Text Mining and Sentiment Analysis for Predicting Box Office Success

  • After emerging online communications, text mining and sentiment analysis has been frequently applied into analyzing electronic word-of-mouth. This study aims to develop a domain-specific lexicon of sentiment analysis to predict box office success in Korea film market and validate the feasibility of the lexicon. Natural language processing, a machine learning algorithm, and a lexicon-based sentiment classification method are employed. To create a movie domain sentiment lexicon, 233,631 reviews of 147 movies with popularity ratings is collected by a XML crawling package in R program. We accomplished 81.69% accuracy in sentiment classification by the Korean sentiment dictionary including 706 negative words and 617 positive words. The result showed a stronger positive relationship with box office success and consumers' sentiment as well as a significant positive effect in the linear regression for the predicting model. In addition, it reveals emotion in the user-generated content can be a more accurate clue to predict business success.

온라인 구전정보와 수신자 특성이 구전수용에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of On Line WOM(word Of Mouth) Information and Receiver's Characteristic on WOM Received)

  • The present paper aims to examine the relationship between the online word of mouth(WOM) contents and the WOM effect and to see how receivers' features such as product knowledge and involvement level influence the WOM received. For that purpose, we categorize WOM contents into two subcategories; product news and personal experience. The WOM effect, in turn, is into the WOM received. Survey questionnaires were given to 268 collegians as to their online WOM activities to purchase MP3 players. SPSS 10.0 package was employed as the method of statistical analysis. We report the following results. First, product news is shown to exert a greater effect on the WOM received than personal experience. Second, their product knowledge plays a moderating role in the relationship between the WOM contents and the WOM received. Finally, it is shown that the factor of involvement level moderates the relationship between the WOM contents and the WOM received. The current paper attempts to develop a hypothetical relationship between WOM information and WOM received and to provide a theoretical foundation for the practical online marketing. We must admit the methodological limitations with respect to subjects and samples. It should be worthwhile, however, to compare online and off-line marketing and to expand the range of research in the current line of thought.

  • 虚拟社区(virtual community, VC)今年来发展迅速, 越来越多的人参与到虚拟社区中交换信息和分享观点. 虚拟社区是通过计算机布告板和网络进行非面对面的知识和语言交流的一种大众集合体. B2C电子商务网站虚拟社区则是商业性的虚拟社区, 通过培养信任环境来促进消费者在该网站的购买行为. B2CVC通过信息交流, 如推荐, 评论, 买者与卖者评级等, 来建立社会性的氛围. 目前, 虽然学术界已经认识到B2CVC的重要性, 但是关于社区成员的口碑传播行为的研究还不充分. 本研究提出了一个理论模型, 探讨在B2C网站社区中参与度, 满意度, 信任度, 粘度和口碑传播之间的关系. 本研究的目的有三个: 1, 通过整合信念, 态度和行为的测量来实证检验B2C网站社区模型; 2, 更好地理解各因素对口碑传播的影响关系; 3, 更好地理解B2C网站社区黏度在CRM营销中的作用. 研究模型包含以下要素: 1, 社区成员的信念变量, 通过参与度来测量; 2, 社区成员的态度变量, 通过满意度和信任度来测量; 以及3, 社区成员的行为变量, 通过网站黏度和口播传播意愿来测量. 参与度是消费者在虚拟社区的参与动机. 对于社区成员来说, 信息的查找和发布是他们参与到社区的主要目的. 满意度是成员对社区整体评价的重要指标, 反映了成员与社区的交互程度. 虚拟社区的形成与发展依靠成员分享信息和服务的自愿程度. 研究者已经发现信任是促进匿名交互的关键, 因此构建信任被看作是虚拟社区的重要研究课题. 此外, 虚拟社区的成功依靠成员的粘度来提高购买潜力. 社区成员间的观点交流和信息交换代表一种 "写作式" 的口碑传播. 因此口碑传播是推动B2C虚拟社区在互联网上扩散的主要因素之一. 研究模型及假设如图一所示. 本研究通过实证调查中国携程旅游网虚拟社区成员来验证模型. 数据收集过程中共发放243份问卷, 其中有效问卷204份. 通过实证数据验证了参与度, 满意度和信任度影响粘度和口碑传播之间的假设关系. 结构方程模型(SEM)方法用来进行数据分析. 模型的拟合指数结果为χ2/df 是2.76, NFI是 .904, IFI是 .931, CFI是 .930, 以及RMSEA是 .017. 结果表明, 参与度对满意度具有显著的影响(p<0.001, ${\beta}$=0.809). 参与度可以解释满意度的方差比例超过50%, 调整R2为0.654. 参与度对信任度具有显著影响(p<0.001, ${\beta}$=0.751), 解释率为57%, 调整R2为0.563. 此外, 满意度对黏度的影响显著(${\beta}$=0.514), 但是信任度对黏度的影响并不显著(p=0.231, t=1.197). 黏度对口碑传播的影响显著, 且解释率超过80%, 调整R2为 0.846. 总之, 研究结果支持了大部分的研究假设, 但是信任度显著影响粘度的假设没有得到支持. 本研究丰富了电子商务网站虚拟社区的学术研究成果, 深入探讨了在B2C电子商务环境下的用户信念, 态度和行为等因素. 研究成果有助于实践者进行更有针对性的资源开发和市场开拓. 网络营销人员可以针对B2C网站社区来有针对性地制定营销策略, 如对于国际旅游业务, 营销人员可以针对中国的B2C网站社区用户开展营销活动, 如为活跃的用户提供特殊折扣以及为早期参与者提高社区黏度定制营销计划等. 未来的研究应该拓展社区成员行为的研究, 并在不同的行业, 社区和文化背景下开展研究.

구전의 정보원천이 교육서비스 판매에 미치는 영향 (An Influence of the Source Information of Word Mouth on the Sales of Educational Service)

  • 본 연구는 구전의 정보원천 효과가 학원에 대한 기대형성에 미치는 영향을 규명해 보고자 함과 동시에, 기대형성이 실제 교육서비스 판매에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 또한 교육서비스 판매에 있어 사전에 형성된 기대가 교육서비스 판매에 있어 매개효과를 분석하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 가설검증 결과 구전정보 원천효과가 기대속성에 미치는 영향에 있어서는 전문성, 유사성, 호감성, 친숙성의 요인들이 기대속성에 미치는 영향이 유의한 결과를 보이고 있다. 그러나 진실성은 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 학원 방문전 기대속성이 교육서비스 판매에 미치는 영향에 있어서는 유의한 결과를 보이고 있어, 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 구전정보의 원천이 교육서비스 판매에 있어서 미치는 영향에 있어 기대속성의 매개역할에 대한 결과는 기대속성은 전문성이 교육서비스 판매에 미치는 영향에 있어 부분매개효과, 진실성에 있어서 완전매개효과, 유사성에 있어 부분매개효과, 호감성에 있어 완전매개효과, 친숙성에 있어 완전매개 효과가 있다는 결과가 도출되었다.

  • Currently, improved quality of life has facilitated consumers' indulgence in a diverse range of cultural cuisines. Consequently, the evolvement of the food service industry has been developing itself according to the diversified needs of the consumers. In particular, a great amount of interest has been expressed in a new form of food service known as family restaurants. Family restaurant service providers have begun to provide information regarding family restaurant usage, including various foods and services, through their websites in order to yield better service to consumers. For family restaurant service providers, comprehending the consumers' purpose of using the company's websites is a crucial managerial issue and it plays an important role in the development of good marketing strategies. There exists a distinction in websites usage purposes according to the different values of consumers; the hedonic value and the utilitarian value. When consumers gain satisfaction through family restaurant websites usage, this satisfaction extends to word of mouth communication effect. In order to develop good Internet marketing strategies, this study is prepared to assist family restaurant service providers understand the relationships among customer value, usage purpose, customer satisfaction, and word of mouth communication with regards to the family restaurant websites. The results of this study provide useful implications to understand consumer behavior and to develop marketing strategies in a family restaurant websites.

소비자 쇼핑가치가 웹사이트 구전행위에 미치는 영향: 인성의 조절효과를 중심으로 (Online Consumer's Shopping Value for Word-of-Mouth Behavior: Moderating Effect of Personality)

  • 본 연구는 웹사이트에서 소비자들이 추구하는 가치가 소비자의 웹사이트에 대한 태도와 이용의도, 그리고 구전효과에 미치는 영향을 탐색하고자 한다. 본 연구에서 소비자들이 웹사이트 이용 시 추구하는 쇼핑가치는 경제적 가치, 정보적 가치, 오락적 가치로 구분된다. 소비자가 어떠한 쇼핑가치를 추구하느냐 하는 가치추구성향은 이후 소비자가 웹사이트를 이용하는 태도와 타인에게로의 홍보와 같은 구전효과에 유의한 영향을 미치게 된다. 나아가 본 연구는 소비자의 개인적 성향을 사고형(thinking)-감정형(feeling) 성격유형으로 간주하며, 이러한 성격유형에 따라 추구하는 쇼핑가치와 태도 간 관계가 달라질 것이라는 가설을 조절효과를 통해 검증한다. 이 같은 연구모형을 검증하기 위해 본 연구는 오프라인 패밀리레스토랑 이용과 더불어 해당 레스토랑의 홈페이지를 함께 활용했던 경험이 있는 고객들을 대상으로 설문 조사와 Lisrel 분석을 진행하였다. 분석결과, 소비자들의 경제적 쇼핑가치지향, 정보적 쇼핑가치지향, 그리고 오락적 쇼핑가치지향이 강할수록 패밀리레스토랑 홈페이지에 대한 보다 우호적인 태도가 나타나며, 이는 곧 홈페이지의 이용에 대한 의도 및 구전효과에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치게 된다. 사고형-감정형 성격유형의 조절효과 분석결과를 보면, 사고형 성격을 지닌 소비자는 감정형 소비자보다 경제적 가치지향 및 오락적 가치지향에 몰입하여 이후 웹사이트 태도를 결정하는 성향을 보이는 것으로 나타났다.

유통업체 서비스품질이 몰입, 구전의도와 관계성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 한국과 중국 소비자를 중심으로 (A Study on Service Quality, Commitment Dimensions and Relationship Effect: Focusing on Korean and Chinese Consumers)

  • 중국경제의 비약적인 발전과 내수시장의 성장으로 유통업체들의 중국진출이 가속화되면서 중국 시장과 소비자에 대한 정확한 이해가 필요한 시점이다. 이에 본 연구는 한국과 중국 소비자들의 할인점 서비스품질에 대한 인식과 몰입차원의 중요성, 그리고 관계성과 변수인 구전의도와 관계유지의도 간의 관련성에 대해 차이점을 비교 연구하였다. 연구모형에 제시된 가설들을 검증하기위해 LISREL을 통한 경로분석을 실시하였으며 가설 검증결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 서비스품질 차원이 규범적 몰입에 미치는 영향에 있어, 서비스품질 차원 중 유형성, 신뢰성 및 반응성은 몰입 차원 중 규범적 몰입에 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 서비스품질 차원이 정서적 몰입에 미치는 영향에 있어, 서비스품질 차원 중 유형성을 제외한 신뢰성, 반응성, 확신성 및 공감성은 몰입 차원 중 정서적 몰입에 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 서비스품질 차원이 지속적 몰입에 미치는 영향에 있어, 서비스품질 차원 중 유형성과 신뢰성은 몰입 차원 중 지속적 몰입에 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 몰입 차원 간의 관계에 있어, 정서적 몰입은 규범적 몰입에, 지속적 몰입은 정서적 몰입에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 몰입 차원이 구전의도와 관계유지 의도에 미치는 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

대학행정 어플리케이션 이용에 미치는 결정요인: 모바일 환경을 중심으로 (The Determinants Towards the Use of University Smartphone Application's System: Focused on Mobile Environments)

  • The advancement of information and communication technology have brought the increase and the diversification of the digitalized information, which can be shared at any time from any place. Especially, with the recent spread of smartphone usage, the amount and the diversity of information have increased to amounts that are difficult to quantify. Within such an era of accelerated accumulation and diversification of digitalized information, the informatization of universities is becoming a critical factor for institutional advancement. Thus, universities are developing smartphone applications to provide easily accessible administration services, and support the information needs of each administration process by keeping a relationship with students from admission to post-graduation. This research systematically defines a university smartphone application, distinguishes its system quality factors, and studies the effects they have on satisfaction, intention of reuse, and intention of electronic word-of-mouth. The results showed that the security factor of system quality did not have a significant effect on satisfaction. The responsiveness and the empathy factors of service quality did not show a significant effect on satisfaction. Moreover, it was found that a higher user satisfaction for smartphone applications has a significant influence on intention of reuse and on the intention of electronic word-of-mouth.

외국인 환자의 기대수준과 경험수준이 의료서비스 만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Foreign Patients' Expectation and Experience on the Satisfaction of Medical service)

  • This research tried to understand the expectation and experience level of the medical service among the foreign patients who visit South Korea for a medical tourism, and to find out the effect of expectation and experience level on the satisfaction of medical service. Data collection was done through conducting a survey of inpatients in 4 hospitals located in Seoul, Korea. Total 110 cases were used for analysis. According to the study, expectation level had a significant difference between the group exposed to a word-of-mouth and the group not exposed to the word-of-mouth. The difference analysis of expectation and experience level of the foreign patients showed that all components of the service quality were satisfied. The component of perceived reliability was the only factor influencing the foreign patients' overall satisfaction on the medical service. The findings of this study will be provided a basic data for the marketing strategy which can apply to the satisfaction strategy differentiated from other countries.

패밀리 레스토랑의 서비스 감성체험이 관계적 성과에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Service Emotional Experience on Relational Performance in the Family Restaurant)

  • It is widely agreed that customers' purchase are strongly influenced by their emotions. despite the obvious importance of eliciting positive emotional responses from customers, we find no record that family restaurants have ever measured or used customers' emotions as a management tool. This study aimed to verify the importance of the customers' emotion in the relational performance of family restaurant business. In order to achieve the object of the study, the effect of emotional factors on service satisfaction, revisit, word-of-mouth were analysed. The data were collected from 450 customers who had visited five family restaurants in Seoul more than once during the last three months from September 20 to October 5, 2002. Emotional variables in service experience process were grouped as three factors; in the middle of having food, in entering and leaving restaurant and in the waiting line. It is proved that customers had different emotions in each process of family restaurant service experience. Multiple regression analysis was employed to explore the influence of three emotional factors on relational performances such as satisfaction, revisit and word-of-mouth. It was found that customers were influenced by emotional factors in entering and leaving restaurant, secondly influenced in the waiting line and least influenced in the middle of having food. Finally, the findings indicated that customers' emotional factors in whole service experience process from entering to leaving the restaurant should be successfully cared by service staff. Future research is recommended to find out which specific emotional factors affected on relational performance of family restaurant.
