A Study on Mooring Limit Analysis of Large Ship (대형 선박의 계류한계에 대한 연구)

  • This study is aiming to find one of working conditions for loading and unloading a large ship at game port. Firstly, for dynamic analysis of the moored ships, the motion characteristics of ship according to loading condition are figured out. The motion characteristics of ship is related to environmental factors such as current, wind, mooring line, fender and etc. As a result, it is ascertained through numerical simulation using the AQUA MARINE developed by ANSYS INC. This study might contribute to make a new method of mooring stability of target ship.

  • Vibration on the ship was generated mainly by main engine and propeller. The vibration which is generated from the ship has an effect on durability of ship's machinery and it also has an evil influence on the working conditions for crew. In this research, vibration measurement system to measure ship's vibration was built and vibration signals using acceleration sensors were measured from an accomodation space of training ship. An evaluation of vibration with regard to habitability was also discussed and the evaluation process followed the guidelines ISO6954:2000E.

Development of Corrosion Rust Removing Unit for Small Ship Propeller (소형선박용 프로펠러의 부식 녹 제거장치 개발)

  • The materials used in a ship screw propeller are commonly made with brass. The seawater corrosion and seawater cavitation of the screw propeller reduces the propulsive performance of the ship. In screw manufacturing, the corrosion rust of the screw propeller is removed through a hand grinding method. The grinding process produces dust of the heavy metals from the brass. The dust creates a poor working environment that is harmful to the health of the workers. An automatic corrosionrust removing apparatus, using a blasting method, was developed for the improvement of screw polishing conditions and its working environment. The performance of this apparatus was investigated by surface roughness, weight loss rate, hardness, electrochemical corrosion resistance, and cavitation erosion, after removing of the corrosion rust under various blasting conditions. Two medias of alumina and emery were used in this experiment. The surface roughness and hardness of the screw were improved by this apparatus. The electrochemical corrosion potential (Ecorr) and current density (Icorr) were measured by the dynamic polarization method, using a potentiostat,under the conditions of surface polishing with grinding, blasting, wire brushing, and fine sand papering. The test results prove that the new corrosion rust-removing apparatus improves the surface performance of a screw propeller.

  • The autopilot system targets decreasing labor, working environment improvement, service safety security and elevation of service efficiency. Ultimate purpose is minimizing number of crew for guarantee economical efficiency of shipping service. Recently, being achieving research about Course Keeping Control, Track Keeping Control, Roll-Rudder Stabilization. Dynamic Ship Positioning and Automatic Mooring Control etc. which compensate nonlinear characteristic using optimizing control technique. And application research is progressing using real ship on actual field. Relation of Rudder angle which adjusted by Steering Machine and ship-heading angle are non-linear. And Load Condition of ship as non-linear element that influence to Parameter of ship. Also, because the speed of a current and direction of waves, velocity and quantity of wind etc. that is disturbance act in non-linear from, become factor who make serv ice of shipping painfully. Therefore, service system of shipping requires robust control algorithm that can overcome nonlinearity. In this paper, Using fuzzy algorithm ,Design autopilot system of ship that could overcome the non-linear factor of ship and disturbance and examined result through simulation.

  • This paper is to introduce the development of a LCD monitor-based pilots' ship handling simulator installed in the office of Korea Maritime Pilots Association. This simulator is composed of hardware which includes working server array, operation PC, monitor array, rudder, thruster and telegraph peripheral devices, and software which includes ship mathematical model software, ship conning software, image supporting software and so on. In this simulator, MMG mathematical model is used to create thirteen(13) ship models, which are based on sea trial data & pilots' opinion. According to requirements of pilots, virtual scenes of different port areas are built, and some required additional functions are also developed. By using this simulator, pilots can fulfill all kinds of training exercises, design of channel approaching ports, traffic safety analysis, prevention of accident research and other tasks, so as to grasp the characteristics of different ships, and accumulate experience for piloting.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety consciousness of the lobours working at the ship building or repairing yard at which the industrial accidents frequently happen, and to provide the basic data required for the prevention of those accidents. This study is made by analyzing the questionnaires of 208 labours working at various ship building or repairing industries at random. This questionnaire is focused on finding the basic data for prevention of industrial accidents and getting the public opinions and proposals of labours. The results obtained by this study are as follows ; The negative estimations of the labours to the safety are cultivation of safety consciousness, the safety behavior in company, the molters of arrangement and the estimation of industrial or post arrangement. The positive ones are the arrangements of the protective tools and equipments for safety, the rule of safety regulation and the order of works, and the status of health education within company.

  • In case of working for the construction of blocks of any ship in a floating dry dock, there may exist deflection in the pontoon deck of the floating dock due to the ballast loading and the self weight of the ship and the floating dock. This paper is on the development of the measuring system and the GUI program to show the real time variation of the deflections at even-spaced positions by several pressure gages and the calculated inclination of the floating dock. The measured and calculated data produced by this developed system could be used to prepare the protection plan on site like ballast adjustment to ensure the safety of working during the floating dock operation.

  • This study presents the analysis of relationship between ship speed and local ice load on the Korean Icebreaker ARAON. The relationship curves were made from the data obtained at two areas: the Arctic and the Antarctic; and for two operation condition: the icebreaking condition in sea ice trial and general operation in ice covered sea. The strain data were converted to the equivalent stress value, and the influence of ship speed on the local ice load was analyzed and compared each other. These analysis results are useful in working on a statistically valid hull design approach.

  • Recently, various studies had been made for automatic control system of small ships, in order to improve maneuvering and to reduce labor and working on board. To achieve efficient operation of small ships, it had accomplished to rapid development of automatic technique, but the ship operation had been more complicated because of the need to handle various gauges and instruments. To solve these problems, there are examples to be applied to the speech information processing technologies which is one of the human interface methods in the system operation of ship, but the implementation of definite system is still incomplete. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to implement the control system for ship steering using the voice recognition module.

  • Development of safety monitoring system for workers in the ship building industry is currently under progress using RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) for successful development of the U-BUSS(Ubiquitous- Safety User Safety System). For decades, RFID technology has become a key technology to provide the real-time location system of worker and is variously used for safety monitoring system to increase productivity, improve the blasting quality and enhance the safety of working condition in the ship building industry In this paper, 2.45GHz band RTLS(Real Time Location System) technologies and the ubiquitous safety monitoring system of the ship yard's blasting cell are described.
