측면시야각에서의 대칭적 명암대비비 향상을 위한 IPS-LCD 광학보상 (Optical Compensation of IPS-LCD for Symmetric-High-Contrast at Off-Axis Oblique View)

  • In this study, we proposed an optical compensation method to improve the symmetricity of contrast ratio for wide viewing angle IPS (in-plane switching) LCD. First, the phase retardation depending on the thickness of compensation film is calculated, and then the phase change is presented at the $Poincar{\acute{e}}$ sphere. The phase retardation and the polarization state of the light passing through the optical elements are caculated by using the EJMM (extended Jones matrix method). In addition, the transmittance and the contrast countour are also calculated by using the Berremann's $4{\times}4$ matrix method. The simulation is carried out for a IPS LC cell with positive A/C/A compensation film. From the standard deviation of the contrast ratio, we confirmed the symmetricity at each viewing angle is inversely proportional to the standard deviation and calculated the optimum design condition of the uniaxial compensation film for the IPS LCD.

정상교합자의 상하악절치 위치에 관한 연구 (A STUDY OF UPPER AND LOWER INCISOR POSITION IN NORMAL OCCLUSION)

  • This study was attempted to individualize upper and lower incisor position appropriate to individual characteristic dento-facial pattern. Lateral cephalometric radiographs of 75 Korean adults with normal occlusion and good facial profile whose ages were over 17 years were traced, digitized, and statistically analysed. The results of this study were as follows; 1. All cephalometric measurements of incise. position and dento-facial pattern for normal occlusion showed wide range of variation. 2. There were no significant differences of incisor position between males and females. 3. Lower incisor position was highly correlated with ANB, N-A-Pog and SN/Mand. pl. angle and upper incisor position, with ANB, N-A-Pog and SN/Occ. pl. angle. 4. Multiple regression equations were established to individualize incisor position appropriate to individual characteristic dento-facial pattern. ANB and N-A-Pog angle were selected as the significant guiding variables affecting upper and lower incisor position. 5. Lower incisor position such as $\bar{1}$ to SN, $\bar{1}$ to occlusal plane and $\bar{1}$ to NPog(mm) and upper incisor position such as $\underline{1}$ to SN, $\underline{1}$ to palatal plane, $\underline{1}$ to NA, $\underline{1}$ to NA (mm) and $\underline{1}$ to NPog(mm) could highly predicted from the variables of dento-facial pattern.

들기 작업시 손잡이의 영향에 관한 연구 (A study on coupling effect during lifting)

  • Despite rapid technological advance and increased automation facilities, many jobs and activities in our living require manual materials handling(MMH). These include wide variety of activities such as moving things, lifting bags. boxes or cartons, etc. Many studies found that handle could affect on maximum acceptable weight of lifting, but there were few studies f3r the effects of work posture and coupling in lifting tote box. This study performed that ten male college students were required to lift a tote box with and without handle for three postures (bending, straight, right angle posture). From the experiment, following results were obtained. (1) MVC reduced maximum 23% by type of handle. (2) MVC was highest in straight posture, but was lowest in right angle posture. (3) As a result of ANOVA, MVC paid attention to posture and coupling. (p<0.01) (4) To all handle types, biceps brachii activity was increased in right angle posture. but reduced in straight posture. (5) To all posture, biceps brachii activity was most lively in no handle. The results of MVC measurement, subjective rating, EMG analysis, statistic analysis showed that maximum acceptable weight of lifting was influenced by type of handle and straight posture was more comfortable than other postures. Based on these results, it was concluded that acceptable weight of lifting has to differ for work posture and coupling.

  • An underwater glider makes it easy to explore a wide area with low power. However, an underwater glider is difficult to use for rapid collection, because the surfacing location cannot be predicted after a dive. Thus, simulation research is needed to predict the swimming path. In this paper, based on research, a linearized equation is derived for the drag coefficient at each angle of attack by assuming the boundary conditions for the Slocum underwater glider and performing a computational flow analysis.

Fabry-Perot Filter Constructed with Anisotropic Space Layer and Isotropic Mirrors

  • In this study a new design concept of the Fabry-Perot filter, constructed with an anisotropic space layer and a couple of isotropic mirrors, was proposed based on the Maxwell equations and the characteristic matrix method. The single- and double-cavity Fabry-Perot filters were designed, and their optical properties were investigated with a developed software package. In addition, the dependence of the transmittance and phase shift for two orthogonal polarization states on the column angle of the anisotropic space layer and the incidence angle were discussed. We demonstrated that the polarization state of electromagnetic waves and phase shifts can be modulated by exploiting an anisotropic space layer in a polarization F-P filter. Birefringence of the anisotropic space layer provided a sophisticated phase modulation with varied incidence angles over a broad range, resulting in a wide-angle phase shift. This new concept would be useful for designing optical components with isotropic and anisotropic materials.

Shear lag coefficient of angles with bolted connections including equal and different legs through finite element method

  • Shear lag phenomenon has long been considered in numerous structural codes; however, the AISC provisions have now no longer proposed any unique equation to calculate the shear lag ratio in bolted connections for angles in general. It is noticeable that, however, codes used in this case are largely conservative and need to be amended. A parametric study consisting of 27 angle sections with equal legs and different with bolted connections was performed to investigate the effects of shear lag on the ultimate tensile capacity of angle members. The main parameters were: steel grade, connection length and eccentricity from the center of the plate, as well as the number of rows of bolts parallel to the applied force. The test results were compared with the predictions of the classical 1-x/l law proposed by Mons and Chesen to investigate its application to quantify the effect of shear lag. A parametric study was performed using valid FE models that cover a wide range of parameters. Finally, based on the numerical results, design considerations were proposed to quantify the effect of shear lag on the ultimate tensile capacity of the tensile members.

더블 웨브앵글 반강접 CFT 기둥-보 접합부의 이력거동 (Hysteresis Behavior of Semirigid CFT Column-to-Beam Connections with a Double Web-Angle)

  • 본 논문은 반복하중을 받는 CFT 합성골조의 더블 웨브앵글 접합부의 휨모멘트 내력에 대해 체계적으로 수행된 유한요소 연구로부터 얻은 결과를 제시하고 있다. 합성 부분강접 CFT 접합부의 회전강성, 휨모멘트 내력 및 파괴모드를 연구하기 위하여 3차원 비선형 유한요소 해석이 수행되었다. 부가적인 다양한 구조적 거동은 앵글의 두께 및 고강도 강봉 게이지 거리로 더블 웨브앵글 접합부의 파라미터에 대한 영향을 설명하고 있다. 해석모델의 적합성은 정적 유한요소해석 결과로부터 얻은 모멘트-회전각 곡선을 Richard의 회귀분석을 통하여 비교 분석하였다.

인랙스프링클러 헤드의 살수 특성 (Spray Characteristics of In-Rack Sprinkler Heads)

  • 본 연구는 랙크식 창고에 적용되고 있는 인랙스프링클러의 살수특성을 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 국내산 헤드와 미국산 헤드를 대상으로 흐름성능실험, 방사각도 측정, 각도별 밀도측정 등이 수행되었다. 국내산 헤드의 경우 넓은 방사범위를 가지고 있으며, 미국산 헤드의 경우 국내산 헤드에 비하여 좁은 각도를 가지고 있다. 동일한 K80헤드로 비교해보면 국내산 헤드는 직접 살수가 어려운 부분으로 물을 보낼 수는 있으나, 각도별 살수밀도는 낮은 수준이었다. 미국산 헤드는 상대적으로 좁은 각도 내에 국내산에 비하여 많은 량의 물을 보낼 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 랙크식 창고의 평면적으로 2열 이상으로 배치된 가연물에 대해서는 화재확산을 억제하거나 진압 효과를 가지기 위해서는 페이스 스프링클러의 도입과 함께 지그재그 형태로의 배치를 통해 살수장애지역을 최소화 해야 할 것으로 보인다.

흡입 밸브 각도에 따른 엔진 부분부하 성능 특성 (Part Load Performance Characteristics according to Inlet Valve Angle)

  • 본 논문에서는 가솔린 기관에서 흡입 밸브 각도가 엔진의 부분부하 성능에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 혼합비 반응 특성을 통해 알아보았다. 흡입 밸브각이 작은 엔진이 흡입 밸브 각이 큰 엔진에 비해 배기가스 중 질소산화물 (BSNOx)의 양은 줄어들었고, 점화시기는 지각되었고, 제동연료소비율은 조금 개선되었다. 배기가스 중 질소산화물의 양이 줄고 점화시기가 지각 되었다는 것은 급속 연소가 일어났다고 판단할 수 있다. 시험 결과를 살펴보면 흡입 밸브각이 작아지면 기관의 연소 성능이 좋아지는 것으로 판단 될 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 반복하중을 받는 CFT 합성골조에서 부분강접 접합부인 상 하부 ㄱ형강 접합부의 휨모멘트 내력을 구하기 위하여 체계적인 수치해석이 수행되었다. 고강도강 연결봉으로 조립된 합성 부분강접 CFT 접합부의 회전강성, 휨모멘트 내력 및 파괴모드를 연구하기 위하여 3차원 비선형 유한요소 해석이 수행되었다. 부가적인 다양한 구조적 거동은 ㄱ형강의 두께 및 고강도 강봉 게이지 거리로 상 하부 ㄱ형강 접합의 파라미터에 대한 영향을 설명하고 있다. 해석모델의 적합성은 유한요소해석 결과로부터 얻은 모멘트-회전각 곡선을 Richard의 회귀분석을 통하여 비교 분석하였다.
