  • Objective: The objective this paper is to introduce the agricultural ergonomics and to show the importance of it in improving the agricultural works. Background: Despite of rapid advancement of technologies and adoption of modern mechanical equipments at farms in Korea, most of agricultural works have still remained manual and thus have regarded as one of the hardest works. With aging and feminization in rural areas, the need to improve agricultural works has grown quite much. Agricultural ergonomics have been known as a good tool in improving agricultural works around the world. Recently Korean government initiated a national program of providing assistive equipments to help farmers and a few ergonomists started to apply agricultural ergonomics in our rural villages as a part of this program. Method: This study reviewed how Ergonomics was used for the agricultural work. Results: Methods of Ergonomics which are used for the agricultural ergonomics and the simple procedure of the agricultural ergonomics were presented. Conclusion: It was found that agricultural works can be improved quite much using the agricultural ergonomics principle and the musculoskeletal stress of farmers can be reduced significantly.

  • This paper proposes an efficient method of On-Line Economic Load Dispatch(ELD) using Evolutionary Programming(EP) technique at Kwangyang steel works. The economic operation of steel works is done by experienced engineer. So far, there is no formulation and algorithm of economic operation of steel works. In this paper, we propose the formulation and On-Line algorithm of economic operation of steel works. The EP technique is the kind of Evolutionary Computation(EC) which has become a candidate for many optimization applications due to its flexibility and efficiency. Based on the EP technique, the proposed algorithm is capable of not only solving the economic problem, but also obtaining the global optimal solutions within reasonable execution time. To validate our proposed approach, the algorithm is demonstrated on many sample systems and compared to actual values of steel works.

  • This paper proposes a new Web based-control concept & design method and implementation of LonWorks network system for a large scale renewable energy energy control and monitoring system in building. The Experimental LonWorks network system using LonWorks/Ethernet(Web) server is designed and fabricated. This article addresses issues in architecture of LonWorks/Ethernet sever, embedded processors architecture for converting LonTalks protocol to Modbus protocol and software, and Internet technologies. It is also verified that the multi-induction motor control and monitoring system using LonWorks/Ethernet server have available, interoperable, reliable performance characteristics from the experimental results, Especially, The seamless integration of TCP/IP networks with control networks allows access to any control point from anywhere. Thus, the results provide a available technical data for remote distributed control system of industrial and buildings field.

  • Use ot Intelligent devices that work on the ANSI/EIA 709.1 protocol is increasing. In this study an ANSI/EIA 709.1 protocol analyzer that can monitor and analyze the packets on LonWorks network is designed and developed. The device is based on TMS320LF2407A processor for decoding data packets, and uses XScale processor for sending data to the application program on PC. The application program has various analysis features as well as basic monitoring function. The developed device can be used for debugging purposes in development of any kind of LonWorks devices, and also it is useful in maintenance of LonWorks network or Lon Works devices.

  • The finish works of construction projects comprises approximately 40% of the total construction duration. Thus, the management of finish works have as big as impacts on total project duration as the earthworks, foundation and structure works. Process interference management is considered one of the most important issues dealt during finish works. However, it was investigated that effective management systems have yet not been applied for practical use. Accordingly, this paper suggests a mobile technology based finish works management system that mainly focuses on preventing process interference occurred due to ineffective communication between general and sub-contractors.

  • Railway works on or near the line, or trackside works, typically have high potential of accidents, as the works have to be frequently performed during the train operation. In order to reduce the risks associated with the railway trackside works effectively, a systematic risk assessment must be performed considering the hazards that contribute to the accidents. In this study, hazards are identified for railway trackside works by analysing data from Korea Railroad for accidents that have occurred between the year of 2000 and 2006. The hazard list produced in this study is expected to be effectively used for the risk assessment of the trackside works.

  • Purpose Today, through digital services, many people enjoy a conveient and comfortable life. Nevertheless, it is easy to find people in our daily lives who are buried in work without any payment that we did not do before digital services. Such un-payed works under digital environment are called digital shadow works. The purpose of this study is to classification and dynamics of digital shadow works and to suggest research direction. Design/methodology/approach Based on two dimension, voluntary participation ('should' type and 'want' type) and work orientation (management-operation), digital shadow works were classified into four categories - chore, makeup, routine, and quest. Findings In digital shadow work there are four types of dynamics - routine and quest, makeup and chore, makeup and quest, and quest and actions in offline. According to the classification and analysis of dynamics, three research directions in digital shadow work are suggested and discussed- digital shadow works operation mechanism considering dynamics, expansion of existing user theories based on survey method by digital shadow works and social influences by digital shadow works.

  • On the Seoul sub-way tunnel works 7-20 site, Cautious blasting works were so effectivelly carried out. The vibration record were under 0.3cm/sec and blasting noise was under 80dB. Which was measured at the ground of house. At a result cautious blasting works under above allowable value was not influenced the structure of house and living conditions. On the architectural survey, They were some hair crack on the wall and floors but this was not a crack from blasting works.
