been confirmed that this type of antenna is appropriate for planar multi-band antenna systems.
A LEO satellite transmits recorded images to a ground station using an X-band antenna during contact. The X-band antenna points to the ground station according to a TPF (tracking parameter file) during communication time. A TPF generation software generates azimuth and elevation profile which make the antenna point to the ground station using satellite orbit and attitude information and mission information including recording and downlink operation. When the satellite passes above the ground station, azimuth velocity increases rapidly so that jitter may occur if the azimuth velocity is in specific range. In case of realtime mission in which the satellite perform recording and downlink simultaneously, azimuth velocity must be lower than specific value to prevent image blur due to jitter effect. The method to point one virtual ground station has limitation of azimuth velocity reduction. In this paper, we propose the azimuth fixing method to reduce azimuth velocity of X-band antenna. The experimental results show that azimuth velocity of the X-band antenna is remarkably reduced using proposed method.

The 2nd KOrea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT -2) has been developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) since 2000. Multi Spectral Camera (MSC) is the payload for KOMPSAT -2, which will provide the observation imagery around Korean peninsula with high resolution. KOMPSAT-2 has adopted X-band Tracking System (XTS) for transmitting earth observation data to ground station. For this, data which describes and controls the pre-defined motion of each on-board X-Band antenna in XTS, must be transmitted to the spacecraft as S-Band command and it is called as Tracking Parameter Files (TPF). In this paper, the result of the development of TPF Generation S/W for KOMPSAT-2 X-Band Antenna Motion Control.
This paper presents a new dualband shared-aperture microstrip antenna to operate in the S-Band of 2 GHz and X-Band of 8 GHz, for a Low Earth Orbit satellite antenna system. The proposed antenna incorporates two types of patches those are a rectangular loop-shaped for the S-Band and a square patch for the X-Band. Each patch are optimized for its respective operating band with minimal interference. The proposed antenna achieves a bandwidth of 16 MHz in the S-Band and 572 MHz in the X-Band. The highest gain is measured 7.14 dBi at 1.99 GHz and 7.95 dBi at 7.88 GHz. The proposed antenna exhibits half power beamwidths of 85 degree and 80 degree at 1.99 GHz and 7.88 GHz, respectively. The proposed dualband shared-aperture microstrip antenna may be a good candidate for as a feeding system of a dualband reflectarray antenna With its unidirectional radiation pattern from excellent agreement between simulation and measurement results.

This paper proved experimentally that the disc array microstrip antenna designed and manufactured at X-band is capable to use for wide band antenna. This antenna arrayed the discs to have different resonant frequencies log-periodically on printed circuit board. The experimental result of this antenna showed the flat gain and good impedence matching characteristics. The VSWR of this antenna is 2.2 below through the system band.

A dual-band dual-polarized microstrip antenna array for an advanced multi-function radio function concept (AMRFC) radar application operating at S and X-bands is proposed. Two stacked planar arrays with three different thin substrates (RT/Duroid 5880 substrates with $\varepsilon_r$=2.2 and three different thicknesses of 0.253 mm, 0.508 mm and 0.762 mm) are integrated to provide simultaneous operation at S band (3~3.3 GHz) and X band (9~11 GHz). To allow similar scan ranges for both bands, the S-band elements are selected as perforated patches to enable the placement of the X-band elements within them. Square patches are used as the radiating elements for the X-band. Good agreement exists between the simulated and the measured results. The measured impedance bandwidth (VSWR$\leq$2) of the prototype array reaches 9.5 % and 25 % for the S- and X-bands, respectively. The measured isolation between the two orthogonal polarizations for both bands is better than 15 dB. The measured cross-polarization level is ${\leq}-21$ dB for the S-band and ${\leq}-20$ dB for the X-band.
