Real-time Multimedia data service scheduling in Wireless ATM Netsworks (무선 ATM망에서 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스를 위한 스케줄링 정책)

  • 최근 정보 통신 기술의 발전에 따라 음성 서비스 등과 같은 단일 서비스를 제공하던 무선 통신망이 음성, 데이터, 고화질 정지화면, 동영상 및 다양한 정보형태의 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스를 추구하고 있다. 효율적인 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 전송을 위해서는 실시간 데이터의 지연한계를 보장하고 비 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터들의 데이터 손실을 최소화해야 한다. 무선 ATM망은 기본적으로 ATM 전송방식을 사용하고 있지만 유선 ATM망에 비해 제한된 대역폭파 높은 전송지연, 비트 에러율과 이동성이라는 특수성을 고려하여 유선 ATM망과 많은 차이가 있다. 무선 ATM망에서 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스 전송을 위한 스케줄링 방법으로 유선 ATM망에서 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스를 위해 적용되는 TCRM(Traffic-Controlled Rate Monotonic Priority scheduing)정책을 Uplink 와 Downlink 시 각각 다른 방법으로 적용하여 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 전송 스케줄링 정clr을 제안하고, 예약버퍼(reservation buffer) 와 임의의 전송 속도 P$_{k}$ 를 사용하여 TCRM의 단점인 비 실시간 데이터에 대한 비효율성 문제 해결안을 제시한다.

  • The conventional fluorescent lamp dimming system using an another control line is complex and will increased the cost. Therefore, many studies have focused on the wireless communication, but it is not fit for dimming system because of the interference generated by the infra-red light of lamp or switching noises in ballast. So, we applied the power line communication on the dimming system and we proposed a new coupling circuit using the voltage controlled impedance convertor for improving the performance of the FH/SS PLC modem. The performance for the proposed modem is evaluted by the BER.

Development of a Biped Walking Robot

  • In this paper, we introduce biped walking robot which can static walking with 22 degree-of-freedoms. The developed biped walking robot is 480mm tall and 2500g, and 22 RC servo motors are used to actuate. Before made an active algorithm, we generated the motions of robot with the motion simulator which developed using by C language. The two dimension simulator is Based on the inverse kinematics and D-H transform. The simulator implements various motions as inputted the ankle's trajectory. Also we developed a simulator which is applied the principle of inverted pendulum to acquires the center of gravity. As we use this simulator, we can get the best appropriate angle of ankle and pelvis when the robot lifts up its one side leg during the working. We implement the walking motions which is based on the data(angle) getting from both of simulators. The robot can be controlled by text shaped command through RF signal of wireless modem which connected with laptop computer by serial cable.

  • The Multi-code (Mc) modulation has been developed for high-speed data transmission over the wireless environments, but it suffers two critical problems due to the limited resource of Orthogonal Codes (OC) and high Peak-Average Power Ratio (PAPR). In this paper, we propose a novel modulation technique called AOCG [1] (Advanced Orthogonal Code Group)-OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) to solve the above problems and obtain the variable high bit rates which can be controlled by the four parameters depending on the quality of services (QoS) required by users.

  • The present paper designed a weight measuring instrumentation system in which data conversion and a series of signal processing were totally equipped. 16 loadcell are incoming sensors and each output of the loadcell was amplified and filtered for proper analog signal processing. Several measuring instrumentation OP amps and general purposed OP amps were used. 12 bits AID converters converted analog signals to digital bits and a PIC microprocessor controlled the 16 channels of loadcell. RF RS232 modules were used for wireless communication between the PIC microprocessor and an ethernet host for a remote sensor monitoring system development.

  • We have been developed an intelligent mobile robot with an artificial olfactory function to recognize odours and to track odour source location. This mobile robot also has been installed an engine for speech recognition and synthesis, and is controlled by wireless communication. An artificial olfactory system based on array of 7 gas sensors has been installed in the mobile robot for odour recognition, and 11 gas sensors also are located in the bottom of robot to track odour sources. 3 optical sensors are also included in the intelligent mobile robot, which is driven by 2 D.C. motors, for clash avoidance in a way of direction toward an odour source.   • The design, fabrication, and measured result of a 4.7 GHz differential VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) for a 5.2 GHz WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) applications is presented. The circuit is designed in a 0.35 mm technology employing three metal layers. The design is based on a fully integrated LC tank using spiral inductors. Measured tuning range is 10% of oscillation frequency with a control voltage from 0 to 3.0 V. Oscillation power of $\square$ 2.3 dBm at 4.63 GHz is measured with 21 mA DC current at 3V supply. The phase noise is $\square$ 104.17 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset.

  • The ubiquitous sensor network technique is widely applied to variety of information fields such as home automations, logistics, traffic controls, public administrations, health and environment monitoring and etc. It is particularly useful in the areas where energy consumption is minimal and where continuous monitoring of the surrounding environments, which generates streams of data, are required. In this study, we have designed and implemented a living environment automatic control system which collects the streams of temperature, humidity, light and noise data of a simulated house setting in real-time fashion, then controls the home environment based on the collected data according to the users favorites. In order to differentiate the proposed system from the currently existing similar system, we have demonstrated not only the feasibility of collecting data using sensor network in the controlled environment but also the ability to control the various household equipments through wireless communications.

  • Sensor network consists of a large number of sensor node distributed in the environment being sensed and controlled. The resource-constrained sensor nodes tend to have various and heterogeneous architecture. Thus, it is important to make its software environment platform-independent and reprogrammable. In this paper, we present BeeVM, a Java operating system designed for sensor networks. BeeVM offers a platform-independent Java programming environment with its efficiently executable file format and a set of class APIs for basic operating functions, sensing and wireless networking. BeeVM's high-level native interface and layered network subsystem allow complex program for sensor network to be short and readable. Our platform has been ported on two currently popular hardware platforms and we show its effectiveness through the evaluation of a simple application.

Studies on the 2.17 GHz Voltage Controlled Oscillator (2.17 GHz 전압제어 발진기 제작연구)

  • In this paper, We have designed and fabricated VCO in two way, the common source and common gate circuit for I local oscillator of 60 GHz wireless LAN system. The VCO employed a GaAs MESFET for negative resistance and a varactor diode for frequency tuning. The common gate VCO was measured the phase noise -112 dBc/Hz at the 1 MHz frequency offset. The output power and the second harmonic frequency suppression were 7.81 dBm and -29.3 dBc when tuning voltage was 3V, respectively. The total size of VCO was 28.6$\times$12.14 $\textrm{mm}^2$.
