  • Most civil engineering structures, such as highway bridges, towers, power plants and offshore structures suffer structural damages over their service lives caused by adverse loading such as heavy transportation loads, machine vibrations, earthquakes, wind and wave forces. Especially, if excessive load would be acted on the structure, general or partial stiffness should be degraded suddenly and service lives should be shortened eventually For realistic damage assessment of these civil structures, System Identification method using only structure dynamic response data with unknown input excitation is required and thus becoming more challenging problem. In this paper, an improved Iterative Least Squares method is proposed, which seems to be very efficient and robust method, because only the dynamic response data such as acceleration, velocity and displacement is used without input data, and no information on the modal properties is required. The efficiency and robustness of the proposed method is proved by numerical problems and real single span beam model test.

  • This study is aiming to find one of working conditions for loading and unloading a large ship at game port. Firstly, for dynamic analysis of the moored ships, the motion characteristics of ship according to loading condition are figured out. The motion characteristics of ship is related to environmental factors such as current, wind, mooring line, fender and etc. As a result, it is ascertained through numerical simulation using the AQUA MARINE developed by ANSYS INC. This study might contribute to make a new method of mooring stability of target ship.

  • Experimental equipments for long-term outdoor tests of EHV insulators in outdoor were constructed. The testing insulators have been energized with 89 [kV] phase-to-ground AC voltage under identical condition at station, and the investigation was carried out for leakage current and various environments such as temperature, relative humidity and wind velocity. The test results of leakage current wave trends have forms on distorted waves including harmonics. The porcelain and glass insulators have low leakage current in case of daytime because moisture and humidity have relative low values. In comparison with these conditions, high leakage current was shown at dawn and rainy day due to high humidity. However, leakage current of polymer insulators was shown approximately $129[{\mu}m]$ without relation to the weather due to hydrophobicity on their surface.

  • In order to take TC forecasts from different observatories into consideration, and make quantitative assessment and analysis for avoiding TC routes from the view of safety and cost, a new safe-economic decision making method of TC avoidance routing on ocean was put forward. This model is based on combining forecast of TC trace based on neural networks, technical method to determine the future TC wind and wave fields, technical method of fuzzy information optimization, risk analysis theory, and meteorological-economic decision making theory. It has applied to the simulation of MV Tianlihai's shipping on ocean. The result shows that the model can select the optimum plan from 7 plans, the selected plan is in accordance with the one selected by experienced captains.

  • This paper presents an adaptive neural network based controller and its application to Dynamic Positioning (DP) control system of ship. The proposed neural network based controller is developed for station-keeping and low-speed maneuvering control of ship. At first, the DP system configuration is described. And then, to validate the proposed DP system, computer simulations of station-keeping and low-speed maneuvering performance of a multi-purpose supply ship are presented under the influence of measurement noise, external disturbances such as sea current, wave, and wind. The simulations have shown the feasibility of the DP system in various maneuvering situations.

  • 열대성 저기압에 의해 발생되는 태풍 또는 폭풍은 주변해역에 평균수위상승(setup)을 유발하며 진행하게 된다. 우리나라에는 주로 하절기에 남해평양에서 발생한 해풍의 영향을 받아 해일 등의 피해를 입게 되는데, 이러한 해일은 여러가지 수위상승효과가 복합된 결과이다. 즉, 폭풍 도착전 발생하는 초기수위상승(initial setup), 저기압 중심 주변의 급격한 압력경사에 의한 수위상승(pressure setup), 폭풍의 진행속도가 발생된 파의 속도에 근접할 경우 압력차에 의한 수위상승이 더욱 증폭되는 장파수위상승(long wave setup), 바람과 바닥 마찰에 의한 수위상승(wind and bottom stress setup), Coriolis힘에 의한 수면상승(Coriolis setup) 등 여러 가지 효과에 의해 해일이 발생하게 된다.   • To construct the third generation model, nonlinear interaction was included in source terms. To calculate the nonlinear interaction, discrete interaction approximation to Boltzmann integral was used, as in WAM model. The general behavior and characteristics of nonlinear interaction were analyzed through the experiments for the durational growth and turning winds.

  • 본 논문에서는 PSCAD/EMTDC 소프트웨어를 이용하여 3MVA 용량의 풍력발전기와 2.4MVA 용량의 파력발전기로 구성되어 있는 부유식 파력-해상풍력 연계형 발전시스템 모델을 모의 할 예정이다. 각각의 발전시스템은 발전기, 발전기 컨버터, 전력망 컨버터, 전력망으로 구성되어 있고 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 각각의 풍력 및 파력발전기에서 전력망의 유효전력과 무효전력을 완전히 독립적으로 제어 할 수 있음에 대하여 살펴 볼 것이다.

  • As a kind of application of laser propulsion, air-breathing laser-spike engine can be designed for aircraft in atmospheric flight. Laser-spike engine generates thrust using the blast wave induced by laser energy instead of combustion process. And this engine use air as propellant, therefore, it need no on board propellant. For experimental study, supersonic wind tunnel and spark generator were used. Flow visualization was performed using 2-dimensional laser-spike engine model And numerical simulation of the corresponding case for the experiment was done and compared with experimental case. Detailed results will be discussed at the presentation.

  • The speed trial of a ship is one of the important elements guaranteeing its performance under the contract between the ship owner and shipbuilding company. A speed trial at sea, where the tidal current and waves are suppressed to the maximum, can prevent measurement errors due to external force conditions. On the other hand, it is difficult to maintain a calm sea state in most sea areas determined by the influence of the tidal current, wave, wind, etc. Therefore, this study evaluated a method of simulating a tidal current, which is one of the external force conditions, at the speed test operation of a ship, and applied the simulation result to the plan of a speed trial.
