Digital Power IC design using VHDL and FPGA (VHDL과 FPGA를 이용한 Digital Power IC 설계)

  • In this paper, the boost converter was implemented by digital control in many applications of the step-up. The PWM(pulse width modulation) control module of boost converter was digitized at power converter using the FPGA device and VHDL. The boost converter was designed to output a fixed voltage through the PI control algorithm of the PWM control module even if input voltage and output load are variable. The boost converter was digitized can be simplified by reducing the size of the module and the external control components. Thus, the digital power IC has advantageous for weight reduction and miniaturization of electronic products because it can be controlled remotely by setting the desired output voltage and PWM control module. The boost converter using the digital power IC was confirmed through experiments and the good performances were showed from experiment results.

A Study of Aerodynamical Effects on the Distance between Track Center of High Speed Train(I) (고속철도 선로중심 간격에 끼치는 공력 영향에 관한 연구(I))

  • When constructing a high-speed railroad, the reduction of the distance between track centers and the width of track bed may bring about the effect of cost savings. When, however, considering the influence that the increase of wind pressure due to the change of the distance between track centers may have on the stability of train operation, extensive technical review and overall studies need to be performed before the distance between track centers is determined. Therefore, in this study, the impact that the increase in wind pressure due to the change of aerodynamic phenomena with the change of the distance between track centers may have on two trains passing by each other was predicted, and the stability of train operation was analyzed in order to review the distance between track centers suitable to Honam HSR trains. In this study, we estimated the aerodynamical effects by the results of the real train experiments.

  • The monolithically integrated receiver OEIC using InGaAs/InP PIN PD, junction FET's and bias resistor has been fabricated on semi-insulating InP substrate. The fabrication process is highly compatible between PD and self-aligned JFET, and reduction in gate length is achieved using an anisotropic selective etching and a non-planar OMVPE process. The PIN photodetector with a 80 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ diameter exhibits current of less than 5 nA and a capacitance of about 0.35 pF at -5 V bias voltage. An extrinsic transconductance and a gate-source capacitance of the JFET with 4 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ gate length (gate width = 150 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) are typically 45 mS/mm and 0.67 pF at 0 V, respectively. A voltage gain of the pre-amplifier is 5.5.

Polymeric Waveguides with Bragg Gratings in the Middle of the Core Layer

  • In this paper we proposed a new Bragg grating waveguide in order to improve reflectivity and to achieve compactness. Bragg gratings with various thicknesses were engraved in the middle of the core layer with a length of 3 mm. For the sake of cost-effectiveness, the $3^{rd}$ order Bragg grating waveguides were fabricated via conventional photolithography. The maximum reflectivities for the fixed width waveguide of $6{\mu}m$ with the 0.1 and $0.3{\mu}m$-thick Bragg gratings were, -13.14 and -6.25 dB, respectively, and the Bragg wavelengths were 1562.28, 1564.10 nm, respectively. A slight increase in the Bragg grating thickness can result in a remarkable reduction in the length of the Bragg grating waveguide with a fixed reflectivity.

CFS Strengthening Effect of Reinforced Concrete Beams under Loading States (재하상태에 따른 철근콘크리트 보의 탄소섬유쉬트 보강효과)

  • The target of this study is to compare and analyze the strengthening effect of damaged reinforced concrete beams under unloading and loading conditions through the simulation of strengthening condition in real structures. The conclusion of test results are as follows : For the concrete beam wrapped at the side in addition to be strengthened at the bottom, the strength and stiffness increase. although the flexural capacity depends on the strengthening method, it generally shows that the strength improve in the range of 22% to 39% in comparison with the specimen without strengthening. In case of applying th equation suggested by CangaRao & Vijay for the wraped concrete beam, it must be modified because it is likely to overestimate the flexural capacity considering the height of wrapping as the width of concrete. The strength an stiffness of reinforced concrete beams in proportion to the percentage of damage decrease. Damaged beams, which are strengthened by CFS, is structurally efficient and show reduction of strength comparing with the specimen without strengthening but stiffness is increasing.

  • The compressive strength of horizontal joints in precast concrete large panel structures depends on parameters such as grout and panel strength, detail of joint, joint moment, width of grout column etc. As the panels are only connected at the pocket, it results in the reduction of compressive strength area. The purposes of this study are to develop the suitable grout material the joint pocket and to enable us to evaluate structural capacity. The validity of the design formulas provides us more economic system in construction. Test results of 15 specimens show that the proper construction procedure and grouting material develop the sufficient compressive strength of the wall as monolithic system.

  • 1- Buildup PCB technology is utilized to a bare chip attach substrate technology for packaging of semiconductor chip 2- Requirement for the substrate design rule is described in SIA International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductor. 3- There are seven fabrication methods of build-up technology. 4- Coating and lamination for resin and photo, and laser for micro via hope processes are available. Below $50\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter is possible. 5- Fine pitch lines down to $30\mu\textrm{m}$ can be achieved by pattern plating with better electrical property. 6- Dielectric loss reduction is a key material improvement item for next generation build-up technology. 7- High band width up to 512 GB/s is possible with current wiring groundrule.

  • We have designed and fabricated the slidacs type automatic voltage regulator(SVR) that is able to control the output voltage continuously according to load variation. Especially, the frictions between the surface of contact of the slidacs coils and the output wire moving shaft arc reduced by modifying the mechanical configuration of surface of contact of slidacs from the conventional sliding one into the proposed rotary one composed of cylindrical bearing. Thus, SVR using cylindrical bearing proposed in this study has less noise than the conventional one owing to the reduction of friction, and its breakdown ratio caused by the abrasion of contact materials is reduced as well. We have designed U motor driving circuit for controlling the output wire moving shaft, and introduced the digital control method using the pulse width modulation(PWM) output for controlling DC motor.

  • This paper deals with the core loss as well as torque characteristics according to the change of stator shape in an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). The finite element method and functional core loss data obtained by the steinmetz equation are used in order to estimate the core loss. To minimize the core loss caused by the shape of tooth tip, slot-area and volume of permanent magnet, those are all the same in each model. In the end, the ratio between tooth width and yoke thickness to minimize the core loss in the IPMSM is presented in this paper.

Traffic Accident Models of 3-Legged Signalized Intersections in the Case of Cheongju (3지 신호교차로의 교통사고 발생모형 - 청주시를 사례로 -)

  • This study deals with the traffic accidents at the 3-legged signalized intersections in Cheongu. The goals are to analyze the geometric, traffic and operational conditions of intersections and to develop a various functional forms that predict the accidents. The models are developed through the correlation analysis, the multiple linear, the multiple nonlinear, Poisson and negative binomial regression analysis. In this study, two multiple linear, two multiple nonlinear and two negative binomial regression models were calibrated. These models were all analyzed to be statistically significant. All the models include 2 common variables(traffic volume and lane width) and model-specific variables. These variables are, therefore, evaluated to be critical to the accident reduction of Cheongju.
