Considering the localization estimation issue in mixed line-of-sight (LOS)/non-LOS(NLOS) environments based on received signal strength (RSS) measurements in wireless sensor networks, a grid-based correlation method based on the relationship between distance and RSS is proposed in this paper. The Maximum-Likelihood (ML) estimator is appended to further improve the localization accuracy. Furthermore, in order to reduce computation load and enhance performance, an improved recursively version with NLOS mitigation is also proposed. The most advantages of the proposed localization algorithm is that, it does not need any prior knowledge of the propagation model parameters and therefore does not need any offline calibration effort to calibrate the model parameters in harsh environments, which makes it more convenient for rapid implementation in practical applications. The simulation and experimental results evidence that the proposed localization algorithm exhibits good localization performance and flexibilities for different devices.

In this paper, an uplink pilot signal structure is proposed for millimeter wave(mmWave)-based mobile wireless backhaul. For the transmit diversity of two antenna ports, uplink pilot signals generated from the Zadoff-Chu sequence can be mapped in an interleaved mode or continuous mode on the frequency axis, and channel estimation algorithms are different depending on the pilot signal mapping schemes. Through a simulation under Rayleigh fading channel assuming a subway scenario, the interleaved mapping scheme showed no performance degradation compared to the continuous mapping scheme and the implementation complexity of the uplink channel estimator was reduced due to the interleaved mapping scheme.
The wireless sensor network (WSN) based ECG and body temperature measuring system for ubiquitous health-care were designed and developed. The system was composed of a wireless sensor network node, base station and server computer for the continuous monitoring of ECG signals and body temperatures of patients at home or hospital. ECG signal and body temperature data, important vital signals which are commonly used in clinical and trauma care, were displayed on a graphical user interface (GUI). The data transfer from sensor nodes on patients' body to server computer was accomplished through a base-station connected to a server computer using Zigbee compatible IEEE802.15.4 standard wireless communication. Real-time as well as historical, ECG data of elderly persons or patients, can also be retrieved and played back to assist the diagnosis. The ubiquitous health care system presented in this study can effectively reduce social medical expenses, which will be increased greatly in the coming aging society.

By virtue of Rec. ITU-R P.1546 and geography information system, interference analysis for the fixed wireless system and radar has been presented based upon the frequency-distance rules with minimum coupling loss, and a comprehensive methodology for assessing interoperability between systems was examined in terms of received signal, protection ratio, frequency dependent rejection. Also to find the antenna gain from a discrimination angle, a useful S-I plane was introduced based on signal and interference vectors derived from the real map with geographic information. To show some computational results, geography information on the map was taken for the given area, and field strength and path profile were illustrated for the radar and fixed wireless system operating at 2.7 GHz, for convenience. In addition the interference effect of receiver was also checked as a function of radar beam direction including protection ratio and frequency dependent rejection. The developed interference analysis can be actually applied to evaluate interoperability for wireless systems in the VHF and UHF bands.

Vital sign monitoring system using IEEE 502.IS.4 based wireless sensor network(WSN) is designed and developed on mobile environment and sensor node platform. WSN and CDMA are integrated to create a wide coverage to support various environments like inside and outside. We developed query processor to use selective any devices(ECG, Blood pressure and sugar module) and control of the self-organizing network of sensor nodes in a wireless sensor network. Vital sign from wireless medical any devices are analysed in cell phone first for real time signal analyses and the abnormal vital signs are sent and save to hospital server for detail signal processing. wireless signal traffic in wireless sensor network environment or data communication inside the cell phone is reduced.

In this paper, a low-cost, flexible GPS simulator based on USRP is designed as a general-purpose software wireless front-end. The simulator consists of a software GPS signal generator and a USRP-based RF transmitter. The simulator supports various scenarios including specified reception time, quantization bit level, I/Q data types, IF frequency, sampling frequency, SNR, ionospheric delay and user dynamics. The generated GPS RF signal is verified using the spectrum analyzer and off-the-shelf GNSS receivers such as U-blox M8T. The experimental results shows that the difference between generated and real live signal is ignorable. It is expected that designed GPS simulator can be used to GNSS signal design, receiver design and signal processing algorithms such as anti-jamming.
In this paper presents the portable wireless ECG data detection and diagnosis system based on discreet wavelet transform. An algorithm based on wavelet transform suitable for real time implementation has been developed in order to detect ECG characteristics. In particular, QRS complex, S and T waves may be distinguished form noise, baseline drift or artifacts. Proposed telemetry system that a transmitting media using radio frequency(RF) for the middle range measurement of the physiological signals and receiving media using optical for electromagnetic interference problem. A standard hi-directional serial communication interface between the telemetry system and a personal computer or laptop, allows read-time controlling, diagnosing and monitoring of system. A portable telemetry system within a size. of 65${\times}$125${\times}$45mm consists of three parts: a digital signal processing part for physiological signal detect or diagnose, RF transmitter for data transfer and a optical receiver for command receive. Advantages of proposed telemetry system is wireless middle range(50m) FM transmission, reduce electromagnetic interference to a minimum. which enables a comfortable diagnosis system at home.

Recently, the new issues for the safety and the information delivery system in the ship are raised. The deployment and the efficient algorithms of deploying the wireless sensor networks instead of using the built-in wired networks or the setup of the new wired networks is more desirable than the deployment of the wired networks in a ship after its final production since it can reduce the cost and the time of the brand new wired networks by reshaping some of the internal structure of the ship. In this paper, the shipboard signal propagation measurement system based on the signature sequence-three way slave mode are designed and its measureed data are analysed after measuring the signal propagation characteristics. Consequently, it is expected that the reliable and cost-effective signal measurement system with the three way algorithm for the deployment of the shipboard wireless networks can be achieved.

Recently, the demand for the safety and the information delivery system in the ship increases. The deployment of the wireless sensor networks instead of using the built-in wired networks or the setup of the new wired networks is more desirable than the deployment of the wired networks in a ship after its final production since it can reduce the cost and the time of the brand new wired networks by deforming some of the internal structure of the ship. In this paper, the shipboard signal propagation measurement system based on the signature sequence-two way slave mode are designed and its measurement data are analysed after measuring the signal propagation characteristics. Consequently, it is expected that the reliable and cost-effective signal measurement system for the deployment of the shipboard wireless networks can be built.
In this paper, we propose an effective time-of-arrival (TOA)-based localization method with adaptive bias computation in indoor environments. The goal of the localization is to estimate an accurate target's location in wireless localization system. However, in indoor environments, non-line-of-sight (NLOS) errors block the signal propagation between target device and base station. The NLOS errors have significant effects on ranging between two devices for wireless localization. In TOA-based localization, finding the target's location inside the overlapped area in the TOA-circles is difficult. We present an effective localization method using compensated distance with adaptive bias computation. The proposed method is possible for the target's location to estimate an accurate location in the overlapped area using the measured distances with subtracted adaptive bias. Through localization experiments in indoor environments, estimation error is reduced comparing to the conventional localization methods.
