In this paper, we propose two kinds of chaos dimensions, the fuzzy correlation and fuzzy Lyapunov dimensions, for speaker recognition. The proposal is based on the point that chaos enables us to analyze the non-linear information contained in individual's speech signal and to obtain superior discrimination capability. We confirm that the proposed fuzzy chaos dimensions play an important role in enhancing speaker recognition ratio, by absorbing the variations of the reference and test pattern attractors. In order to evaluate the proposed fuzzy chaos dimensions, we suggest speaker recognition using the proposed dimensions. In other words, we investigate the validity of the speaker recognition parameters, by estimating the recognition error according to the discrimination error of an individual speaker from the reference pattern.

A new error estimation method is proposed. This utilizes the variation of energy functional about the mapping function between the global and the master elements. The resultant system of equations is the weak form of the generalized conservation checks. However, This formulation has an important information about the relations between the connected elements. In other words, some relations between the connected elements are obtained and these can be used very usefully to measure it posteriori error. In this paper, the explicit formulations are presented for the 1-dimensional model and the 2-dimensional model problems. Numerical results are provided for first order shear deformation theody of beam model and the plane stress problem.
This study investigated final consonant error characteristics at word-medial position in children with functional articulation disorder. Data was collected from 11 children with functional articulation and 11 normal children, ages 4 to 5. The speech samples were collected from a naming test. Seventy-five words with every possible bi-consonants matrix at the word-medial position were used. The results of this study were as follows : First, percentage of correct word-medial final consonants of functional articulation disorder was lower than normal children. Second, there were significant differences between two groups in omission, substitution and assimilation error. Children with functional articulation disorder showed a high frequency of omission and regressive assimilation error, especially alveolarization in regressive assimilation error most. However, normal children showed a high frequency of regressive assimilation error, especially bilabialization in regressive assimilation error most. Finally, the results of error analysis according to articulation manner, articulation place and phonation type of consonants of initial consonant at word-medial, both functional articulation disorder and normal children showed a high error rate in stop sound-stop sound condition. The error rate of final consonant at word-medial position was high when initial consonant at word-medial position was alveolar sound and alveopalatal sound. Futhermore, when initial sounds were fortis and aspirated sounds, more errors occurred than linis sound was initial sound. The results of this study provided practical error characteristics of final consonant at word-medial position in children with speech sound disorder.
This paper introduces a GPS-aided dead reckoning algorithm that asymptotically estimates the heading bias error of a magnetic compass based on geodetic north, improves the position error accumulated by dead reckoning, and helps the estimated position of an AUV to represent a position in the NED coordinate system, by receiving GPS position information when surfaced. Based on the results of a simulation, the locational error was bounded with a modest distance, after estimating the AUV position and heading bias error of the magnetic compass when surfaced. In other words, it was verified that proposed algorithm improves the position error in the NED coordinate system.
While human error has been one of the main technical issues from the early era of human factors engineering, it still remains hot and somewhat vague due to the various types of the concepts and words on human errors in practice. There may be some technical limitations hindering human error prevention activities. This paper introduces the human error activities described in the papers if this issue of ESK Journal according to a few criteria proposed for more effective technical review. And two basic technical issues are discussed on the concepts, perspectives, and classifications about human errors. Each activity shows its own artifacts associated with the safety purpose and the nature of the industry. This paper also provides a set of new technical bases proposed for a more effective management of human errors by considering the dependability, representativeness, and structuredness of human errors. Additionally, this paper includes some new challenges over the current prevention-oriented activities; positive utilizations of human errors to training/education, advertisements, fun and entertainments, and nudges.

This paper examines how the performance of an automatic speech recognizer was improved for Korean Point-of-Interest (POI) data by modeling pronunciation variation using structural prosodic information such as prosodic words and syllable length. First, multiple pronunciation variants are generated using prosodic words given that each POI word can be broken down into prosodic words. And the cross-prosodic-word variations were modeled considering the syllable length of word. A total of 81 experiments were conducted using 9 test sets (3 baseline and 6 proposed) on 9 trained sets (3 baseline, 6 proposed). The results show: (i) the performance was improved when the pronunciation lexica were generated using prosodic words; (ii) the best performance was achieved when the maximum number of variants was constrained to 3 based on the syllable length; and (iii) compared to the baseline word error rate (WER) of 4.63%, a maximum of 8.4% in WER reduction was achieved when both prosodic words and syllable length were considered.
In the Khmer writing system, the Khmer script is the official letter of Cambodia, written from left to right without a space separator; it is complicated and requires more analysis studies. Without clear standard guidelines, a space separator in the Khmer language is used inconsistently and informally to separate words in sentences. Therefore, a segmented method should be discussed with the combination of the future Khmer natural language processing (NLP) to define the appropriate rule for Khmer sentences. The critical process in NLP with the capability of extensive data language analysis necessitates applying in this scenario. One of the essential components in Khmer language processing is how to split the word into a series of sentences and count the words used in the sentences. Currently, Microsoft Word cannot count Khmer words correctly. So, this study presents a systematic library to segment Khmer phrases using the bi-directional maximal matching (BiMM) method to address these problematic constraints. In the BiMM algorithm, the paper focuses on the Bidirectional implementation of forward maximal matching (FMM) and backward maximal matching (BMM) to improve word segmentation accuracy. A digital or prefix tree of data structure algorithm, also known as a trie, enhances the segmentation accuracy procedure by finding the children of each word parent node. The accuracy of BiMM is higher than using FMM or BMM independently; moreover, the proposed approach improves dictionary structures and reduces the number of errors. The result of this study can reduce the error by 8.57% compared to FMM and BFF algorithms with 94,807 Khmer words.

Typographical mistakes made in the writing process of drafts of electronic documents are more common than any other type of errors. The majority of these errors caused by mistyping are regarded as consequently still typo-errors, but a considerable number of them are developed into the grammatical errors and the semantic errors. Pseudo semantic errors among these errors due to typographical errors have more noticeable peculiarities than pure semantic errors between senses of surrounding context words within a sentence. These semantic errors can be detected and corrected by simple algorithm based on the co-occurrence frequency because of their prominent contextual discrepancy. I propose a method for detection and correction based on the co-occurrence frequency in order to detect semantic errors due to typo-errors. The co-occurrence frequency in proposed method is counted for only words with immediate dependency relation, and the cosine similarity measure is used in order to detect pseudo semantic errors. From the presented experimental results, the proposed method is expected to help improve the detecting rate of overall proofreading system by about 2~3%.
In this paper, 10 city names of Korean were recognized. The name are articulated each 5 times by 10 male speakers. Filter bank output on total 500 words were extracted and they were used as feature parameters. Filter bank was constructed of 15 channels with 1/3 octave spacing from 200[Hz], using RC active circuit. Reference templates were created by clustering algorithm. DTW algorithm was used to compare similarity between reference templates and input words. Euclidean distance equation and Chebyshev distance equation were used to know the distinction between the recognition results obtained by the method of distance caculation, error rates are 16.4[%], 15.0[%], respectively.
This study analyzes Korean students' pronunciation errors in stop-nasal sequences in English. For the study, 23 English words of stop-nasal sequences were pronounced by 4 natives and 21 Korean students. The results showed two kinds of pronunciation errors: the insertion of a vowel and the nasal assimilation between stops and nasals. A teaching material was designed based on the errors. After a 60-minute class with the material they were asked to pronounce the same words in another session. There was a substantial improvement in the error correction.
