S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine Analogues to Enhance the Production of Actinorhodin

  • It is known that overexpression of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) synthetase or exogenous addition of SAM enhances the production of actinorhodin, one of pigmented antibiotics found from Streptomyces coelicolor. In order to discover a novel compound as a signal molecule to produce actinorhodin instead of SAM, several compounds were synthesized based on the relationships between structures of the SAM analogues and their actinorhodin productivities. Of these, a few compounds showed better productivities of actinorhodin than SAM.

Effect of Auricular Acupuncture for Mental Stress on Heart Rate Variability(HRV) (이침 요법이 정신적 스트레스를 가한 성인의 심박변이도에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to assess the effect auricular acupuncture for acute mental stress using power spectrum analysis of the heart rate variability(HRV). Methods : 10 healthy volunteers participated in this study. After 5 minute rest, the first mental stress was provided for 5 minute. And then subjects rested for 15 minute. The second mental stress was provided for 5 minute. The acupoint, Shin-Mun point of the ear was stimulated for 15 minute. HRV was recorded before and after the first and second mental stress, and after auricular acupuncture stimulation. Results : After mental stress, normalized LF and LF/HF ratio is significantly increased. Before and after simple rest, normalized LF and normalized HF is significantly changed, but LF and LF/HF ratio is not significantly changed. On the other hand, before and after auricular acupuncture treatment, normalized LF, normalized HF is significantly changed, and also LF and LF/HF ratio is significantly decreased. Conclusion : The result suggest that auricular acupuncture can decrease more significantly in cardiac sympathetic activity due to mental stress than simple rest.

『의림촬요(醫林撮要)-삼소문(三消門)』의 의학적 성취

  • Following former study(A Study of the Perception of SoGal in the early through mid Chosun Dynasty-Focusing on "UiBangYuChi(醫方類聚)" and "DongUiBoGam(東醫寶鑑)", there were medical attainments in this study on SoGal(消渴) of "UiRimChualYo(醫林撮要) SamSoMun(三消門)". 1. SoGal(消渴) theory of "UiRimChualYo(醫林撮要) SamSoMun(三消門)" presented the lack of Bodily Liquids and Blood theory(津液 血不足論) overcoming the limits of the fire/heat theory(火熱論). 2. In the "UiRimChualYo(醫林撮要) SamSoMun(三消門)", the concept of SoGal was started to change simple symptoms into the diseases including ethology, pathology and prognosis etc. 3. In the "UiRimChualYo(醫林撮要) SamSoMun(三消門)", the prescriptions of JaEum(滋陰) were thought significantly. On the other hand the prescriptions of HuaYul(火熱) were excluded at all. 4. The use of warm herb like BuJa(附子) was showed through GaGamSinGiHwan(加 減腎氣丸) and succeeded in "DongUiBoGam" the kidney's fire(坎火衰少論) lack theory. The futuristic percetion of "UiRimChualYo(醫林撮要) SamSoMun(三消門)" influenced "DongUiBoGam(東醫寶鑑)" was able to have progress ideas about SoGal.
