Difference in visual attention during the assessment of facial attractiveness and trustworthiness (얼굴 매력도와 신뢰성 평가에서 시각적 주의의 차이)

  • This study was designed to examine the difference in visual attention between the evaluations of facial attractiveness and facial trustworthiness, both of which may be the two most fundamental social evaluation for forming first impressions under various types of social interactions. In study 1, participants were asked to evaluate the attractiveness and trustworthiness of 40 new faces while their gaze directions being recorded using an eye-tracker. The analysis revealed that participants spent significantly longer gaze fixation time while examining certain facial features such as eyes and nose during the evaluation of facial trustworthiness, as compared to facial attractiveness. In study 2, participants performed the same face evaluation tasks, except that a word was briefly displayed on a certain facial feature in each face trial, which were then followed by unexpected recall tests of the previously viewed words. The analysis demonstrated that the recognition rate of the words that had been presented on the nose was significantly higher for the task of facial trustworthiness vs. facial attractiveness evaluation. These findings suggest that the evaluation of facial trustworthiness may be distinguished by that of facial attractiveness in terms of the allocation of attentional resources.

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest efficient method for development of learner's self-directed learning ability through literature review on self-directed learning, component of self-directed learning, development of self-directed learning ability, design education steps adopting problem based learning and project based learning. This study was conducted through literature review on self-directed learning and development of self-directed learning, design education. Design education and project based learning process and problem based learning to extract the items that are common to bring out five steps, and differences in levels of learners based on self-learning led to Grow(1991) model to connect the lessons of 9 steps present the design education steps, that is, the learners ready for learning, the definition of problem and recognition of necessity, team building, related data collection, team learning about real problem with the teacher, select optimal solution, student-centered discussion, models and product creation, testing and evaluation, complement.

The Lexical Access of Regular and Irregular Korean Verbs in the Mental Lexicon (한국어 규칙 동사와 불규칙 동사의 심성 어휘집 접근 과정)

  • This study investigated the lexical access processing of inflected Korean verbs in the mental lexicon. In Korean, verbs can be classified into two main types of inflections, which are regular and irregular inflections, which can be further divided into three types of regular inflections and two types of irregular inflections. A masked priming lexical decision task was used and the priming effects were compared. Experiments were carried out using the five different types of verbal inflections in Korean: (1) No change-regularity (regular verbs with no orthographical or phonological changes), (2) Phonological change-regularity (regular verbs with phonological changes to the stem only), (3) Orthographical change-regularity (regular verbs that only undergo orthographical changes), (4) Stem change-irregularity (the stem is omitted or alternated with the other phoneme of the stem in irregular verbs), (5) Ending change-irregularity (irregular verbs with changes in the endings by phoneme substitution). The first three types are regarded as regular verbal inflections whereas the latter two types are regarded as irregular verbal inflections. The infinitive forms of the verb were presented as target words and three different conditions were presented as prime words. The three conditions included regular verbal inflection, irregular verbal inflection, and a control condition in which morphologically and semantically unrelated primes were presented. In addition, different stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA) were manipulated (43ms, 72ms, 230ms) to examine the time frame of the morphological decomposition process in word recognition. The results revealed that there were significant priming effects in all three SOAs across conditions. Hence, there was no significant differences in priming effects between regular and irregular verbal inflection conditions. This may suggest that Korean verb processing does not adopt different processing routes for regular and irregular inflections, which can also be an indication of earlier morphological information processing for Korean verbs.

The effect of syntatic and pragmatic Constraints on Sentential Representaition and Memory Accessibility (통사적 제약과 화용적 제약이 문장의 표상과 기억접근에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate how syntaction and pragmatic constraints influence the sentential representation and memory accessibility. In order to seperate the syntactic constraints from the pragmatic constraint from the pragmatic constraints,the syntactic role of constituent in the sentence (subject or object) and the order of mention(first or second) were manipulted.After each sentence was presented by RSVP procedure,the probe recognition time was measured to investigate memory accessibility.In Experiment 1,in which SOA interval was 255ms,it was found that the subject of a sentece were more accessible than the object and participants first in a sentence were more accessible than participants mentioned later.However, in Experiment 2,in which SOA interval was 1540ms,it was found that participants mentioned first in a sentence were more accessible than participants mentioned later while there was no significant difference between the subject and object of a sentece.These results suggest that the syntactic and pragmatic constraints have an independent effect on the initial senential representation at the early stage of constructing representation,but as time passes only the pragmatic constraints influence sentential representation.These results also support a theoretical position which assumes that sentential representation is constructed through the process of convergent statisfaction of multiple constraints.

A USEFULNESS OF KEDI-INDIVIDUAL BASIC LEARNING SKILLS TEST AS A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL OF LEARNING DISORDERS (학습 장애아 진단 도구로 기초 학습 기능 검사의 유용성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine usefulness of KEDI-Individual Basic Learning Skills Test as a diagnostic tool of learning disorders(LD). Learning disorder group consisted of two subgroups, verbal learning disorder group(VLD, n=34) and nonverbal learning disorder group(NVLD, n=14). Comparison group consisted of Dysthymia Disorder subgroup(n=11) and Normal subgroup(n=20). Performance of intelligence test and achievement test was examined in all 4 subgroups. In KEDI-WISC, VLD subgroup revealed primary problems in vocabulary, information and verbal-auditory attention test. NVLD group revealed primary problems in almost all performance tests such as visual acuity, psycho-motor coordination speed and visual-spatial organizations ability subtest. In KEDI-Individual Basic Learning Test, VLD group revealed primary problems in phonological coding process, word recognition and mathematics. For successful classification of LD children, the importance of achievement test and intelligence test was discussed by discriminant analysis and factor analysis. The results indicate that KEDI-Individual Basic Learning Skills is of considerable usefulness in diagnosing LD, but must be used in subtests, and additional tests must be conducted for thorough exploration of LD.

A Study on the Menu Selection Factors of an Italian Restaurant on Satisfaction (이태리 레스토랑의 메뉴선택 속성요인이 만족도에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the menu selection attributes in Italian restaurants located in Jeonju area and analyze their customers' using patterns and favorite menu items in each menu section. The results are as follows. First, in terms of significance of choosing a menu item in Italian restaurants, the most important factors are defined as health management factors, service management factors, food management factors, and menu management factors. After the verification of satisfaction, there are significant differences in the health management factors. Second, in terms of Italian restaurant visiting patterns, the recognition level of Italian food was positive, number of visits per month was averagely once or twice a month, major companions were family members, main purpose was to having meals, and information of the food was acquired by word of mouth. Third, in each menu section, the most popular dishes were the one using mozzarella cheese in the antipasto, asparagus cream soup in the soup, carbonara in the pasta, the pizza topped with mozzarella cheese, salami, black olive, and tomato sauce in the pizza, fresh mozzarella cheese tomato salad in the salad, beef tenderloin steak and pan-fried halibut in the main dish, fresh fruits and tiramisu in the dessert. For future studies, there should be various researches and analyses for significant factors when selecting menu by each segment and group from the entire sample.

A Study of Acoustic Masking Effect from Formant Enhancement in Digital Hearing Aid (디지털 보청기에서의 포먼트 강조에 의한 마스킹 효과 연구)

  • Although digital hearing aid algorithms have been developed to compensate hearing loss and to help hearing impaired people to communicate with others, digital hearing aid user still complain about difficulty of hearing the speech. The reason could be the quality of speech through digital hearing aid is insufficient to understand the speech caused by feedback, residual noise and etc. And another thing is masking effect among formants that makes sound quality low. In this study, we measured the masking characteristics of normal listeners and hearing impaired listeners having presbyacusis to confirm masking effect in speech itself. The experiment is composed of 5 tests; pure tone test, speech reception threshold (SRT) test, word recognition score (WRS) test, puretone masking test and speech masking test. In speech masking test, there are 25 speeches in each speech set. And log likelihood ratio (LLR) is introduced to evaluate the distortion of each speech objectively. As a result, the speech perception became lower by increasing the quantity of formant enhancement. And each enhanced speech in a speech set has statistically similar LLR, however speech perception is not. It means that acoustic masking effect rather than distortion influences speech perception. In actuality, according to the result of frequency analysis of the speech that people can not answer correctly, level difference between first formant and second formant is about 35dB, and it is similar to result of pure tone masking test(normal hearing subject:36.36dB, hearing impaired subject:32.86dB). Characteristics of masking effect is not similar between normal listeners and hearing impaired listeners. So it is required to check the characteristics of masking effect before wearing a hearing aid and to apply this characteristics to fitting.

Recognition Method of Korean Abnormal Language for Spam Mail Filtering (스팸메일 필터링을 위한 한글 변칙어 인식 방법)

  • As electronic mails are being widely used for facility and speedness of information communication, as the amount of spam mails which have malice and advertisement increase and cause lots of social and economic problem. A number of approaches have been proposed to alleviate the impact of spam. These approaches can be categorized into pre-acceptance and post-acceptance methods. Post-acceptance methods include bayesian filters, collaborative filtering and e-mail prioritization which are based on words or sentances. But, spammers are changing those characteristics and sending to avoid filtering system. In the case of Korean, the abnormal usages can be much more than other languages because syllable is composed of chosung, jungsung, and jongsung. Existing formal expressions and learning algorithms have the limits to meet with those changes promptly and efficiently. So, we present an methods for recognizing Korean abnormal language(Koral) to improve accuracy and efficiency of filtering system. The method is based on syllabic than word and Smith-waterman algorithm. Through the experiment on filter keyword and e-mail extracted from mail server, we confirmed that Koral is recognized exactly according to similarity level. The required time and space costs are within the permitted limit.

Handwritten Hangul Word Recognition from Small Vocabulary using Grapheme Combination Type (자모 결합 유형을 이용한 적은 어휘에서의 필기 한글 단어 인식)

  • 필기 단어 인식 방법에는 낱자별 분할 및 낱자 단위 인식을 통해 인식하는 방법과 단어 사전을 이용하여 단어와 영상을 직접 비교하는 방법이 있다. 이 중 후자는 인식 대상이 되는 단어들이 작은 수의 어휘로 제한되었을 대 매우 효과적이다. 본 논문에서는 입력 영상이 주어졌을 때 자모를 순차적으로 탐색하고 그 결과의 최적 조합을 찾아 인식하는 사전을 이용한 필기 한글 단어 인식 방법을 제안한다. 입력 영상은 사전의 각 단어와의 매칭을 통해 인식된다. 단어는 필기 순서로 정렬된 자모열로 표현하고 입력 영상은 획들의 집합으로 표현한다. 단어의 자모들은 입력 영상으로부터 추출된 획들의 집합으로부터 단계적으로 탐색된다. 각 단계에서는 전 단계까지의 매칭 상태와 탐색하려는 자모의 형태로부터 자모가 존재할 것이라고 기대되는 정합 기대 영역을 설정한 후 그 안에서 자모 탐색기를 이용해 자모를 찾는다. 자모 탐색기는 획들의 집합으로 이루어진 복수의 자모 후보와 그 점수를 출력한다. 각 단계마다 생성된 자모 후보들은 최적의 단어 매칭을 찾기 위한 탐색 공간을 이룬다. 본 연구에서는 단어 사전을 trie로 구성하고, 탐색 과정에서 dynamic programming을 이용하여 효과적으로 탐색을 수행하였다. 또한 인식 속도를 향상시키기 위해 산전 축소, 탐색 공간 축소 등 다양한 지식을 이용하였다. 제안하는 방법은 무제약으로 쓰여진 필기 단어도 인식 할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 동적 사전을 이용하기 때문에 사전의 내용이 변하는 환경에서도 적용할 수 있다. 인식 실험에서는 39개의 단어로 이루어진 사전에 대하여 613개의 단어 영상에 대해 실험한 결과 98.54%의 높은 인식률을 보임으로써 제안하는 방법이 매우 효과적임을 확인하였다. 아니라 곰팡이 균주도 실제 praxis에 적합하게 개발시킬수 있다. 따라서 앞으로 발효육제품제조에 있어 starter culture가 갖는 의미는 매우 중요하며 특히 짧은 숙성기간을 거치는 발효소시지의 제조에 있어서는 필수불가결한 공정의 한 분야로 자리잡게 될 것이다.큰 차이 없었으나 이중포장과 진공포장은 상당히 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.로는 18%에 비하여 22%가 더 적합한 것으로 생각되었다.$0.15{\sim}0.35%$이었다.irc}C$에서 $13.49{\times}10^{-3}$이었다. 이 값들을 Arrhenius식에 대입하여 구한 활성화 에너지는 24.795 kJ/Kmol이었다. 이 값으로부터 결정한 살균 포장약주 명가의 상용 저장 수명은 $10^{\circ}C$에서 2년, $20^{\circ}C$에서 1년 4개월, $25^{\circ}C$에서 1년 2개월 이었다. 서울의 매월 평균 온도를 기준으로 계산할 때 본제품의 상용저장기간은 1년 8개월이었다.로 반죽이 호화되고 가열시간이 그 이상으로 증가할 때도 반죽의 호화가 약간은 진행되지만 $90^{\circ}C$ 이상의 가열온도에서는 가열시간 0.5분 이내에 반죽의 호화가 급속히 일어나고 가열 시간을 증가시켜도 더이상의 호화는 일어나지 않았다. 같은 조건에서는 waxy corn starch 반죽의 호화 속도가 corn starch보다 더 빠른 것으로 나타났다. 대표적으로 52% 수분함량에서 반응속도상수(k)와 가열온도(T)사이의 관계식은 corn starch의 경우 $logk=11.1140-4.1226{\times}10^3(1/T)

A Method to Develop Security System through the Analysis on Dangerous Case (위해사례분석을 통한 경호제도의 발전방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a development method of current Korean security system by analyzing the problems shown in the performance of security work in relation to the terrorism, which is enlarging in the word, from various aspects. In order to perform the study, the researcher considered the basic theory concerned to current Korean law concerned to security, principle and methodology of security, terror and new terrorism. The researcher performed the study by selecting qualitative case study focused on Park Geun-Hye case. Through the study, the methods to develop Korean security system are as follows. First, from the legal aspect, it is necessary to establish the law concerned to terrorism prevention and important person security. Moreover, it is necessary to search for the development of private security by revising Security Industry Act, which is a legal ground of private security. Second, it is necessary to improve and reinforce education & training program, which is not still divided in detail from the aspect of private security cultivation. Moreover, it is necessary to activate personal protection work and enlarge market through Security Industry Act and make an effort to change social recognition over security, which is devaluated in the society. From the viewpoint, national license about private security shall be adopted. The department of president security, which is a representative of official security, shall transfer the advanced technology to private security organization. Third, from the aspect of operation, the operation of security based on SCE principle, human shield principle, the nearest person's protection principle, body extension principle, linear protection principle and evacuation priority principle is required. Therefore, the priority shall be given to preventive security and thorough security plan shall be made for the operation.
