Recently, a variety of methods for the performance improvement of ultra-high speed wideband wireless transmission systems have been suggested. This paper proposes a space-frequency (SF) block coded single side band (SSB) single carrier (SC)-frequency division multiple access (FDMA) transmission system. In the proposed SSB SC-FDMA system, SF block code is implemented with the complex conjugates, which are formed from discrete Fourier transform (DFT) spreading of pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) signals. As a result, transmit diversity gain can be obtained in the proposed SF block coded SSB SC-FDMA system without any significant increase of the system computational complexity. The simulation result shows that the signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) performance of the proposed SF block coded SSB SC-FDMA system is approximately 4 dB better than the SNR performance of the conventional SSB SC-FDMA system with single transmit antenna at a symbol error rate (SER) of $10^{-2}$.

Due to the fourth industrial revolution called 'fusion and connection', interest in 'high connectivity society' and 'highland society' is increasing, and related objects are not limited to automation and connected cars. The Internet of Things is the main concern of the 4th Industrial Revolution and it is expected to play an important role in establishing the basis of the next generation mobile communication service. Several domestic and foreign companies have been studying various types of LPWANs for the construction of the Internet based on things, and there is Semtech's LoRaWAN technology as representative. LoRaWAN is a long-distance, low-power network designed to manage a large number of devices and sensors, with communications from hundreds to thousands to thousands of devices and sensors. In this paper, we analyze the optimum node capacity of gateway for maximum performance while reducing resource waste in using LoRaWAN.

WSN is a wirelessly configured network of sensor nodes with limited power such as batteries. If the sensor node's battery is exhausted, the node is no longer available. Therefore, if the network is to be used for a long time, energy consumption should be minimized. There are many Wireless Sensor Network Protocols to improve energy efficiency, including Cluster-based and chain-based Protocols. Cluster-based Protocols elect Cluster Heads and divide sensor field into Clusters. The Cluster Head collects the data in the Cluster and transmits it to the Base Station. In the case of nodes elected as Cluster Heads, there is a problem of energy consumption. The chain-based Protocol links sensor nodes in a chain and finally transmits all data to the Base Station. In this paper, we intend to increase the network lifetime by using a chain to reduce the energy consumption of the Cluster Head in the Cluster-based Protocol, LEACH Protocol.

Currently, LPWA(Low Power Wide Area) communication technology is widely used due to the development of IoT(Internet of Things) technology. Among the LPWA technologies, LoRaWAN(Long Range Wide Area Network) is widely used in many fields due to its wide coverage, stable communication speed, and low-cost modem module prices. In particular, LoRa(Long Range) can easily construct LoRaWAN with a dedicated gateway. So many organizations are building their own LoRaWAN-based networks. The LoRaWAN Gateway receives the LoRa packet transmitted from an End-device installed in the adjacent location, converts it into the Internet protocol, and sends the packet to the final destination server. Current LoRa Gateway uses a single-hop method, and each gateway must include a communication network capable of the Internet. If it is the mobile communication(i.e., WCDMA, LTE, etc.) network, it is required to pay the internet usage fee which is installed in each gateway. If the LoRa communication is frequent, the user has to spend a lot of money. We propose an idea on how to design a multi-hop protocol which enables packet routing between gateways by analyzing the LoRaWAN communication method implemented in its existing single-hop way in this paper. For this purpose, this paper provides an analysis of the standard specification of LoRaWAN and explains what was considered when such protocol was designed. In this paper, two gateways have been placed based on the functional role so as to make the multi-hop protocol realized: (i) hopping gateway which receives packets from the end-device and forwards them to another gateway; and (ii) main gateway which finally transmits packets forwarded from the hopping gateway to the server via internet. Moreover, taking into account that LoRaWAN is wireless mobile communication, a level-based routing method is also included. If the protocol proposed by this paper is applied to the LoRaWAN network, the monthly internet fee incurred for the gateway will be reduced and the reliability of data transmission will be increased.

In recent years, many home machines have been developed in order to design and control comfortable interior inside houses. For such task, important factors are temperature, natural and interior lights, and space and control of relative factors each other. This paper presents novel sensor module inside houses, which is designed based on these factors through the PMV (Predicted Mean Vote) standard using information about home state. Moreover, LonWorks based power line communication technique is utilized for control interior lights and air-conditioners by means of wireless remote controllers. This mechanism is systemically operated via intelligent control framework.

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack on a nuclear weapon or the airlift of an electronic bomb affects weapons systems, information devices, wired and wireless communication equipment, and power supply equipment. It can lead to confusion on the battlefield. The current standards for EMP protection when applied to the military are centered on fixed and mobile facilities and equipment. It is, however, important to study EMP protection for a single tactical unit centered on the weapon system. In this study, EMP protection standards were established for command and control, maneuvering and firepower systems vulnerable to EMPs, focusing on battle tanks with mobility, firepower, and shock force. Also, specific development plans for EMP protection capabilities are proposed, including the shielding and blocking of EMPs. Through the study, the Korean government intends to ensure a unit's command and control under an EMP attack as well as preserve the viability of a unit's personnel and guarantee the conditions for the execution of a mission.

In this paper, We propose a portable electrostatic meter which can measure high voltage static electricity caused by friction to prevent fire or explosion accidents in grinding, crushing, power injection, transport, filling, dust removal, painting, and foreign matter removal processes. The proposed device not only shows static electricity strength in 4 steps with respect to distance and voltage but also gives warning with a buzzer, on process facilities that are likely to generate high voltage static electricity due to friction. The device is implemented by filtering the signal detected by the wireless antenna, amplifying the signal by 6 times, and passing the signal through the integrator circuit. Tests are carried out with an electrostatic discharge simulator. And the results show that 4 LEDs are turned on at the distance of 10cm, 3 LEDs at 12cm, 2 LEDs at 13cm, and 1 LED at 15cm, when a fixed voltage of 500V is given. And also, the tests show that the static electricity can be detected at 5cm on 100V, 10cm on 200V, 15cm on 500V, 20cm on 1000V, and 25cm on 1500V. We expect to reduce accidents caused by static electricity by allowing safety managers on fields where fire or explosion accidents can happen to monitor static electricity.

Ubiquitous Sensor Network consists of a number of sensor nodes with a limited computation power and limited communication capabilities, and a sensor node is able to communicate with each other at anytime and in any place. Due to the rapid research and development in sensor networks, it will rapidly grow into environments where hmm beings can interact in an intuitive way with sensing objects which can be PDAs, sensors, or even clothes in the future. We are aiming at realizing an Unattended Secure Security System to apply it to Ubiquitous Sensor Network. In this paper, the vulnerabilities in the Unattended security system are identified, and a new protocol called OMAC-SNEP is proposed for the Unattended Secure Security System. Because the CBC-MAC in SNEP is not secure unless the message length is fixed, the CBC-MAC in SNEP was replaced with OMAC in SNEP. We have shown that the proposed protocol is secure for my bit length of messages and is almost as efficient as the CBC-MAC with only one key. OMAC-SNEP can be used not only in Unattended Security System, but also any other Sensor Networks.

The situation of high-altitude electromagnetic pulses (HEMP) arises from high-altitude nuclear explosions. The HEMP situation can be simulated through the threat level investigation (TLI). In this paper, the induced voltage according to the antenna type of the tactical mobile radio communication system was measured and analyzed by TLI. Under the influence of HEMP, electronic equipment can be paralyzed or damaged. HEMP protection filters are commercially available for power lines and signal lines. However, commercialization of HEMP filters for antennas is insufficient, and even some of them exist for lightning protection. In order to make an appropriate HEMP protection filter according to the frequency and type of the antenna, the induced voltage was measured and the maximum induced voltage was analyzed through extrapolation. It was found that the measured induced voltage decreased as the frequency increased, such as in the HF, VHF and UHF bands of the measurement results.

Recently, studies on underwater communication, related to the development of underwater resources, disaster monitoring and defense, have been actively carried out. In the design of wireless communication systems, path loss is the most important information to derive a link budget that is required to guarantee communication reliability by calculating received power level for the given communication link. The underwater acoustic channel have different characteristics according to geographical location and relevant environmental factors such as water temperature, depth, wave height, algae, and turbidity. Subsequently, many research institutes aiming to develop underwater acoustic communication systems are researching actively on the underwater acoustic channels in various sea areas. In Korea, however, studies on the path loss of the acoustic channel are still insufficient. Therefore, in this study, the path loss of the acoustic channel are studied based on measurement data of the at-sea experiment conducted at Geohae-do, southern sea of Korea.
