  • Need developments of substitute energy to solve problem of global warming by excess use of fossil energy, excess discharge of carbon dioxide. wind power generation system is all-important energy in next generation as clean energy. Environmental pollution of wind power generation system is not exhausted entirely. And, electric-power generation system cost is cheap than other energy. Wind Generation system that is supplied much present is most horizontality style blade structure. But, Horizontal style structure is serious noise and there is problem in stability of blade. We designed special blade solve to this problem. And, manufactured vertical axis wind power generation system because using blade. Also, developed assistance power generator to increase driving efficiency ago wind power generation. We expect this devices that is such cover shortcoming of wind power generation system.

  • This study is to develop a 1kW-class small wind turbine blade which will be applicable to relatively low speed regions. For this blade, a high efficiency wind turbine blade is designed and a light and low cost composite structure blade is adopted considering fatigue life. In this study, shape design of 1kW-class small wind turbine blade for hybrid power generation system is carried out by BEMT(blade element momentum theory). X-FOIL open software was used to acquire lift and drag coefficients of the 2D airfoils used in power prediction procedure. Moreover, pressure and velocity distributions are investigated according to TSR by CFD analysis.

  • Darrieus wind turbine blade is one of the vertical wind power system in which the lift of blade is used. In the calculation of wind power for the type of that, the multiple streamtubes method is known as an effective method. But it has big difference in the region of higher tip speed ratio because the incoming air velocity is used in the calculation of lift. The incoming air velocity is reduced from inlet to outlet continually by transferring energy to the wind blade. In this study, the air velocity on the blade, which is called blade velocity, is obtained with newly developed algorithm and used to determine the lift. And it is verified that applying blade velocity on the lift calculation cause the power prediction to improve dramatically in the region of higher tip speed ratio.

  • The wind turbine blade is the equipment converted wind into electric energy. The effect of the blade has influence of the output power and efficiency of wind turbine. The design of blade is considered of lift-to-drag ratio. structure. a condition of process of manufacture and stable maximum lift coefficient, etc. This study is used the simplified method for design of the aerodynamic blade and aerodynamic analysis used blade element method This Process is programed by delphi-language. The Program has any input values such as tip speed ratio blade length. hub length. a section of shape and max lift-to-drag ratio. The Program displays chord length and twist angle by input value and analyzes performance of the blade.

  • Because of the energy resources shortage and global pollution, the wind power systems have been developed consistently. Among the components of the wind power system, the rotor blades are the most important component. Generally it is made of GFRP material. Recently, GFRP material has been replaced by CFRP composite material in the blade which has an aerodynamic profile and twisted tip. However the failures has occurred in the trailing edge of the blade by the severe wind loading. Thus, tougher material than CFRP material is needed as like the aramid fiber. In this study, we investigated the mechanical behaviors of the blade using aramid fiber composites about wind speed variation. One-way FSI (fluid-structure interaction)analysis for the wind rotor blade was conducted. The structural analyses using the surface pressure loading resulted from wind flow field analysis were carried out. The results and analysis procedure in this paper can be utilized for the best strength design of the blade with aramid fiber composites.

  • In this paper, doubly-fed induction-type wind power generation system simulation model for grid connection is developed. The simulation model is based on PSCAD/EMTDC and consists of rotor-blade, blade controller, generator power converter and generator controller Blade controller controls the blade pitch angle for starting, peak power limiting and emergency condition. Generator controller controls the generator output power to maximize the system efficiency. Simulation results are shown for the variable wind speed conditions. The simulation model can be utilized for study of actual interaction between wind turbine and grid for reliable operation and protection of power system.

  • Current wind turbine units that are used primarily 3Blade type devices or large-scale wind-term capacity of 2MW of 60m~90m Blade diameter is applied. This is not the best suitable design with the designing condition for the special quality of wind condition in the South-West Coastal Areas of Korea where the wind speed frequency of average wind speed and over 10m/s high wind velocity is fairly low. For this matter, in this dissertation, the expecting generation amount of electric power is measured excluding a mechanical moment, considering wind power energy traveling to the Blade when 60m~120m blade is applied, based on 2MW wind generator. Also, we would like to propose the Blade diameter which is fitted by wind condition of South-West Coastal Areas of Korea.

  • This study is to develop a 1kW-class horizontal axis wind turbine(HAWT) rotor blade which will be applicable to relatively low wind speed regions in southwest islands in Korea. Shape design of 1kW-class small wind turbine rotor blade is carried out using a blade profile with relatively high lift to drag ratio by blade element momentum theory(BEMT). Aerodynamic analysis on the newly designed rotor blade is performed with the variation of tip speed ratio. Power coefficient and pressure coefficient of the designed rotor blade are investigated according to tip speed ratio.

  • In this study, a new shape of wind turbine with horizontal axis has been proposed. The proposed wind turbine has two pairs of 3 tiltable blades which minimizes air resistance during the reverse rotational direction. Under a given wind speed, 3D numerical simulations on tiltable blades were performed for various TSRs(tip-speed-ratios). Four cases of rotational position was considered to analyze the torque and wind power generated on the blade surfaces. The results show that the maximum wind power occurs at the TSR of 0.2. Due to the blade tilting, the wind passes through the blade without air resistance at the reverse rotational direction. The torque is mainly caused by pressure differences between the front and rear surface of the blade, and it becomes maximum when the blade is located at the azimuth angle of 330°.

  • This paper describes a research for the performance improvement of the straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine. To improve the performance of VAWT, the individual blade pitch control method is adopted. For the wind turbine, CFD analysis is carried out by changing blade pitch angle according to the change of wind speed and wind direction. By this method, capacity and power efficiency of VAWT are obtained according to the wind speed and rotating of rotor, and could predict the overall performance of VAWT. It was manufactured to verify performance of the experimental system that consists of rotor including four blades and base. Furthermore, torque sensor and power generator were installed. Also, active controller which can change the pitch angle of the individual blade according to the wind speed and direction was used.
