This study has been attempted to measure health education needs-assessment of middle-aged women and to analyze the factors affecting health education needs-assessment. There were 618 subjects(middle-aged women, 40 to 59 years of age). The major findings of the study were as follows: 1. Seventy six point six percent of the respondents wanted health education. The remainder did not want health education because of the lack of the time. 2. For those desiring to receive health education, there was statistically significant difference in education(p〈0.001), income(p〈0.05), employment(p〈0.05), recreation(p〈0.001), knowledge on health(p〈0.001), routine medical check-ups(p〈0.01) and health education experience(p〈0.001). 3. Forty nine percent of the respondents wanted formal education as a way of education and 41.7% wanted life-long education center for the place of education. Sixty two point five percent of responded that ‘once a month’ is adequate for the health education, and 62.7% felt that ‘around one hour’ duration is appropriate. 4. The area the respondents were most interested in was disease control especially in the order of cancer and osteoporosis. 5. There was statistically significant difference between the age group of 40's and 50's in personal health care and environmental health area(p〈0.01), weight control area(p〈0.01), mental health and exercise area(p〈0.05), drinking and smoking area(p〈0.01). 6. The more knowledge on health, the higher health education needs-assessment. Middleaged women who received routine medical check-ups had more health education needs-assessments than those who didn't.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to provide resources to develop oral health education programs to make schoolchildren be able to do oral care behaviors voluntarily by analyzing the factors affecting elementary school students's oral health behaviors. Methods : A self administered questionnaire based survey was conducted with 233 students (117 boys, 116 girls) of sixth graders at Gyeonggi Province from September 1st to October 2nd, 2012. Researchers explained to willing participants the purpose of this study and then, asked respondents to complete their own questionnaire. A total of 233 questionnaires were properly completed while 7 questionnaires had insincere sections and were thus excepted. Results : 1. Children's higher level of oral health-related knowledge have more positive oral health attitudes(p=0.000) and oral health behaviors(p=0.001). 2. The higher oral health behavior mothers have, the more students have oral health knowledge and better oral health attitude, the higher the oral health behavior children have(p<0.01). 3. Students' positive attitude towards oral health(${\beta}$=0.548, p=0.000) and Mother's more attention to Oral check after tooth-brushing(${\beta}$=-0.149, p=0.005) were associated with children's sound dental health behaviors. Conclusions : The findings of this study suggest that the oral health knowledge, attitude and behaviors are associated with students' oral health behavior. Thus, effective support in oral health education, is need to be enhanced among the elementary school students rather than only focus on conveying knowledge to them. Since, mother's oral health-related knowledge and attitudes on the tooth-brushing behaviour and dental health of their children influence on child's oral health, the development of Comprehensive oral health education program into the mother and child needs to be carried out.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mother's knowledge level of breastfeeding's benefit and rationale of breastfeeding's benefit. The subjects were 98 mothers who within 3 days after childbirth in 2 obstetric clinic in K city and N city from April 7 to May 10, 1996. Data were collected by a questionnaire developed by researchers. This study was statistically analyzed according to Frequency, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The result of this study was as follows : 1. Mean score of mother's knowledge level of breastfeeding's benefit was ranged from $0{\sim}19$. Mean score of breastfeeding's benefit was 10.28. Mean score of rationale of breastfeeding's benefit was 8.57. Mean score of rationale of breastfeeding's benefit and rationale of breastfeeding's benefit was not high. 2. General characteristics and feeding characteristics were significantly related to mother's knowledge level of breastfeeding's benefit as follows : mixed feeding method in planning feeding method(F=3.33, p<.05) 3. General characteristics and feeding characteristics were significantly related to mother's knowledge level of rationale of breastfeeding's benefit as follows : mixed feeding method in planning method(F=3.96, p<.05), mixed feeding method in previous feeding method(F=3.16, p<.05). 4. A positive correlation between mother's knowledge of breastfeeding's benefit and rationale of breastfeeding's benefit was statistically significant(r=.86, p<.001).
Background: Cervical cancer though preventable is still the leading cause of cancer death among women secondary to breast cancer. Persistent infection with HPV has been causally linked to the disease. A school based HPV vaccination program was introduced in late 2010 in Malaysia and nurse support is essential for its success. Objectives: To determine nurses knowledge and attitudes about HPV infection and its vaccines, and factors associated with their knowledge. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among nurses working at primary health clinics in Kelantan from mid-June till the end of July 2014. Its involved 330 nurses selected through multistage random sampling. A validated self-administered questionnaire consisting of 11 items for the knowledge domain and eight items for the attitude domain was used. Results: The response rate of the study was 93.7%. The mean knowledge and mean attitude (SD) scores were 5.37 (1.76) and 29.8 (3.51) respectively. Only 24% knew that HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection and 67% correctly answered that Gardasil vaccine can protect against four types of HPV. Nearly 60% of participants wrongly answered that HPV vaccines cannot be offered to sexually active women. Likewise, 70.9% participants were not aware that HPV vaccine may be appropriate for females aged 9 through 26 years. Though 90% of participants believed that the vaccine is safe, nearly half of them were unsure about efficacy. From multiple linear regression analysis, among the factors tested only participant's level of education showed a statistically significant association with the HPV knowledge score (p <0.001). Conclusions: This study indicates nurses have favorable attitudes towards HPV vaccination; however they have significant knowledge deficit and major misunderstanding in critical knowledge items. Among the factors tested, nursing qualification is the only factor that is significantly associated with the nurses knowledge score.

Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to examine the effect of women's empowerment on the immunization of Indonesian children. The secondary objective was to examine the effect of wealth as a factor modifying this association. Methods: We utilized data from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS). The subjects were married women with children aged 12-23 months (n=3532). Complete immunization was defined using the 2017 IDHS definition. Multiple components of women's empowerment were measured: enabling resources, decision-making involvement, and attitude toward intimate partner violence. The primary analysis was conducted using binomial logistic regression. Model 1 represented only the indicators of women's empowerment and model 2 controlled for socio-demographic variables. Subgroup analyses were conducted for each wealth group. Results: The primary analysis using model 1 identified several empowerment indicators that facilitated complete immunization. The analysis using model 2 found that maternal education and involvement in decision-making processes facilitated complete immunization in children. Subgroup analyses identified that wealth had a modifying effect. The indicators of women's empowerment were strong determinants of complete immunization in lower wealth quintiles but insignificant in middle-income and higher-income quintiles. Conclusions: To our knowledge, this study is the first to explore women's empowerment as a determinant of child immunization in Indonesia. The results indicate that women's empowerment must be considered in Indonesia's child immunization program. Women's empowerment was not found to be a determinant in higher wealth quintiles, which led us to rethink the conceptual framework of the effect of women's empowerment on health outcomes.
This study was designed to investigate the knowledge of urinary incontinence and its affecting factors among women aged over 30 years in Korea, and to provide the basic data for the primary urinary incontinence management program through the community-based cross sectional study from May 7 to July 18, 2000. The subjects, who were able to understand the questionnaires and consented their participation in the study, consisted of 2183 women, aged over 30 up to 89 years, residing in Seoul, Kyongki$\cdot$Kangwon, Chungchong, YongNam, HoNam, Cheju provinces. It took about 20 to 30 minutes to fill up the questionnaires. The data were analyzed by multiple regression with using SAS program. The results were as follows ; 1. The overall reported knowledge of urinary incontinence was $5.21\pm3.05$(range 0-14). Over the half of the subjects gave the correct answer to 5 items which referred to effects, treatment and management of urinary incontinence. Among items associated with the cause, two items, such as 'many common over-the-counter medications can cause involuntary urine loss', and 'involuntary urine loss is caused by only one or two conditions', were less likely to be correctly answered. 2. Those who were younger, had more education, or had urinary incontinence, were more likely to provide correct answers. The above findings indicated that the education program and campaign of the urinary incontinence should be developed and operated for those who are elderly and have had less education.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore preserved belief system supporting Korean immigrant women's Taekyo practices and influencing factors while they observe the tradition within US sociocultural context. Methods: Leininger's exploratory focused ethnographic approach was used. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with purposive sample of sixteen Korean immigrant women who gave birth in the US within last 6 months. Researcher's observation and reflective field notes were also integrated into the interview data. Leininger and McFarland's four phases of ethnographic analysis guided data analysis process. Results: The perceived belief system supporting Taekyo practices included Taekyo as an enculturated Korean tradition, connecting parents with fetus, and positive impacts on fetal development. And Korean immigrant women's Taekyo practices were influenced by resources of information, woman's orientation toward Taekyo, pressure from local Korean community, and child order. Conclusion: The findings from this research would serve as an important knowledge base to expand US health care providers' understanding of Korean traditional Taekyo practices observed by Korean immigrant women's as important prenatal self-care practices. The findings could also aid in providing more patient-centered and culturally-tailored prenatal care plan to Korean immigrant by including Korean traditional belief system supporting Taekyo practices.
This study inrestigated the dietary behavior, nutritional intake, and health status of industrial workers. Two hundred seventy workers(165 men and 105 women) in Masan, who were provided food services were selected as survey subjects. They were given questionnaires on nutrition knowledge, food frequency questionnaires, and blood analysis were conducted through an annual health examination from May to August 1998. The average age of the subjects was $35.7\pm{11.8}$ years, and 80% the of women were in their teens and 20's and 80% of men were in their 30's and 40's. The nutrition knowledge score was higher in women than in men, while food habit score was higher in men than in women. As age increase, the degree of life stress became lower and food habit score was higher in men than in women. As age increases, the degree of life stress became lower and food habit was improved. In women, all nutrient intakes were avove the recommended dietary allowances(RDA), and in men intakes of only vitamin E and calcium were under RDA. Levels of serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, and blood glucose, blood pressure, body mass index were positively related to age. The number of subjects suspected of having chronic disease was the highest for those in their 40's. The results indicate that nutritional status of industrial workers in the present study was fairly good probably due to food services, but their health status should be supervised as their age increases.

The results were as follow: 1. The level of knowledge about AIDS; The correct answer mean score of knowledge before education was 13.7 out of 28. The correct answer mean score of knowledge after education was 17.6 out of 28. 2. The education effect about AIDS related knowledge according to 28 questions; Almost of questions were significantly increased correct answer rate about AIDS related knowledge except 2 questions. 3. The education effect about AIDS related knowledge according to workers' general characteristics: The significant general characteristics of health education effect that impact on the knowledge score were women, the teenth, the twentieth, unmarrige state, lower senior high school graduated, sexual experience had or not, over five occupational career, education time, health education experience had or not. 4. The education effect of AIDS related attitude: Significant change of attitude related AIDS were found 7 out of 9 questions.
This study aimed to develop an educational program on cervical cancer prevention and human papillomavirus (HPV) for female North Korean refugees and to assess the effect of the program. This study used a nonequivalent control group with a pretest-posttest design. The participants were 42 female North Korean refugees in their 20s residing in South Korea. Measurements included cervical cancer knowledge, HPV knowledge, attitude toward HPV vaccination, and intention for HPV vaccination. Statistically significant differences emerged in levels of cervical cancer knowledge (U = 40.00, p < .001), HPV knowledge (U = 4.50, p < .001), and attitude toward HPV vaccination (U = 128.00, p = .013) between the experimental and control group. The educational program is an effective nursing intervention to improve cervical cancer knowledge, HPV knowledge, and attitude toward HPV vaccination of female North Korean refugees. Stakeholders must work to establish health policies to reduce health disparities between South and North Korean women to prepare for unification.
