  • In this paper, a wireless multimedia service interacting with key input of a phone number is Presented. In the conventional handset, when the key button is pressed, numbers are displayed or the embedded sound is played. Also, the contents are fixed and cannot be changed. In this paper, we propose a wireless multimedia service playing multimedia contents in accordance with the key input of a phone number. The contents can be downloaded from the wireless internet server. To implement this service, file format, fast codec and download structure are proposed. Using the presented structure, this service is being provided by a telecommunication company in Korea. Various applications based on this service are being expected.

  • Wireless internet service is an important factor to support all industries. In order to connect and use the smart phones or the laptop via a wireless Internet connection, it has been increasing the hacking risks associated with it. As information spills through the DNS address modulation of the Internet router, hacking threats through a wireless router is present. In this paper, we are dealing with the hacking technique utilizing the overall vulnerability of a wireless LAN. We analyzed the need for the wireless LAN security through WEP encryption algorithm and the improved encryption algorithm. In addition, we presented a countermeasure against these hacking technologies which is WEP Crack using wireless vulnerability hacking technology, DDoS attacks, DNS Spoofing.

  • When the Internet phone service, generally PC-to-Phone, first entered into the telecommunications service market, no regulatory issues were arisen to manage the service within the regulatory framework because of it's low quality, no phone number assignment and etc. However, almost the same quality, more applications and cheaper price compared with the fixed telecommunications service, have changed the regulator's policy allowing Internet phone service within market mechanism. While incumbent fixed telecommunications service enterprises had given with tremendous duties to continue the job categorized 'facilities-based telecommunication service provider', and which can be unreasonable and unfair if Internet phone service enterprises are allowed to enter into the fixed telecommunications market without any regulation. Thus, new regulatory framework has worked for the Internet phone service named the VoIP service generally in the fixed telecommunications market. Recently, VoIP is provided not only in the fixed telecommunications market but also in the mobile market as Wi-Fi phone is feasible in the wireless LAN environment. Furthermore, bundled service of Wi-Fi and cellular phone service will be launched soon, and the next version will be the mobile VoIP service operating like a cellular phone service. Hence, we will meet similar situation when the VoIP sewice enters into the fixed telecommunications service market. And, in this paper, we prospect the regulatory issues arising when the wireless or mobile VoIP service enterprises enter the mobile market, by analyzing possible scenarios.

  • In this paper, an efficient Adaptive quality-of-service (QoS) traffic control scheme with priority scheduling is proposed for the multimedia traffic transmission over wireless access networks. The objective of the proposed adaptive QoS control (AQC) scheme is to realize end-to-end QoS, to be scalable without the excess signaling process, and to adapt dynamically to the network traffic state according to traffic flow characteristics. Here, the reservation scheme can be used over the wireless access network in order to get the per-flow guarantees necessary for implementation of some kinds of multimedia applications. The AQC model is based on both differentiated service model with different lier hop behaviors and priority scheduling one. It consists of several various routers, access points, and bandwidth broker and adopts the IEEE 802.1 le wireless radio technique for wireless access interface. The AQC scheme includes queue management and packet scheduler to transmit class-based packets with different per hop behaviors (PHBs). Simulation results demonstrate effectiveness of the proposed AQC scheme.

  • In wireless networking environments, supporting guaranteed quality of service to mobile hosts is difficult due to the facts that wireless networks have limited bandwidth and mobile hosts frequently move in and out of cells. In spite of the characteristics of wireless communications, the quality of some types of services, i.e., real-time services, must be guaranteed at a certain level. When a mobile host moves into another cell, service rates for mobile hosts in wireless networks may be adjusted since wireless networks have limited bandwidths. In this paper, we propose two resource allocation algorithms in wireless mobile networks, using quality of service (QoS) specifications. For efficient use of resources of wireless networks, the proposed algorithms dynamically allocate rates of flows in proportion to QoS with limited resources.

  • As broadband wireless access systems are widely accepted, VoIP service over the wireless network is being requested. Because previous VoIP implementations are designed to provide service over wired network, they does not consider security problem sufficiently that is one of the most vulnerable aspects of wireless communication. Therefore, this paper describes how to implement secure VoIP service over wireless network with minimum overhead.

  • Request about fast diffusion of internet and high-capacity multimedia service is increasing day after day. Because existent wireless LAN is short range, if subscriber is far away in base station transceiver system(Base Station), subscriber's quality of service becomes low, and wileless internet is expensive. Lately, WiBro(Wireless Broadband Internet) system that is developed in domestic by world first, is high-speed portable internet service that is situated in middle area of mobile phone and wireless LAN. In this paper, service traffic model and characteristics are analyzed to provide multimedia service based on IEEE 802.16 BWA accomplishes base of WiBro and simulation is conducted according to various traffic mixing ratio. Finally, on the basis of these simulation results, maximum allowable number of subscriber per cell is calculated.

  • Recently, due to the prevalence of various mobile devices and wireless broadband networks, there has been a significant increase in interest and demand for multimedia streaming services such as the mobile IPTV. In such a wireless broadband network, transmitting a continuous stream of multimedia data is difficult to achieve due to mobile stations (MSs) movement. Providing Quality of Service (QoS) for multimedia video streaming applications requires the server and/or client to be network-aware and adaptive. Therefore, in order to deploy a mobile IPTV service in wireless broadband networks, offering users efficient wireless resource utilization and seamlessly offering user perceived QoS are important issues. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive streaming scheme, called MARC (Mobile-aware Adaptive Rate Control), which adjusts the quality of bit-stream and transmission rate of video streaming based on the wireless channel status and network status. The proposed scheme can control the rate of multimedia streaming to be suitable for the wireless channel status by using awareness information of the wireless channel quality and the mobile station location. The proposed scheme can provide a seamless multimedia playback service in wireless broadband networks in addition to improving the QoS of multimedia streaming services. The proposed MARC scheme alleviates the discontinuity of multimedia playback and allocates a suitable client buffer to the wireless broadband network. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.

  • This paper covers the service quality of packet-based voice service that is provided over wireless broadband (WiBro) and high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) systems. Using a measurement software that has been developed in the course of preparing a advanced service quality management scheme for the packet-based voice service over wireless networks, a huge scale of experiment is conducted to measure the real quality of the voice service. Based on our analysis of the measurement results, the service quality of the voice service is supposed to be quite good over both wireless systems. In addition, another experiment to investigate the effect of degradation of wireless transmission conditions on the service quality of the voice service shows the values of wireless service metrics in which mean opinion score (MOS) starts to decrease.
