This paper presents a wireless power charging system for rechargeable batteries. Recently, misalignment between transmitting coil and receiving coils has been a significant factor to wireless power charging systems, which are prone to lateral and angular misalignment. Unfortunately, the batteries can be easily rolled because of the shape, and coils are often misaligned while charging devices, in practical situations. This paper presents the wireless power battery charging system. In order to solve the angular misalignment, two perpendicular coil having structure of 'plus (+)' shape was proposed. To validate the results, the proposed wireless power charging system was implemented at 6.78 MHz using loosely coupled resonant coils, and the system was verified as being robust to misalignment.
Wireless power transmission introduced by Tesla has instrumented by many scientists of the world. This technique first was utilized as wireless communications such as radio in long range transmission. And contactless transmission using inductive property was used on white goods. In 2007, MIT' lab introduced that new wireless power transmission by magnetic resonance which has about 50% efficiency and 2M transmission distances, it was a chance to refocus a new possibility of wireless power transmission. In this paper, using LC coupling compensate the short distances of contactless transmission, this simple method could transmit about 30cm distances. Using this approach, it can be solved the short transmission distances, a drawback of Electromagnetic inductive coupling method.
The distance vector-hop wireless sensor node location method is one of typical range-free location methods. In distance vector-hop location method, if a wireless node A can directly communicate with wireless sensor network nodes B and C at its communication range, the hop count from wireless sensor nodes A to B is considered to be the same as that form wireless sensor nodes A to C. However, the real distance between wireless sensor nodes A and B may be dissimilar to that between wireless sensor nodes A and C. Therefore, there may be a discrepancy between the real distance and the estimated hop count distance, and this will affect wireless sensor node location error of distance vector-hop method. To overcome this problem, it proposes a wireless sensor network node location method by modifying the method of distance estimation in the distance vector-hop method. Firstly, we set three different communication powers for each node. Different hop counts correspond to different communication powers; and so this makes the corresponding relationship between the real distance and hop count more accurate, and also reduces the distance error between the real and estimated distance in wireless sensor network. Secondly, distance difference between the estimated distance between wireless sensor network anchor nodes and their corresponding real distance is computed. The average value of distance errors that is computed in the second step is used to modify the estimated distance from the wireless sensor network anchor node to the unknown sensor node. The improved node location method has smaller node location error than the distance vector-hop algorithm and other improved location methods, which is proved by simulations.
In this paper, we studied smart phone RF wireless charging with 5.8-GHz microwave wireless power receiver. The dc output of the receiver connected to super capacitor and DC-DC converter for charging a smart phone. This configuration stably supplies 5V and current for charging it. Studies show that the more receivers are used at close range, the higher the received voltage values and the larger the capacity of the super capacitor, the longer the charging time. The present 5.8-GHz 1W wireless power transmission system is not enough for charging a smartphone mainly due to the lack of current of the receiver.
As IoT(Internet Of Things) devices like a smart sensor have constrained power sources, a power strategy is critical in WSN(Wireless Sensor Networks). Therefore, it is necessary to figure out the residual power of each sensor node for managing power strategies in WSN, which, however, requires additional data transmission, leading to more power consumption. In this paper, a residual power estimation method was proposed, which uses ignorantly small amount of power consumption in the resource-constrained wireless networks including WSN. A residual power prediction is possible with the least data transmission by using Machine Learning method with some training data in this proposal. The performance of the proposed scheme was evaluated by machine learning method, simulation, and analysis.
Previous studies have selected wireless power transmission system using 2.45 GHz of ISM band, but the researches for 5.8 GHz microwave wireless power transmission have been relatively rare. The 5.8 GHz has some advantages compared with 2.45 GHz. Those are smaller antenna and smaller integrated system for RFIC. In this paper, the 5.8 GHz wireless power transmission system was developed and transmission efficiency was measured according to the distance. A transmitter sent the amplified microwaves through an antenna amplified by a power amplifier of 1W for 5.8 GHz, and a receiver was converted to DC from RF through a RF-DC Converter. In the 1W 5.8GHz wireless power transmission system, the converted currents and voltages were measured to evaluate transmission efficiency at each distance where LED lights up to 1m. The RF-DC Converter is designed and fabricated by impedance matching using full-wave rectifier circuit. The transmission-efficiency of the system shows from 1.05% at 0cm to 0.095% at 100cm by distance.

This paper describes a theoretical framework for rate allocation to maximize the power efficiency of overall heterogeneous wireless networks whose users are assumed to have multihoming capabilities. Therefore, the paper first presents a power consumption model considering the circuit power and radio transmission power of each wireless network. Using this model, two novel power efficient rate allocation schemes (PERAS) for multihoming services are proposed. In this paper, the convex optimization problem for maximizing the power efficiency over wireless networks is formulated and solved while guaranteeing the required quality of service (QoS). Here, both constant bit rate and variable bit rate services are considered. Furthermore, we extend our theoretical framework by considering the sleep-operation management of wireless networks. The performance results obtained from numerical analysis reveal that the two proposed schemes offer superior performance over the existing rate allocation schemes for multihoming services and guarantee the required QoS.

Wireless power transfer via coupled magnetic resonances has been a hot research topic in recent years. In addition, the number of related devices has also been increasing. However, reverse signals transfer is often required in addition to wireless power transfer. The structure of the circuit for a wireless power transfer system via coupled magnetic resonances is analyzed. The advantages and disadvantages of both parallel compensation and series compensation are listed. Then the compensation characteristics of the inductor, capacitor and resistor were studied and an appropriate compensation method was selected. The reverse signals can be transferred by controlling the compensation of the resistor. In addition, it can be demodulated by extracting the change of the primary current. A 3.3 MHz resonant frequency with a 100 kHz reverse signals transfer system platform was established in the laboratory. Experimental results demonstrate that wireless power and reverse signals can be transferred synchronously.
Many studies are being conducted to implement wireless charging, for example, for cellular phones or electronic tooth brushes, via wireless power transmission technique. However, the magnetic induction method had a very short transmission distance. To solve this problem, the team of Professor Marin Soljacic proposed a magnetic resonance system that used two resonance coils with the same resonance frequency. It had an approximately 40% efficiency at a 2m distance. The system improved the low efficiency and short distance problems of the existing systems. So it could also widen the application range of wireless power transmission. Many studies on the subject are underway. In this paper, the superconductor coil was used to improve the efficiency of magnetic resonance wireless power transmission. The resonance wireless power transmission system had a source coil, a load coil, and resonance coils (a transmitter and a receiver). The efficiency and distance depended on the characteristics of the transmitter and receiver coils that had the same resonance frequency. Therefore, two resonance coils were fabricated by superconductors. The current density of the superconductor was higher than that of the normal conductor coil. Accordingly, it had a high quality-factor and improved efficiency.
Power plants maintenance data is to be sent to management server system via a communication network. In this case, reliable communication network is required. Transmission of the power plants maintenance data is used in the wired communication network or wireless communication network. PLC communication network is a kind of wired communication network. However PLC communication network is easily affected by noise. On the vulnerable areas in power line system, such as a mountain or rural areas, it is difficult to form a power line communication network. For a wireless communication, environment are also influenced factors in wireless communication. Harsh environmental factors are bring the communication characteristic degradation. In such areas it can be used a combination of two networks and in this way the complementary function can be achieved. Power plants are distributed in various regions across the country. The appropriate communication network is needed to maintain the power plant. This study investigated the effect of environment on the wired communication and wireless communication. It would examine a variable factor which is affect to the communication characteristic. We used PLC communication for wired communication network and ZigBee communication for wireless communication network. We investigated the characteristics of a single communication network and it raised the need for a complex communication technology to complement a single communication network.
