흑인다운 것: 현대흑인문학 속에 도입된 흑인음악장르의 종류와 역할 분석 (Being blackness: An analysis of sorts and rolls of Afro-American music genres adopted in post-structural Afro-American literary works)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore sorts and roles of Afro-American music genres such as jazz, blues, gospel, and swing which were shown in post-structural Afro-American literary works: Toni Morrison's novel Jazz, Alice Walker's novel The Color Purple, and August Wilson's play The Piano Lesson. It has been phenomenal for several important Afro-American writers to create their works in which they invite traditional Afro-American music genres. This has made significant effects to depict a wide range of episodes in their works, which are historically and culturally associated with such music genres. This paper analyzes varied ways in which the writers combine these two artistic fields, which are all Afro-American, and express their authenticity and identity as being blackness.

Characterization of SWCNT Field Effect Transistor via Edison Simulation

  • A semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) field-effect transistor (FET) in a top-gate model was constructed. The effect of different high-${\kappa}$ dielectric materials ($Al_2O_3$, $HfO_2$ and HfSiON) and various temperatures with a wide range from 50K to 500K on the performance of such nominal device were investigated. Several key device parameters including the on/off ratio of the current, transconductance ($g_m$), subthreshold swing, and carrier mobility were used to evaluate the device performance. The simulated results fit well with the experiment results previously published.

적응형 가변 전원 레귤레이터를 내장한 인공 망막용 전류 자극기 (Current Stimulator with Adaptive Supply Regulator for Artificial Retina Prosthesis)

  • In this paper, a current stimulator circuit with adaptive supply regulator for retinal prosthesis is proposed. In current stimulation systems, the stimulating circuits with wide voltage swing range are needed due to the high impedance of the retina cell and microelectrodes. Thus, previous researches adopt the high voltage architecture to obtain the enough operating range. The high voltage architecture, however, could increase the power consumption and can damage the retina cells. The proposed circuit provides the adaptively regulated supply voltage by measuring the difference between desired stimulation current and the actual stimulation current. The proposed circuit can achieve the extended range of the allowable cell impedance, improved accuracy of the stimulation current, and higher biosafety.

New Adaptive Linear Combination Structure for Tracking/Estimating Phasor and Frequency of Power System

  • This paper presents new Adaptive Linear Combination Structure (ADALINE) for tracking/estimating voltage-current phasor and frequency of power system. To estimate the phasors and frequency from sampled data, the algorithm assumes that orthogonal coefficients and speed of angular frequency of power system are unknown parameters. With adequate sampled data, the estimation problem can be considered as a linear weighted least squares (LMS) problem. In addition to determining the phasors (orthogonal coefficients), the procedure estimates the power system frequency. The main algorithm is verified through a computer simulation and data from field. The proposed algorithm is tested with transient and dynamic behaviors during power swing, a step change of frequency upon islanding of small generators and disconnection of load. The algorithm shows a very high accuracy, robustness, fast response time and adaptive performance over a wide range of frequency, from 10 to 2000 Hz.

이동도 보상 회로와 공통모드 전압 조절기법을 이용한 선형 CMOS OTA (Design of a Linear CMOS OTA with Mobility Compensation and Common-Mode Control Schemes)

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 선형 연산 트랜스컨덕턴스 증폭기(OTA)를 제안한다. OTA의 선형성 향상을 위해 이동도 보상 회로와 공통모드 전압 조절기법을 적용했다. 이동도 보상 회로는 각각 트라이오드와 서브스레쉬홀드 영역에서 동작하는 트랜지스터의 경로를 연결하여 이동도 감소를 보상한다. 공통모드 전압 조절기법은 공통모드 피드백(CMFB)과 공통모드 피드포워드(CMFF)로 구성된다. 제안된 기술은 넓은 입력전압 스윙 범위에서 향상된 Gm의 선형성을 나타낸다. 제안된 OTA는 ${\pm}1.1V$의 입력전압 스윙 범위 내에서 ${\pm}1%$의 Gm변화율을 갖고 총고조파 왜곡(THD)은 -73dB 이하이다. 제안된 OTA는 $0.35{\mu}m$ n-well CMOS 공정에서 공급전압이 3.3V를 갖도록 설계되었다.

고속 PMIC용 2단 광대역 OTA방식의 LDO 레귤레이터 설계 (Design of the LDO Regulator with 2-stage wide-band OTA for High Speed PMIC)

  • 고속 PMIC를 위한 빠른 천이 응답 시간을 가지는 CMOS LDO 레귤레이터를 설계하였다. 제안하는 LDO 레귤레이터 회로는 기준전압회로와 오류증폭회로, 파워 트랜지스터 등으로 이루어지며, 출력전압의 안정성을 높이기 위하여 오류증폭 회로와 파워 트랜지스터 사이에 버퍼로써 2단 광대역 OTA를 추가하였다. 기존의 연구에서 제안된 가장 간단하게 구현할 수 있는 버퍼로는 소스팔로워 구조가 있으나, 출력 스윙이 좁고 신호 대 잡음비가 저하되는 문제점이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 2단 광대역 OTA를 버퍼로 사용하여 LDO 전압 레귤레이터의 출력 특성을 개선하였다. $0.5{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정을 이용하여 모의실험 한 결과, 라인 레귤레이션은 16 mV/V, 부하 레귤레이션 0.007 %/mA를 얻었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 넓은 동작전압 범위와 저소비 전력 그리고 개선된 파워-업 특성을 가지는 캐스코드 전류 거울형 CMOS 밴드갭 기준전압 발생기의 스타트-업 회로를 제안하였다. 새롭게 제안된 스타트-업 회로는 기존의 스타트-업 회로에 비해 안정적인 파워-업 특성을 가지며 공급전압(VDDA)이 높아지더라도 밴드갭 기준전압 발생기 회로의 동작에 영향을 미치지 않는 것을 모의실험을 통하여 확인하였고 $0.18{\mu}m$ tripple-well CMOS 공정을 이용하여 테스트 칩을 제작하고 측정하였다. 측정 된 기준전압 Vref는 평균값이 738mV이고 $3{\sigma}$는 29.88mV이다.

0.35㎛ CMOS 공정에서 벌크 입력을 사용한 저전압 저전력 OTAs (Low voltage Low power OTAs using bulk driven in 0.35㎛ CMOS Process)

  • 본 논문에서는 저전압, 저전력 회로에 적합하고, $0.35{\mu}m$ 공정을 이용한 3가지의 OTA를 제시한다. 첫 번째는 1V의 공급전압과 $1.774{\mu}W$의 소비전력을 사용하며 모든 트랜지스터들이 strong inversion 영역에서 동작한다. Bulk 입력으로 인해 줄어든 gm을 보상하기 위해서 Gm-enhancement 기법을 사용하였고, 저전압으로 동작하는 Wide swing current mirror, Class-A output을 적용하였다. 두 번째는 0.8V의 공급전압과 52nW의 소비전력을 사용하여 112dB의 높은 이득을 가지는 2-stage OTA이다. Current mirror는 두 개의 MOS의 Gate를 묶는 Composite Transistor 구조를 사용하여 마치 Cascode와 같은 효과를 주어 출력저항을 높여주었다. 세 번째는 0.6V의 공급전압과 160nW의 소비전력을 사용하여 77dB의 이득을 가지는 2-stage OTA이다. 두 번째 증폭 단에 추가적인 바이어스전압이 필요하지 않으면서 증폭할 수 있도록 Common Gate 구조로 구현하여 Level Shift 기능을 사용하였다.

투구 속도 증가에 따른 타자의 발 움직임과 지면 반력의 변화 (The Movement of Foot and the Shift of Ground Reaction Force in Batters according to the Ball Speed Increase)

  • The batting performance in baseball is a repetitive movement. In order to make the stabilization of posture and the efficient shift of body weight, both the range of stance and stride are important. The previous studies explained that the consistent stride which included the amount of time, stance, and direction were needed. However, the batting performance is frequently changed according to the several speed of ball. Therefore, this study was to analyze the reaction time, the range of stance, the change of stride, and the change of GRF during the batting movement in three kinds of ball speed (120km/h, 130km/h, & 140km/h). Seven elite players are participated in this study. 1. The reaction time of the stride phase was short whereas the time of the swing phase was long according to the increasing ball speed. 2. The range of the stance was wide and the mediolateral direction of the stride was decreased according to the increasing ball speed. 3. In the three kinds of ball speed, the change of body weight was transferred to the center, the rear foot, and the front foot directions. The ball speed of 130km/h showed the high frequency of the suitable batting. At this ball speed, the movement of the body weight was shifted smoothly and the value of the Ground Reaction Force was large enough.

Gait event detection algorithm based on smart insoles

  • Gait analysis is an effective clinical tool across a wide range of applications. Recently, inertial measurement units have been extensively utilized for gait analysis. Effective gait analyses require good estimates of heel-strike and toe-off events. Previous studies have focused on the effective device position and type of triaxis direction to detect gait events. This study proposes an effective heel-strike and toe-off detection algorithm using a smart insole with inertial measurement units. This method detects heel-strike and toe-off events through a time-frequency analysis by limiting the range. To assess its performance, gait data for seven healthy male subjects during walking and running were acquired. The proposed heel-strike and toe-off detection algorithm yielded the largest error of 0.03 seconds for running toe-off events, and an average of 0-0.01 seconds for other gait tests. Novel gait analyses could be conducted without suffering from space limitations because gait parameters such as the cadence, stance phase time, swing phase time, single-support time, and double-support time can all be estimated using the proposed heel-strike and toe-off detection algorithm.
