  • In this paper, an application program is made to simulate the behavior of a ship block under various crane works and to generate data of lu9 reactions and wire tensions. The program is based on a CAD program, Pro/ENGINEER. A ship is composed of more than 100 ship blocks. In order to lift, move, turn, or put a ship block at a convenient location fur assembling, workers in a shipyard use cranes, wires, and lugs temporarily attached to the block. In the procedure of lifting and turning a ship block with a crane, it is important to find suitable lug points and wires to do the handling efficiently and prevent accidents. Evaluation of forces in lugs and wires is necessary, but the problem is rather complex due to nonlinearity and nonuniqueness. In the present development, the nonlinear system of equations for quasi-static equilibriums is derived and a Newton type solution method is adopted to solve the system. The importance of initial estimates to the solution is illustrated and two approaches are utilized and compared. With the program developed, users can assign lug points on the CAD model by mouse and choose various linking devices at each crane point. Users can try to simulate the motion for any prescribed conditions, compare the motion of the block and the reactions and choose appropriate lug points and the type of wires and lugs.

Bi2212/Ag 선재의 초전도 특성에 대한 열처리의 영향 (Effect of Heat Treatment on Superconducting Properties on Bi2212/Ag Wire)

  • We have fabricated double stacked 385 filamentary Bi2212/Ag round wires which have different Ag ratios. The wires have been heat-treated at the maximum temperature($T_{max}$) of $882{\sim}896^{\circ}C$ for 0.5 h. Effect of heat treatment on critical current density and critical temperature on Bi2212/Ag round wires has been studied. Critical current density of the wire heat -treated at $890^{\circ}C$ showed 206,250 $A/cm^2$ at 4.2 K, 0 T and critical temperature of the wire was 83 K. Microstructure of the wires also has been studied via optical microscopy and SEM.

  • Ag-Cu alloy nano powders were fabricated by the electrical explosion of Cu-plated Ag wires. Ag wires of 0.2mm diameter was electroplated to final diameter of 0.220 mm and 0.307 mm which correspond to Ag-27Cu and Ag-68Cu alloy. The explosion product consisted of equilibrium phases of ${\alpha}-Ag$ and ${\beta}$-Cu. The particle size of Ag-Cu nano powders were 44 nm and 70 nm for 0.220 mm and 0.307 mm wires, respectively. The Ag-Cu nano powders contained less Cu than average value due to higher sublimation energy compared to that of Ag. As a result, micron-sized spherical particles formed from liquid droplets contained higher Cu content.

  • This study aims to examine the risk of electrical fire in places where electric heat wires are used. In general, the use of electric heating wires is becoming more common and prevalent in a bid to prevent increasing damage caused by freezing and bursting in residential water pipes, factory pipes and irrigation pipes in vinyl greenhouse and a variety of heat wire products are available in market with legal safety requirements imposed on them. However, the widespread use of anti-freezing burst heat wire products has caused increasing incidents of fire, which often fail to be incorporated into statistics due to quick onsite extinguishing and insignificant damage although damage is gradually on the rise. Against this backdrop, this study aims to look into the possibility of ignition caused by electric heat wires and the mechanism of how it turns into catching fire through overheat and short circuit tests for anti-freezing burst electrical heat wires (hereinafter called the 'heat wire') and expects to serve as the basis for further observations and analyses on the cause of fire and the process of ignition in a scientific manner.

  • A numerical analysis is carried out to study the two-dimensional steady state natural convection from vertical wires immersed in cold pure water. The surface of the wire is $0^{\circ}C$ unifrom temperature. Results of the analysis are presented for free stream temperature from $0^{\circ}C$ to $25^{\circ}C$ and the aspect ratio N from $5.26{\times}10^{-3}$ to $1.0{\times}10^{-3}$. The effects of the density extremum and aspect ratio on the flow pattern and the heat transfer characteristics are discussed As the aspect ratio N becomes larger, in the range of $1.0^{\circ}C{\leq}T_{\infty}{\leq}4.4^{\circ}C$ and $6{^{\circ}C}{\leq}T_{\infty}{\leq}17^{\circ}C$, the effect of Pr number on the heat transfer is shown to be more significant than the aspect ratio. Investigating into the effect of the density extremum on the heat transfer from wires, the new heat transfer correlations are suggested with the relation of average Nu mumber vs. modified Ra number. Here, the coefficient values C of correlations are presented as the function of density extremum parameter $R^*$. The effects of the density extremum parameter are also discussed.

Failure analysis of prestressing steel wires

  • This paper treats the failure analysis of prestressing steel wires with different kinds of localised damage in the form of a surface defect (crack or notch) or as a mechanical action (transverse loads). From the microscopical point of view, the micromechanisms of fracture are shear dimples (associated with localised plasticity) in the case of the transverse loads and cleavage-like (related to a weakest-link fracture micromechanism) in the case of cracked wires. In the notched geometries the microscopic modes of fracture range from the ductile micro-void coalescence to the brittle cleavage, depending on the stress triaxiality in the vicinity of the notch tip. From the macroscopical point of view, fracture criteria are proposed as design criteria in damage tolerance analyses. The transverse load situation is solved by using an upper bound theorem of limit analysis in plasticity. The case of the cracked wire may be treated using fracture criteria in the framework of linear elastic fracture mechanics on the basis of a previous finite element computation of the stress intensity factor in the cracked cylinder. Notched geometries require the use of elastic-plastic fracture mechanics and numerical analysis of the stress-strain state at the failure situation. A fracture criterion is formulated on the basis of the critical value of the effective or equivalent stress in the Von Mises sense.

  • To investigate the effect of properties of pores in anodic alumina template(AAT) on the formation and characteristics of metal nano wires, Cu and Ni nano wires were manufactured using anodic alumina template formed in various electrolytes. The characteristics of prepared metal nano wires using AAT could be replicated from those of pores in AAT. The diameters of nano wires could be controlled by the widening process of anodic porous film in $H_3PO_4$ solution. The shape ratio of the nano wire was shown to be $170{\pm}30$ for Ni nano wire formed by AAT made in sulfuric acid.

  • 본 논문에서는 저압 배선 진단 시스템 개발을 위한 지능형 차단 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 배선 진단 시스템은 TFDR(Time-Frequency Domain Reflectometry) 알고리즘을 통해 배선이 어떤 상태인지를 보여 주는 시스템이다. 그리고 제안된 진단 시스템으로부터 얻은 신호를 분석하여 이상 종류에 따라 분류하는 시스템을 통해 지능형 차단 시스템을 제안한다. 일반적으로, TFDR을 통해 알아 낼 수 있는 이상의 종류는 damage, open 그리고 short 이다. 각 상황에 대한 효율적인 분류를 위하여 IF-THEN 규칙에 기반 한 분류기가 사용된다. 기존 TFDR이 수행되었던 통신선 케이블의 실험 데이터에 기반 한 실험을 통해 본 제안 내용의 우수성을 보이게 된다.

시험선로 결빙방지를 위한 융설시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on Snow Melting System for the Anti-freezing Testing Road)

  • The snow melting system by electric heating wires which is adopted in this study is a part of road facilities to keep surface temperature of the road higher than freezing point of water for melting the snow accumulated on it. The system is designed to increase traffic safety and capacity. The electric heating wires are buried under paved road at a certain depth and operated automatically and manually. Design theory, amount of heating, and installation standard vary according to economic situation, weather condition, and installation place where the system applies. It is tried to figure out that the appropriate range of required heat capacity and installation depth and intervals for solving snowdrifts and freezing problems with the minimum electric power consumption. The most important factors to design the system are calculation of heating capacity depending on weather condition and depth and interval of the electric heating wires depending on air condition respectively. The study were performed under the range of the air temperatures($-2^{\circ}C,\;-5^{\circ}C,\;-8^{\circ}C$), the intervals of the electric heating wires(70mm, 100mm, 125mm), and the installation depths(50mm, 70mm, 100mm). The ready made commercial program package was used to verify the experimental results.

  • This paper describes a human finger model driven by shape memory alloy(SMA) wires. The finger model has three joints that are similar to human finger. Each joint is actuated with two wires in the antagonistic manner and six wires are used to actuate three finger joint. In order to obtain the desirable finger motion, the diameters of the SMA wires are designed with different diameters by considering the required actuating force and response time. The rotary sensors are used to measure the angle positions of the joints and PWM control using PID algorithm is used to achieve desired angle positions of the finger joints. After estimating the control performance of each finger joint for the desired angle position, the antagonistic motion control of the finger model is experimentally evaluated.
