To ensure the operational safety of nuclear power plants, we present a Quadruped Inspection Robot that can be used for many types of steam generators. Since the Inspection Robot relies on the Holding Modules to grip the tube-sheet, it can be regarded as a hybrid robot with variable configurations, switching between 4-RRR-RR, 3-RRR-RR, and two types of 2-RRR-RR, and the variable configurations bring a great challenge to dimensional synthesis. In this paper, the kinematic model of the Inspection Robot in multiple configurations is established, and the analytical solution is given. The workspace mapping is analyzed by the solution-space, and the workspace of multiple configurations is decomposed into the workspace of 2-RRR to reduce the analysis complexity, and the workspace calculation is simplified by using the envelope rings. The optimization problem of the manipulator is transformed into the calculation of the shortest contraction length of the swing leg. The switching performance of the Inspection Robot is evaluated by stride-length, turning-angle, and workspace overlap-ratio. The performance indexes are classified and transformed based on the proportions and variation trends of dimensional parameters to reduce the number of optimization objective functions, and Pareto optimal solutions are obtained using an intelligent optimization algorithm.
Delta parallel robots are now widely used for high-speed applications. However, typical Delta robots, such as ABB Flexpicker suffer from rotating axis with passive prismatic joint subjected to critical speed and so requiring careful maintenance. In this paper, a novel 4-DOF high-speed parallel robot with four legs is presented, which consists of three legs with 90 degree arrangement for translational motions and one remaining leg with rack & pinion gears for rotational motion. The inverse kinematics, velocity, acceleration, statics, and inverse dynamics have been analyzed. From the workspace analysis and inverse dynamics simulation for 0.43 sec cycle time, the 4-axis parallel robot prototype with 12kg payload has been designed. In the future research, computed torque control methods will be developed for the prototype.
The traditional robot manipulators are actuated by continuous range of motion actuators such as motors or hydraulic cylinders. However, there are many applications of mechanisms and robotic manipulators where only a finite number of locations need to be reached, and the robot's trajectory is not important as long as it is bounded. Binary manipulator uses actuators which have only two stable states. As a result, binary manipulators have a finite number of states. The number of states of a binary manipulator grows exponentially with the number of actuators. This kind of robot manipulator has some advantage compared to a traditional one. Feedback control is not required, task repeatability can be very high, and finite state actuators are generally inexpensive. And this kind of robot manipulator has a fault tolerant mechanism because of kinematic redundancy. This paper develops algorithms for kinematics and workspace analysis of a binary manipulator.
This paper presents the jacobian analysis of new type Casing Oscillator using the inverse kinematics, and to search for it's singularities through the jacobian analysis. All parallel manipulator have some singularities in workspace or it's outside workspace. Singularities were cleared by many other study of parallel manipulator f3r that reason recent publication of device control. In this paper defined that singularities of new file of Casing Oscillator and, to show it's graph. Finally this paper will be used for a practical example for construction spot, aviation simulator, vehicles simulator, military equipment etc.
An error analysis is very important for a precision machine to estimate its performances. This study deals with error of a new parallel device, cubic parallel manipulator. There are so many error sources in this mechanism. Errors of the cubic parallel device vary depending on the stiffness of the manipulator. The stiffness of each link depends on the directions of the link and actuation force. In this paper, the stiffness of the manipulator is calculated by ARAQUS and the position and orlentation errors are predicted within a given workspace. The analysis shows that the method can be used in predicting the accuracy of other parallel devices and in designing parallel devices.
A new 6-DOF parallel haptic device is proposed. Many existing haptic devices require large power due to having floating actuator and also have small workspaces. The proposed new mechanism can generate 6-DOF reflecting force. This device is relatively light by employing non-floating actuators and has large workspace. Kinematic analysis and kinematic optimal design is performed for this mechanism. Dexterous workspace, global isotropic index, and global maximum force transmission ratio are considered as kinematic design indices. To deal with such multi-criteria optimization problem. composite design index is employed. For the given operational specifications, actuator sizing for this mechanism is also carried out.
This paper presents the development of a new 6-DOF parallel-kinematic motion simulator. The moving platform is connected to the fixed base by six P-S-U (Prismatic-Spherical-Universal) serial chains. Comparing with the well-known Gough-Stewart platform-type motion simulator, it uses commercialized linear actuators mounted at the fixed base whereas a 6-UPS manipulator uses telescopic linear ones. Therefore, the proposed motion simulator has the advantages of easier fabrication and lower inertia over a 6-UPS counterpart. Furthermore, since most forces acting along the legs are transmitted to the structure of linear actuators, smaller actuation forces are required. The inverse position and Jacobian matrix are analyzed. In order to further increase workspace, inclined arrangement of universal joints is introduced. The optimal design considering workspace and force transmission capability has been performed. The prototype motion simulator and PC-based real-time controller have been developed. Finally, position control experiment on the prototype has been performed.
Ultra-precision positioning systems basically require high natural frequency and sufficient workspace. To cope with this requirement, flexure hinge mechanisms have been proposed. However, previous designs are hard to satisfy the functional requirements of the system due to difficulty in modeling and optimizing process applying an independent axiomatic design. Therefore, this paper proposes a new design and design-order based on semi-coupled axiomatic design. A planar 3 DOF parallel type micro mechanism is chosen as an exemplary device. Based on preliminary kinematic analysis and dynamic modeling of the system, an optimal design has been carried out. To check the effectiveness of the optimal parameters obtained from theoretical approach, simulation is performed by FEM. The simulation result shows that a natural frequency of 200.53Hz and a workspace of $2000{\mu}m{\times}2000{\mu}m$ can be ensured, which is in very close agreement with the specified goal of design.
In this work, a new 3-PSP type spatial 3-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism is proposed. And a 6 DOF hybrid manipulator which consists of a 3-PPR type planar 3 DOF parallel mechanism and a new 3-PSP type spatial 3-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism is proposed. Both 3 DOF mechanism modules have closed-form forward position solutions and particularly, 3-PSP spatial module has unique forward position solution. Firstly, the closed-form position analysis and first-order kinematic analysis for the proposed 3-PSP type module are carried out, and the first-order kinematic characteristics are examined via maximum singular value and the isotropic index of the mechanism. It is shown through these analyses that the mechanism has excellent isotrpic property throughout the workspace. Secondly, position and kinematic analysis of the 3-PPR planar module are briefly described. Thirdly, the forward position analysis for the 3-PPR 3-PSP type 6 degree-of-freedom hybrid mechanism consisting of a 3-PPR planar module and a 3-PSP spatial module is performed along with the analysis of the workspace size and first-order kinematic characteristics. The kinematic characteristics of the proposed hybrid manipulator are compared to those of geometrically similar Stewart manipulator.
The present study explored the applicability of Visibility Graph Analysis (VGA) techniques to workplace design research. Six types of VGA measures in Depthmap encompassing visual connectivity, three types of visual integration, mean depth, and visual entropy were employed for the analysis of individual privacy for task concentration and group relationship behavior in the open-plan office environment. Data comprised 136 workers in 6 open-plan offices filled with low-paneled (1.2-1.5m) cubicle workspaces. For the statistical analysis, Spearman's rho correlations and t-tests were applied for the spatial and behavioral measures. The results showed that workspace VGA measures have a potential to be useful information to account for workers' concentration privacy and, limitedly, also informal relationships with team members. Visual entropy values especially offer reliable information to predict various aspects of office workers' privacy behavior while visual integration can be used to account for the workers' sense of trust in group relations. The study also discussed the limitation of VGA applications to the workplace context.
