  • Through the development of phasor measurement units (PMU), various aspects of power system dynamic behavior could be monitored and diagnosed. Monitoring dynamic voltage stability has become one of the achievements we can obtain from PMUs. It is very important to select the most appropriate method for the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) system since there are many voltage stability indices. In this paper, we propose an advanced WAVI (Wide Area Voltage Stability) that is well suited for the purposes of monitoring the dynamic voltage stability of KEPCO's PMU installation plan. The salient features of the proposed index are: i) it uses only PMU measurements without coupling with EMS data; ii) it is computationally unburdened and can be applied to real-time situations. The proposed index is applied to the KEPCO test system and the results show that it successfully predicts voltage instability through comparative studies.

  • Since the Internet-based real-time Global Positioning System(GPS) synchronized widearea power system frequency monitoring network (FNET) was proposed in 2001, it has been monitoring the power system frequency in interconnected United States power systems and numerous interesting behaviors have been observed, including frequency excursion propagation. We address the consistency of a frequency excursion detection order of frequency disturbance recorders in FNET in relation to the same generation trip, as well as the ability to recreate by power systems dynamic simulation. We also propose a new method, as an application of FNET measurement, to locate a tripped generator using power systems dynamic simulation and wide-area frequency measurement. The simulation database of all the possible trips of generators in the interconnected power systems is created using the off-line power systems dynamic simulation. When FNET detects a sudden drop in the monitoring frequency, which is most likely due to a generation trip in power systems, the proposed algorithm locates a tripped generator by finding the best matching case of the measured frequency excursion in the simulation database in terms of the frequency drop detection order and the time of monitoring points.

  • This study selected Yangpyung as a target site because Yangpyung is a area of high value blessed with well preserved natural resources and beautiful natural scene and where thoughtless development and malformed use of land are in progress under the mask of hotel, accommodations and sales facility which fits the interests of land owner. As for the method used for this study, I inquired into domestic/international instances and the concept of existing environmental indicators and assessment of suitability with a view to establish assessment indicators and pose the concept through theoretical investigation of green-network and to establish green-network. 17 articles of environmental indicators such as aspect analysis, contour, greenbelt, DEM, NDVI, nature conservation area, reservoir and area for the promotion of agriculture were chosen as a actual analysing n data for setting up assessment indicators. From the result of analysis, as anticipated, green zone in Yongmusan areas within Youngmun and Seojong areas were the center of green-network in the wide area green-network in Yangpyung and the restricted area by basin system, road and legal regulation was selected as spot area and finally arable land and reservoir were selected as base which connects core with spot.

  • The rapid growth of IoT (Internet of Things) owing to the advancement and spread of technologies such as wireless networks, communication modules, sensors, smart terminals, etc. enables the development of new services in diverse public and private sectors. In particular, research on IoT technology and its applications has increased in the field of science. To establish an IoT infrastructure in this field, KREONET launched the wireless IoT network, called ScienceLoRa, based on low power wide area network (LPWAN). ScienceLoRa aims to collect a variety of data from sensors and utilize and analyze the collected data for research in a variety of scientific fields. In this article, the authors present the concept, current status, applications and future plans of ScienceLoRa.

  • At present, monitoring programmes for green network have been mainly based on field sampling, which relies on attributes of an area at one point in time, reflecting an emphasis on the small number of in-situ data. One of the major disadvantages of traditional field monitoring is that it is costly, laborious and time consuming due to the large number of samples required. The aim of this research was to evaluate green network based on pixel of Landsat TM satellite image. An empirical study for a case study site was conducted to demonstrate how a standard remote sensing technology can be used to assist in monitoring the green network based on pixel. The pixel-based analysis made it possible to identify area-wide patterns of green network subject to many different type of artificial structures, which cannot be acquired by traditional field sampling. It was demonstrated that the degradation trends of green network could be used effectively as an indicator to restrict further development of the sites since the quantitative data generated from remote sensing can present area-wide visual evidences by permanent record. It is anticipated that this research output could be used as a valuable reference to support more scientific and objective decision-making in monitoring green network.

  • In this paper, we're compared network protocol which is network lifetime longer when using LEACH Protocol, SEP, and TEEN in a heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Network with a Large Sensor Area. Also, we propose a method of divided layer the wide-area sensor filed and transmitting a multi-hop to improve the network lifetime. And we're compared network protocol which is network lifetime more improved apply the proposed method to LEACH Protocol, SEP, and TEEN. We tried to compare results, TEEN showed the best network lifetime. Apply the proposed method to divided the sensor field, L-TEEN (Layered TEEN)'s network lifetime rates of improvement is highest.

  • The exchange of information with legacy systems is a main issue in the era of SMARTGRID. Because WAMAC(Wide Area Monitoring and Control) system has monitoring function, as well as control function, it is very necessary for WAMAC to exchange data and information with SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) / EMS(Energy Management System). IEC 61970 CIM(Common Information Model) is an abstract model that represents all the major objects in an electric utility enterprise typically involved in utility operations. In this paper, a proposal that adopting CIM to WAMAC model be submitted so that the integration of various legacy system and application for itself be able to be flexible.

  • Currently, fine dust forecast models are operated by dividing the country into 19 regions. Therefore, it is important to reduce the learning time and the number of models as well as accurate forecast performance to operate lots of forecast models. In this paper, we develop a categorical wide area model that outputs forecast results categorically and integrates the regions with similar regional characteristics. The proposed model improved the convergence rate by 223 times compared to the existing model, which outputs at a single concentration value, and reduced the number of forecast models by a third.
