A Study on the Modeling and Design of Single Phase Induction Generators

  • With increasing emphasis on non-conventional energy systems and autonomous power generation, development of improved and appropriate generating systems has recently taken on greater significance. This paper describes the performance analysis of a single phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG), suitable for autonomous/standby power systems. The system is also appropriate for wind energy systems and small portable systems. Both windings of the induction machine, the main and the auxiliary, are utilized. One winding will be devoted to the supply excitation current only, by being connected to the excitation capacitor, while the load is connected across the other winding. As the design of excitation, the minimum of self-excited capacitor connected auxiliary winding is determined as the suitable value using a circuit equation of auxiliary winding. For the steady state analysis, the equivalent circuit of the single-phase induction generators is used as a basis for modeling using the double-revolving field theory. The validity of the designed generator system is confirmed by experimental and computed results.

  • This paper deals with characteristics analysis of Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) in the supersynchronous speed regions. by control of voltage fed to the rotor using for bidirection control. This rotor voltage is controlled by con troll of inverter switching frequency and fire angle. Characteristics of DFIG is analyzed by steady-state algebraic equations of the equivalent circuit using numerical analysis. And it is compared with results of experiment. Consequently, this paper presented to find the optimal magnitude of voltage fed to the rotor for maximum power and PF, using result of characteristics analysis.

A Study On the Cooling Effect of the Floating Horizontal Solar Cell

  • In this study, we measured the power and temperature of the floating horizontal solar cell in a coastal lagoon and compared with those of ground solar cell and water platform solar cell. Because the bottom surface of the floating horizontal solar cell was contacting the water, cooling effect was expected stronger than other cells. As a result of the measurement, the power of floating horizontal cell was 11.7% higher than that of the ground cell and 15% higher than that of the water platform cell. During the measurement, it was observed that water waves were continuously flowed on the top surface of floating horizontal cell by the wind, and it could be assumed that the cooling effect occurred not only on the bottom surface of the cell but also on the top surface. In order to analyze the cooling effect and power increasing of the horizontal cell in the wave situation, we measured power and temperature of the cell while generating artificial waves in a laboratory equipped with Zenon lamp as a solar simulator. At the height of thewater surface, the power of the cell with waves was 3.7% higherthan without waves and temperature was 4.6℃ lower. At 1 cm and 2 cm below the watersurface, power of the cell with waves was decreased by 14% and 11% than without waves while temperature was same . At 3 cm below the water surface, there was no effect of waves.

도시 여건 분석을 통한 바람길숲 조성방향 제시 - 평택시를 사례로 - (A Proposal of Direction of Wind Ventilation Forest through Urban Condition Analysis - A Case Study of Pyeongtaek-si -)

  • 최근 도시의 미세먼지 및 열환경 개선을 위한 방안으로써 바람길을 고려한 도시숲인 바람길숲 조성사업이 전국적으로 추진되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 바람길숲 조성사업 대상 도시 중 하나인 평택시를 사례로 바람길숲 조성 여건 분석(미세먼지 및 열환경 취약지역, 바람길숲 분포 현황, 바람길 특성)을 수행하고, 분석 결과를 바탕으로 평택시의 바람길숲 조성방향을 제안하였다. 미세먼지 및 열환경에 취약한 지역을 도출한 결과, 평택시의 동부생활권 내 시가지에서 미세먼지 및 열환경에 가장 취약한 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 미세먼지의 경우 평택화력발전소, 항만, 국도 1호선 등 산업단지 및 도로에서 배출량이 높았다. 바람길숲 현황을 파악한 결과, 평택시 내에는 소규모의 생성숲, 디딤·확산숲, 연결숲이 파편화되고 단절되어 분포하고 있었다. 평택시의 전반적인 바람길의 특징은 무봉산 등에서 생성된 찬공기가 평택시 내로 강하게 유입되고 북서방향으로 흘렀다. 따라서 평택시 내 존재하는 생성숲을 보전하고 장기적으로 확대해나가야 하며, 취약지역까지 찬공기가 유입될 수 있도록 디딤·확산숲 및 연결숲 조성이 중요하였다. 또한 미세먼지 발생이 심각한 산업단지 및 도로에는 미세먼지 차단을 고려한 연결숲을 조성하여 주변 지역으로 미세먼지가 확산되지 않도록 식재기법을 적용해야 한다. 본 연구는 평택시의 바람길숲 조성사업을 위한 근거자료로 활용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 기타 도시숲 조성 관리에 있어 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Study on Flow Characteristics in an Augmentation Channel of a Direct Drive Turbine for Wave Power Generation Using CFD

  • Recent developments such as concern over global warming, depletion of fossil fuels and increase in energy demands by the increasing world population has eventually lead to mass production of electricity using renewable sources. Apart from wind and solar, ocean holds tremendous amount of untapped energy in forms such as geothermal vents, tides and waves. The current study looks at generating power using waves and the focus is on the primary energy conversion (first stage conversion) of incoming waves for two different models. Observation of flow characteristics, pressure and the velocity in the augmentation channel as well as the front guide nozzle are presented in the paper. A numerical wave tank was utilized to generate waves of desired properties and later the turbine section was integrated. The augmentation channel consisted of a front nozzle, rear nozzle and an internal fluid region representing the turbine housing. The analysis was performed using the commercial CFD code.

압전소자를 이용한 에너지 수확에 관한 연구 (A Study on Energy Harvesting Technique using Piezoelectric Element)

  • This paper presents the energy harvesting technique which is carried out by vibration system with a piezoelectric element. In this study, low frequency characteristics of the piezoelectric element bonded to the aluminum cantilever were experimentally investigated. The piezoelectric element of size of $45L{\times}11W{\times}0.6H$ and piezoelectric constant($d_{31}$ ) of $-180{\times}10^{-12}C/N$ was used. The material of cantilever is an aluminum and two kinds of cantilever of which dimensions are (150, 190)$[mm]{\times}13[mm]{\times}1.5[mm]$ were experimented, respectively. The cantilever was fixed on the magnetic type vibrator and the vibrator was operated by power input with a sine wave. The characteristics of requency and mass variation of cantilever end part such as 0, 2.22, 4.34, 5.87, 8.66, 11.01 [g] were investigated. Finally, this paper suggests a method of generating electrical energy with a piezoelectric element using wind, an energy source that is easily applied and from which we can obtain "clean" energy.

해류발전 로터의 개발 (Development of Current Generation Rotor)

  • In this research, a design guideline of current generating rotor and acceptable field rotor in offshore environment is proposed. To design rotor model, wind mill rotor design principles and turbine theories were applied based on a field rotor experimental data. To verify the compatibility of the rotor design method and to analyze the properties of design factors, 3 rotor models were designed and experimented in a circular water channel. Three rotor models were designed according to different blade numbers and blade shapes. With various flow velocities and rotor rpm, the rotor power and efficiency were measured and the properties of rotor were estimated. The results can be effectively applied to the design of current generation rotor.

  • For the greenhouse gas emissions' reduction of fossil fuel, the energy policy on promotion of alternative energy should be implemented. Accordingly, national policies on the development and promotion of alternative energy were made and related laws and regulations are being made and comprehensive plans should be followed. The policies and strategies for promoting the renewable energy have been insufficient in comparison with that of the developed countries. This paper suggests the optimal subsidy level for Photovoltaic and Wind Power.

수평축 해류발전 로터의 설계와 성능해석 (Study on HAT Current Generation Rotor)

도서지역 신·재생복합 전력시스템 보급 타당성 분석 -3개 도서지역 분석결과- (A Pre-Feasibility Test of Introducing Renewable Energy Hybrid Systems -Case Studies for 3 Off-Grid Islands-)

  • 하이브리드 시스템의 최적 설계 및 운영을 위한 프로그램으로 해외의 여러 곳에서 활용중인 Homer를 사용하여 현재 디젤발전기를 전원으로 사용하고 있는 독립계통의 도서지역에 신 재생에너지원의 조합으로 구성된 하이브리드 시스템을 보급할 경우의 타당성 분석을 시도하였다. 에너지기술연구원의 풍속자료, 일사량, 온도자료 등을 근거로 추자도, 거문도, 그리고 영산도를 평가대상으로 선정하였다. 해당지역의 전력부하 자료는 부분적으로 실측된 자료를 바탕으로 재구성하였으며, 시스템 구성 발전기들의 비용 자료는 국내 관련 자료가 미비한 관제로 해외 시장의 자료를 이용하였다. 추자도, 거문도, 영산도의 평가결과가 각각 278원/kWh, 234원/kWh 그리고 353원/kWh으로 나타났다. 정부 보조금에 의한 디젤발전시스템의 발전단가가 300원/kWh($0.300/kWh)인 것을 고려한다면, 추자도와 거문도는 자체적으로 경제성을 확보하는 반면 영산도의 경우는 그렇지 못함을 알 수 있다. 이러한 결과 차이는 기본적으로 해당지역의 재생에너지 자원조건의 차이, 그 중에서도 특히 풍력자원의 차이에 기인하는 것으로 나타난다. 결론적으로 독립계통의 도서지역에 대한 신 재생복합전력시스템의 도입은 경제성 평가의 결과에 의거해야 하며 모든 도서지역이 이 조건을 충족시키는 것이 아님을 지적한다.
