  • This paper explains analytical and experimental studies to evaluate the natural frequency of a composite carbody of Korean tilting train. The composite carbody with length of 23m was manufactured as a sandwich structure composed of 40mm-thick aluminium honeycomb core and 5mm-thick woven fabric carbon/epoxy face. From the finite element analysis, the 1st bending and 1st twisting natural frequency of the composite carbody were 11.67Hz and 14.4Hz, respectively. In order to verify the analytical results, the natural frequency measuring tests were performed. The measured 1st bending and twisting natural frequencies of the composite carbody were 10.25Hz and 11.0Hz, respectively. Both of these results satisfied the design requirement.

  • After adhering theone-sided non-woven adhesive interlining to the polyester/cotton fabrics and making experiments under the various conditions by L27 Orthogonal Array Table, we examined and analyzed the breaking away strength. The rusults are summarized as follows : 1. The best length of the adhering time is 15 secs. 2. As the adehesive interlining for blouse and jacket, B3 is best 3. The pressure for the adhesion is best under the pressure of 6.2Kg. 4. The temperature for the adhesion is best at 140$^{\circ}C$. 5. As for the direction of the adhesion, three directions appear much the same breaking away strength. 6. For the better adhesion power, if the less adhering power, if the less adhering pressure is applied, the adhering time must be extended(15-20 secs), and if much stronger adhering pressure is applied, the time must be shortened(10-15 secs). In general, it is the best way for the adhesion to apply under the pressure of 6.2Kg, for 15 secs long, and at 140$^{\circ}C$ of the adhering temperature.

  • Instrumented impact tests and compression-after-impact(CAI) tests have been used to evaluate the effect of temperature on the low-velocity impact characteristics of phenolic matrix composites reinforced with various woven glass fabric. Impact characteristics and damage area in laminates are evaluated by C-scan. It is shown that the extent of damage and residual compressive strength of the laminates vary with energy level and impact test temperature. The damage area increases with increasing impact energy and temperature. All these observations indicate reduced impact damage resistance and damage tolerance of the laminates at elevated temperature.

  • In this thesis considering the problems shown in the usage of interlining of clothes and in the process of sewing the breaking away strength which is meant by adhesion is analysed by experimennt in which Polyamide content is dealed with at the 5 level to raise the adhesive strength by using the one-sided non woven adhesive interlining made in this country as the samples. After examing the optimum in the process of Cotton and polyester fabrics and adhered fabrics practical for blouse and jacket and analysing the breaking away strength the wanted property of matter and the change with the repeated laundry We reach at the following results. 1. The adhesive strength of the two adhered fabrics were strongly appeared in order of cotton>polyester. 2. The order of the breaking away strength by the interlinings of adhesive fabrics was A5> A4> A3> A2> A1. 3. The breaking away strength of the two adhered fabrics was weakened by the repeated laundry and the breaking away phenomena were fewer under the most suitable conditions than the various conditions.

  • In the resin transfer molding, there are many advantages such as high volume, high performance, and low cost, The permeability is essential in the design and operation of the process, Traditionally, the determination of permeability can be divided as three methods, which are experimental measurement, analytical, and numerical prediction using the Darcy's law. In this study, the permeability in the microscopic level is first computed on the square-packing and hexagonal packing structures of the filaments inside the yarn by using CVFEM. (omitted)

  • Geocell is a three dimensional cellular confinement system that forms a reocomposite mattress with infill material to increase the bearing capacity dramatically rather than geotextiles of nonwoven and woven fabric type and geogrid. In terms of design, this geocell confinement is quite complex to assess and is different in its hieoretical evaluation and its concept from other geosynthetic products. Thsi study is aimed to help a basic understanding on Geoweb system, which is known to be the most effective and easiest in handling among the geocell systems ever developed, by introducing two method of interpretation for the improvement of bearing capacity. Thus the writers are sillingly to help the geotechnical engineers and the site engineers who might be encountered with the bearing capacity problems on site.

  • This study surveys the physical properties of Solo-spun fabrics related to the characteristics of Solo-spun yarns, which were described in previous reports. For this purposes, 6 kinds of fabrics were woven on the pilot loom. 3 kinds of Solo-spun yarns with the 3 level of twist mutiplier of Nm 1/30 and 3 kinds of conventional ring-spun yarns with the same levels of twist multipliers of the same yarn counts. The fabrics were of 2/2 twill and clear-cut finished. The physical properties were surveyed by means of KES-FB system. Solo-spun fabrics seemed to be stiffer than ring spun fabrics as showing the lower extensibility with higher tensile energy, the higher bending rigidity, and the higher shear rigidity. Solo-spun fabrics showed the lower value in surface friction coefficient and surface roughness. For fabric abrasion tests, Solo-spun fabrics showed the higher pill resistance.

  • Blades are one of the critical parts of the wind machine. This paper presents a design procedure for the blade of a 7m diameter horizontal axis wind turbine with the constraint conditions of stresses and fundamental frequency. This blade consists of glass/polyester woven fabric and unidirectional prepreg. It was firstly designed by the classical beam theory on the assumption that torque box sustains all external loads and the reliability of the blade was then inspected in the preliminary estimation by using FEM.

  • The intrinsic structural failure of a Dacron graft resulting from the loss of structural integrity of the graft fabric can cause late graft complications. Late non-anastomotic rupture has traditionally been treated surgically via open thoracotomy. We report a case of the successful use of thoracic endovascular repair to treat a Dacron graft rupture in the descending aorta. The rupture occurred 20 years after the graft had been placed. Two stent grafts were placed at the proximal portion of the surgical graft, covering almost its entire length.

  • PAU is the block copolymer consists of a small amount of a small amount of poly(${\gamma}-methyl-L-glutamate$) (PMLG) and the polyurethane. The urethane segments are hydrophobic and then strongly interact with the other hydrophobic materials such as PTFE, and the PMLG segments with the ${\alpha}-helix$ structure possess the cytocompatibility. Therefore, PAU can be easily coated onto the PTFE fiber and acts as an artificial extracellular matrix with the high cytocompatibility Results shows, the immobilization, cultured and functions of porcine hepatocytes is greatly improved.
