  • BPR(Business Process Reengineering), a radical improvement approach of business process, has been paying attention, and work-flow management and automation has been concentrated on progress velocity of business process and productivity of engineers. In software engineering, software process engineering which focus to process begin to be watched, and for the purpose of software productivity and quality progress and reduction of development term, study on SPR(Software Process Reengineering) is being progressed. In this paper, made workflow analysis and design method for construction of work-flow management system of software process to stand firm process reengineering methodology. In other words, we studied modeling process methods for SPR process, and software process structure and workflow analysis method which construct software process workflow model and specification definition method of workflow software.

  • We demonstrate workflows in biological data retrieval and analysis using the DDBJ Web Service; specifically introduce a workflow for the analysis of proteins or proteomics data sets. The workflow mechanically extracts the gene whose protein structure and function are known from all the genes of a human genome in Ensembl (http://www.ensembl.org/) based on cross-references among Ensembl, Swiss-Prot (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/swissprot) and PDB (Protein Data Bank; http://www.wwpdb.org/). The workflow discovered ‘hidden’ linkages among databases. We will be able to integrate distributed and heterogeneous data systems into workflows, if they are provided based on standards for Web services.

  • In this paper, a prototype of agent-based engineering system is developed based on the AADE (autonomous agent development environment), a FIPA compliant agent platform. By applying several advanced technologies including software agents, Internet/Web, workflow and database, the developed prototype system is able to successfully fulfill our target of integrating personnel, design activities and engineering resources along a predefined engineering design project (workflow). A software prototype is implemented to integrate various engineering software tools including CAD, structural analysis (FEA), dynamic analysis, fatigue analysis. A wheel-axle-assembly (part of a bogie system) is chosen as a test case for the validation of the prototype system.

  • Most of business enterprises today struggle with the coordination of work which is one of the most challenging problems in the business environment. And the situation becomes worse by the increasing complexity and uncertainty. In this paper, suitability of workflow technology for the modelling, optimization, and automation in the complex business structures is discussed. Also, in the abscence of a fully fledged method for analysis and design of workflow systems, this paper proposes a method, ETM(Extended Trigger Modelling), which can solve several problems in other methods. The proposed ETM approach consists of three stages such as situation analysis stage, activity coordination stage and implementation preparation stage. A modelling case of the proposed procedure is also presented.

  • Electronic Commerce with its advantages offered from the Internet to both the distributor and the customer, is growing faster than ever these days, and found its place to be the new designed Commerce Paradigm, raised as the means taking the lead of the national economy land society. The result proves that the diverse knowledge, occurring through the process of the establishment, is spread not only in the brain, but also in the diverse kinds of resources. With this research, we could find the waste of the resources and the controversial points occurred i when the developer do not use the methodology or the existing one. With the consideration and analysis on the Electronic Commerce and Workflow, We established the structure of the Electronic Commerce Workflow, developed the WfDM (Workflow Development Methodology) to build the model.

  • Recently, case presentations using AI functions such as ChatGPT are increasing in many industrial fields. As AI-based results emerge even in the areas of images and videos, traditional animation production tools are in need of significant changes. Unreal Engine is the tool that adapts most quickly to these changes, proposing a new animation production workflow by integrating tools such as Metahuman and Marvelous Designer. Working with realistic metahumans allows for the production of realistic and natural movements, such as those captured through motion capture data. Implementing this approach presents many challenges for production tools that adhere to traditional methods. In this study, we investigated the differences between the cell animation workflow and the computer graphics animation production workflow. We compared and analyzed whether these differences could be reduced by creating sample movements using character rigs in Maya and Cascadeur tools. Our results showed that a similar cell animation workflow could be constructed using the Cascadeur tool. To improve the accuracy of our conclusions, we created large, action-packed short animations to demonstrate and validate our findings.

  • The recent development of information technology has been envisioned as the next technological wave and is expected to play an important role in diminishing boundaries between business organizations. Enterprises have recently resulted in a surge in workflow management, making business processes sharable among different business organizations. To make heterogeneous workflows operational, it is crucial that workflow management systems provide efficient tools for an environment supporting interoperability of business processes among different business organizations. As the potential of workflow management is becoming widely recognized, the demand for an integrated framework that facilitates interoperability among heterogeneous workflows is concomitantly growing. Despite the large body of work in the area of workflow management, few efforts are directed towards identifying conflict patterns for heterogeneous workflow interoperability of inter-organizational business processes. In this paper, we summarize state of the art research trends in workflow management research area and identify conflict patterns for heterogeneous workflows. We believe that this is one of the first attempts to conceptualize conflict patterns that exist on inter-organizational business processes. This paper opens up a novel avenue for workflow management research by supplementing the existing conceptual frameworks for workflow management.

  • As most of information systems developed are data-centric rather than process-centric, it is difficult for users to understand and manage the system from the viewpoint of work processes. To resolve the problem of the data-centric design, we propose a new method to design WFMSs(Workflow Management Systems), which are focused on processes and modified from current information engineering methods. In this research, the drawing approval and engineering change approval process of a K manufacturing company has been analyzed as a sample process. This method takes two steps, i.e., process analysis and system design. In the prosess analysis, data and processes are analyzed, and functions and tasks are derived from the processes. In the system design, a data model for the operation of WFMS is designed, and based on this data model, build-time and run-time functions of WFMS are designed.

  • Since human genome project finished, the cost for human genome analysis has decreased very rapidly. This results in the sharp increase of human genome data to be analyzed. As the need for fast analysis of very large bio data such as human genome increases, non IT researchers such as biologists should be able to execute fast and effectively many kinds of bio applications, which have a variety of characteristics, under HPC environment. To accomplish this purpose, a biologist need to define a sequence of bio applications as workflow easily because generally bio applications should be combined and executed in some order. This bio workflow should be executed in the form of distributed and parallel computing by allocating computing resources efficiently under HPC cluster system. Through this kind of job, we can expect better performance and fast response time of very large bio data analysis. This paper proposes a workflow-based data analysis system specialized for bio applications. Using this system, non-IT scientists and researchers can analyze very large bio data easily under HPC environment.

  • Nowadays, huge volumes of chromatin immunoprecipitation-sequencing (ChIP-Seq) data are generated to increase the knowledge on DNA-protein interactions in the cell, and accordingly, many tools have been developed for ChIP-Seq analysis. Here, we provide an example of a streamlined workflow for ChIP-Seq data analysis composed of only four packages in Bioconductor: dada2, QuasR, mosaics, and ChIPseeker. 'dada2' performs trimming of the high-throughput sequencing data. 'QuasR' and 'mosaics' perform quality control and mapping of the input reads to the reference genome and peak calling, respectively. Finally, 'ChIPseeker' performs annotation and visualization of the called peaks. This workflow runs well independently of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Mac, or Linux) and processes the input fastq files into various results in one run. R code is available at github: https://github.com/ddhb/Workflow_of_Chipseq.git.
