Analysis of Flows around the Rotor-Blades as Rotating Body System of Wind Turbine (풍력 발전기의 Rotor-Blades 회전체 시스템 공력 해석)

  • The most important component of wind turbine is rotor blades. The developing method of wind turbine was focused on design of rotor blade. By the way, the design of a rotating body is more decisive process in order to adjust the performance of wind turbine. For instance, the design allows the designer to specify the wind characteristics derived by topographical map. The iterative solver is then used to adjust one of the selected inputs so that the desired rotating performance which is directly related to power generating capacity and efficiency is achieved. Furthermore, in order to save the money for manufacturing the rotor blades and to decrease the maintenance fee of wind power generation plant, while decelerating the cut-in speed of rotor. Therefore, the design and manufacturing of rotating body is understood as a substantial technology of wind power generation plant development. The aiming of this study is building-up the profitable approach to designing of rotating body as a system for the wind power generation plant. The process was conducted in two steps. Firstly, general designing and it’s serial testing of rotating body for voltage measurement. Secondly, the serial test results above were examined with the CFD code. Then, the analysis is made on the basis of amount of electricity generated by rotor-blades and of cut-in speed of generator.

Anomaly detection in blade pitch systems of floating wind turbines using LSTM-Autoencoder (LSTM-Autoencoder를 이용한 부유식 풍력터빈 블레이드 피치 시스템의 이상징후 감지)

  • This paper presents an anomaly detection system that uses an LSTM-Autoencoder model to identify early-stage anomalies in the blade pitch system of floating wind turbines. The sensor data used in power plant monitoring systems is primarily composed of multivariate time-series data for each component. Comprising two unidirectional LSTM networks, the system skillfully uncovers long-term dependencies hidden within sequential time-series data. The autoencoder mechanism, learning solely from normal state data, effectively classifies abnormal states. Thus, by integrating these two networks, the system can proficiently detect anomalies. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed framework, a real multivariate time-series dataset collected from a wind turbine model was employed. The LSTM-autoencoder model showed robust performance, achieving high classification accuracy.

A Numerical Study on the Aerodynamic Characteristics for a HAWT of NREL Phase VI (NREL Phase VI 수평축 풍력터빈의 공력특성에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • The purpose of this work is to compare and analyze computed results with experimental data of NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) Phase VI for the whole operating conditions of various wind speeds using $\kappa-\omega$ turbulence model provided in the commercial code, FLUENT. Performance results such as power coefficient, shaft torque, pressure coefficient show a good agreement with experimental data. But, root bending moment is over-predicted than the experimentally measured value by about 30% for the whole operating conditions because of indefinite measurement reference. Nevertheless, these results qualitatively show a good tendency in the aspect of aerodynamic performance. As wind speed increases, streamlines on the surface of blade show more and more complex pattern.

  • In this paper a wind power simulator is designed and implemented. This simulator realize the torque of wind blade by DC motor. And squirrel-cage induction machine is used as generator and controlled to achieve the maximum power point tracking(MPPT) algorithm.

  • The optimum design and the performance analysis software called POSEIDON for the HAWT (Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine) was developed by use of BEMT. The Prandtl's tip loss theory was adopted to consider the blade tip loss. The lift and the drag coefficient of S-809 airfoil were predicted via X-FOIL and also the post stall characteristics of S-809 were estimated by the Viterna's equations. All the predicted aerodynamic characteristics are fairly well agreed with the wind tunnel test results, performed by Sommers in Delft university of technology. The rated power of the testing rotor is 20kW(FIL-20) at design conditions. The experimental aerodynamic parameters and the X-FOIL data were used for the power prediction of the FIL-20 respectively. The comparison results shows good agreement in power prediction.

  • This research focuses on the development of an interrogator that operates and measures fiber Bragg grating(FBG) multiplexing sensor probes for accurate-measurement of the blade deflection in a wind power generator. We designed and fabricated an optical source and spectrum module for the interrogator. Additionally, we verified the wavelength repeatability within 0.001 nm and the wavelength stability within 1 pm of the optical source, and we experimentally determined that the wavelength scanning range was about 44.4 nm. The FBG sensor with 2 nm resolution can be extended to a performance-efficient system that measures more than 20 sensors. The implemented interrogator has 0.141 nm wavelength variations corresponding to an ambient temperature range of $0^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$. The measurement error can be easily reduced by employing a temperature compensation algorithm. In this study, we quantitatively confirmed the accuracy and operating stability of the interrogator.

  • A three-dimensional flow simulation was performed to investigate the flow field in a wind farm on a complex terrain. The present study aims to examine the effects of mountainous terrain and turbine arrangement on the performance of wind power generation. A total of 49 wind turbines was modeled in the computational domain; detailed blade shape of the turbines was considered. Frozen rotor method was used to simulate the rotating operation. The torque acting on the turbine blades was calculated to evaluate the performance of the wind turbines. The numerical results showed details of the flow structure in the wind farm including the velocity deficit in the separated flow regions; this velocity deficit was due to the topographical effect. The effect of the wake induced by the upstream turbine on the performance of the downstream wind turbine could also be observed from the results. The methodology of the present study can be used for selecting future wind-farm sites and wind-turbine locations in a selected site to ensure maximum power generation.

  • 최근 신재생 에너지로 풍력 발전 시스템이 중요시 되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 풍력발전 시스템의 Wind Turbine System을 영구자석형 동기기를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 모델을 구현하였다. 시뮬레이션 모델은 회전자 모델, MPPT 알고리즘, 영구자석형 동기기(PMSM) 등으로 구성되어있다. Wind Blade Rotor의 유체역학적 특성 및 가감속 제어전략을 이용하여 Wind Turbine System의 특성을 시뮬레이션 할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구 결과는 이후 영구자석형 동기기를 이용한 풍력발전기의 기초 자료로서 이용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
