  • This paper will intend to contribute to extracting and storing various form of information on user interests by using structural rules user makes and XML-based word document converting techniques. The system named PPE consists of three essential element. One is converting element which converts word documents like HWP, DOC into XML documents, another is extracting element to prepare structural rules and extract concerned information from XML document by structural rules, and the other is storing element to make final XML document or store it into database system. For word document converting, we developed OCX based word converting daemon. Helping user to extracting information, we developed script language having native function/variable processing engine extended from XSLT. This system can be used in the area of constructing word document contents DB or providing various information service based on RAW word documents. We really applied it to project management system and project result management system.

Abstract Output documents of existing word processors based on style informations or presentation attributes can be structured by converting them into XML(Extensible Markup Language) documents based on hierarchically logical structures such as title, abstract, chapter and so on. If so, it can be very useful to interchange and manipulate documents under Internet environment. The conversion need the complicate process calling auto-tagging by which elements of output documents can be inferred from style informations and sequences of text etc, and which is different from various kinds of simple conversion. In this paper, we defined XTML(XML Transformation Markup Language) of DTD(Document Type Definition) form and also defined the script language as instances of its DTD for the auto-tagging. XTML and its DTD are represented in XML syntax.Especially XTML includes various functions and commands to generate tree structure named as "GROVE" and also to process, store and manipulate the GROVE in order to process efficiently XML documents.documents.

  • We compared and analyzed the astronomy terms currently used by astronomers in the two Koreas to promote inter-Korean astronomy cooperation. We analyzed a total of 2716 pairs of terms common in both Koreas glossaries, using the astronomical terminology contained in the South Korean source, the 'Terminology of Astronomy', and the North Korean source, 'Mirror 2.0'. For each pair of terms, their morphological features and meanings were compared. We categorized into 11 groups for comparison of astronomical terms. We found that most of the terms are used similarly in the two Koreas. About 47% of the total is similar in form. Although terms are different, meanings communicate about 37% of the total. As a result, similar terms used by the two Koreas correspond to about 85% of the total. However, 15% of terms are difficult to understand because they have different forms or meanings such as diffraction (회절/에돌이), flare (플레어/요반) etc. Further research on terms that are used differently by the two Koreas, and the conversion of appropriate terms through mutual understanding should be made in the future.

  • The drastically changing society has brought diverse types of families, and these diversities are changing the concept of the word 'family' itself. Inevitably, these changes cause different viewpoints among family members, developing into conflicts and social issues. In this paper, generational family problems, which are caused by changes within the family as a result of the variously, diversely changing society, are observed to suggest a resolution. Looking into the functional variety that today's structural change within a family demands, several positives changes described below have been observed; Firstly, the change in the way of interaction among family members; Secondly, the demand for continuance on relational functions including love, care, etc, as a psychological resource of family; Thirdly, the conversion from form's sake relationship to actual relationship; and Lastly, the usage of a clearer communications network. The interaction between the parent-children relationship, according to the changes in family life cycle, is also re-focused to seek resolutions for intergenerational conflicts. The results are as follows; Firstly, the changeability of various family types today must be accepted, and the functional aspects of changing families must be emphasized ; Secondly, the mutual-exchanging value of each generation must be accepted, strengthening relational functions between generations; Thirdly, it is necessary to refocus filial piety. In other words, though the intergenerational transmission of family functions may become the basis of lineage and clan formation, it won't be possible without interaction between generation.
