  • This study proposes a new diversity algorithm to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. In the wireless channel, if fading occurs due to the multipaths, the performance of the system is apparently reduced. One of the methods to reduce fadings like this is the diversity method, and this study aims to improve the performance of the system by proposing a new diversity algorithm. This study applied rake receiver, and normalized the wireless channel from the Nakagami fading channel to the Rayleigh fading channel, which set the fading index as 1, because of the multipaths. It applied QPSK and OQPSK modulation methods and applied the convolutional codes, where the code rate is 1/2 and 1/3 and the constraint length is 9, and the turbo code where the constraint length is 4. Under these conditions, this study compared and analyzed the average error probability of direct spread multiple access system. The diversity algorithm proposed in this paper could be applied to the mobile communication and other wireless multimedia communications that require high quality and high reliability.

  • In this paper, we have analyzed TCP performance over wireless correlated fading links with and without Snoop protocol. For a given value of the packet error rate, TCP performance without Snoop protocol is degraded as the fading is getting fast (i.e. the user moves fast). When Snoop protocol is introduced in the base station, TCP performance is enhanced in most wireless environments. Especially the performance enhancement derived from using Snoop protocol is large in fast fading channel. This is because packet errors become random and sporadic in fast fading channel and these random packet errors (mostly single packet errors) can be compensated efficiently by Snoop protocol's local packet retransmissions. But Snoop protocol can't give a large performance improvement in slow fading environments where long bursts of packet errors occur. Concerning to packet error rate, Snoop protocol results in the highest performance enhancement in the channel with mid-high values of packet error rate. This means Snoop protocol cannot fully fulfill its ability under too low or too high packet error rate environments.

  • Achievable sum rate and energy efficiency (EE) are investigated for the massive multiple-input multiple-output (Massive MIMO) downlink with channel aging in the time varying Ricean fading channel. Specifically, the expression of the achievable sum rate of the system for the maximum ratio transmission (MRT) precoder with aged channel state information (CSI) in the time varying Ricean fading channel is first presented. Based on the expression, the effect of both channel aging and the Ricean factor on the power scaling law are studied. It is found that the transmit power of base station (BS) is scaled down by $1/{\sqrt{M}}$(where M is the number of the BS antennas) when the Ricean factor K is equal to zero (i.e., time varying Rayleigh fading channel), indicating that aged CSI does not affect the power scaling law. However, the transmit power of the BS is scaled down by 1/M for the time varying Ricean fading channel (where $K{\neq}0$) indicating that the Ricean factor affects the power scaling law and sum rate, and channel aging only leads to a reduction of the sum rate. Second, the EE of the system is analyzed based on the general power consumption model. Both the theoretical analysis and the simulations show that the channel aging could degrade the sum rate and the EE of the system, and it does not affect the power scaling law.

  • In this paper, we present an optical encryption and information authentication of 3D objects considering wireless channel characteristics. Using the optical encryption such as double random phase encryption (DRPE) and 3D integral imaging, a 3D scene with encryption can be transmitted. However, the wireless channel causes the noise and fading effects of the 3D transmitted encryption data. When the 3D encrypted data is transmitted via wireless channel, the information may be lost or distorted because there are a lot of factors such as channel noise, propagation fading, and so on. Thus, using digital modulation and maximum likelihood (ML) detection, the noise and fading effects are mitigated, and the encrypted data is estimated well at the receiver. In addition, using computational volumetric reconstruction of integral imaging and advanced correlation filters, the noise effects may be remedied and 3D information may be authenticated. To prove our method, we carry out an optical experiment for sensing 3D information and simulation for optical encryption with DRPE and authentication with a nonlinear correlation filter. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on optical encryption and information authentication of 3D objects considering the wireless channel characteristics.

  • We consider the design of quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) transceivers f3r fixed wireless communications. The use of adaptive power control in the transmitter (Tx) can provide BER performance robust to fading and improved BER performance. The BER performance is evaluated by analytical and simulation results when multi-level QAM transceiver employing power control in the Tx is applied to fixed wireless channel with flat fading and frequency selective fading. The effect of power control parameters such as power control range and power control step size is investigated

  • In this paper, we discuss optical encryption and decryption considering wireless communication channels. In wireless communication systems, the wireless channel causes noise and fading effects of the transmitted information. Optical encryption technique such as double-random-phase encryption (DRPE) is used for encrypting transmitted data. When the encrypted data is transmitted, the information may be lost or distorted because there are a lot of factors such as channel noise, propagation fading, etc. Thus, using digital modulation and maximum likelihood (ML) detection, the noise and fading effects are mitigated, and the encrypted data is estimated well at the receiver. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report that considers the wireless channel characteristics of the optical encryption technique.

  • In this paper, we investigate the performance of the diffusion adaptation strategies for parameter estimation in wireless adaptive networks, where the nodes exchange information over noisy and fading wireless channels. This paper shows the differences between the effect of Rayleigh and Rician fading over wireless adaptive networks and proves that the Rician fading is a more practical model in such kinds of networks. Simulation results imply that the effect of Rayleigh fading is more degrading for the estimation process than Rician fading. Also, the simulation results show the performance of adapt then combine (ATC) diffusion algorithm is better than the combine then adapt (CTA) algorithm by merely considering noise in wireless channels. While the performance of CTA prevails ATC over the wireless adaptive network in the presence of noise plus channel fading.

  • In this paper, diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) of three-user wireless multiple-antenna cooperative systems is investigated in general fading channels when half-duplex and decode-and-forward relay is employed. Three protocols, i.e., adaptive protocol, receive diversity protocol, and dual-hop relaying protocol, are considered. The general fading channels may include transmit and/or receive correlation and nonzero channel means, and are extensions of independent and identically distributed Rayleigh or Rician fading channels. Firstly, simple DMT expressions are derived for general fading channels with zero channel means and no correlation when users employ arbitrary number of antennas. Explicit DMT expressions are also obtained when all users employ the same number of antennas and the channels between any two users are of the same fading statistics. Finally, the impact of nonzero channel means and/or correlation on DMT is evaluated. It is revealed theoretically that the DMTs depend on the number of antennas at each user, channel means (except for Rayleigh and Rician fading statistics), transmit and/or receive correlation, and the polynomial behavior near zero of the channel gain probability density function. Examples are also provided to illustrate the analysis and results.

  • Security is an important issue for wireless communications and poses many challenges. Most security schemes have been applied to the upper layers of communications networks. Since in a typical wireless communication, transmission of data is over the air, third party receiver(s) may have easy access to the transmitted data. This work examines a new security technique at the physical layer for the sake of enhancing the protection of wireless communications against eavesdroppers. We examine the issue of secret communication through Rayleigh fading channel in the presence of an eavesdropper in which the transmitter knows the channel state information of both the main and eavesdropper channel. Then, we analyze the capacity of the main channel and eavesdropper channel we also analyze for the symbol error rate of the main channel, and the outage probability is obtained for the main transmission. This work elucidate that the proposed security technique can safely complement other Security approaches implemented in the upper layers of the communication network. Lastly, we implement the results in Mat lab

  • This paper introduces our development of a MIMO-OTA system with simplified configuration. The key element of our proposal is the adoption of an antenna branch-controlled configuration for generating multipath delayed waves. The signal processing is carried out on IF band signal with an FPGA in a fading-emulator-type MIMO-OTA measurement system. The proposed scheme is largely different from available system configurations for the fading simulator method of constructing the OTA test environment. We describe the principle of the proposed scheme, channel model incorporated in the system, basic configuration of the developed system, and its performance.
