  • A study on the wear characteristics of the white metal(Sn-base alloy) bearing as a function of particle contamination level was conducted in order to establish control criteria of the lubricant in the 2-stroke marine diesel engine. Particle contamination level of the lubricants ranged from NAS 10 to 12 for the experiments. Bar-on-plate type wear test was performed using reciprocating wear tester. Based on this study it was found that there was no noticeable difference in weight loss of the white metal for NAS10 and NAS11(particle contamination level). Surface roughness of the white metal bearing after the wear test of 8hrs for the highly contaminated lubricant(NAS12 level) was up to $6{\mu}m$ in Rmax whilst that of the less contaminated lubricants(NAS10 & 11) was less than $1.5{\mu}m$ in Rmax.

  • Nowadays the thin-walled metal bearing, which is made seperately from the bearing housing and has the ratio of wall thickness/bearing diameter being less than 1/30, are used in many newly developed large-sized slow speed diesel engines for the purpose of upgarding lubication performance and easy maintenance according to the trends of increasing output per cylinder and lowering engine speed. The type of this bearing has been used generally in many small-sized high speed engines applied for automobile, high speed craft and industrial power generation systems since 1950s. But the tranditional thick-walled bearings, whice are linned white metal on the bearing housing directly, have been installed on the large and slow speed engines until 1990s due to the easy manufacturing procedures. In this study we have calculated optimum dimensions of the metal bearing, fabricated special zigs for crush measurement, model test machine, 2 sets of specimens.(crosshead pin bearing, $\phi$818*552*20mm) for B & W 6S70MC(20, 940*88rpm), and evaluated metal constact phenomena of white metal, its friction coefficient, temparature rise through the model test and field performance test.

  • Metal Bearing's research that use the clad steel had led in advanced country. Metal Bearing that is produced by domestic companies is ship, vehicles, development equipment and plant equipment. This is Cast White Metal Lining Bearing that is Bimetal Bearing standing 2 generation. Cast White Metal Lining Bearing is foreseen to be used widely on industry whole in the future. Cast White Metal Bearing is product that need precision processing. But the technique is generalized widely. So an advanced country is depending on import from a developing country that price is cheaper than itself manufacture. it is judged that high added value creation by deepening of price competition is difficult. Therefore need product development of new form and is changing to Trimetal Bearing parts. Trimetal Bearing is high quality technique that do compression junction to thin plates of special object on the Back Metal. Therefore, this research developed Trimetal bearing's materials.

  • LED lamp was designed by the serial-parallel integration of LED chips in metal-interconnection. The 7 $4.5{\times}4.5\;in^{2}$ masks were designed with the contact type of chrome-no mirror?dark. The white epitaxial thin film was grown by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. The active layers were consisted with the serial order of multi-quantum wells for blue, green and red lights. The fabricated LED chip showed the electroluminescence peaked at 450, 560 and 600 nm. For the current injection of 20 mA, the operating voltage was measured to 4.25 V and the optical emission power was obtained to 0.7 $\mu$W.

국산 침엽수 철물접합부의 인장하중 특성 (Tensile Properties of Metal Plate Connector in Domestic Softwood Lumber)

  • 국산 주요 침엽수재인 소나무, 잣나무, 낙엽송의 철물접합부 인장하중 특성 구명을 위하여 본 연구를 수행하였다. 철물 접합부의 최대 인장하중은 AA형의 경우 소나무가 3,612 kgf로 낙엽송, 잣나무에 비해 각각 1.2배, 1.7배, EA형의 경우 2,704 kgf로 1.1배, 1.5배 우수하였다. 또한 AA형은 EA형에 비해 3 수종 모두 약 1.2배 이상 높은 인장하중을 나타내었다. 철물접합부의 파괴모드는 주로 이의 빠짐, 철물의 인장파괴와 목재의 전단파괴로 이루어지며, 특히 소나무 접합부는 철물의 인장파괴를 나타내었다. 철물접합부재의 인장하중-변위 특성은 Foschi 모형으로 정확하게 추정할 수 있었으며, 철물접합부의 초기강성은 소나무 접합부재가 높게 나타났다. 국산 침엽수재의 철물접합부에 대한 설계하중은 소나무, 낙엽송, 잣나무의 순으로 높게 나타났으며, AA형의 경우 이당 설계하중이 소나무 25 kgf, 낙엽송 22 kgf, 잣나무 15 kgf이었으며, EA형의 경우 소나무 19 kgf, 낙엽송 17 kgf, 잣나무 13 kgf 이었다.

점토광물에 의한 중금속 흡착 특성 (Properties of Heavy Metal Adsorption of Clay Minerals)

  • 폐기물 함유 세라믹 재료의 성형과정에서 일차적인 중금속의 안정화를 알아보기 위하여 중금속(Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Pb, Zn) 표준용액의 농도를 각각 5, 10, 15, 20ppm으로 조절하여 점토, 백토와 제올라이트에 대해 회분식 흡착실험을 행하였다. 중금속 표준용액의 농도가 증가할수록 모든 시료에서 중금속 흡착률은 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 점토와 백토는 Cr을 제외한 모든 중금속에서 평균 80% 이상의 흡착률을 보였고, Fe와 Pb에서는 99% 이상의 우수한 흡착률을 보였다 점토와 백토를 혼합한 경우, Cr에 대한 흡착률이 점토와 백토에 비해 우수하였으나 Zn에 대한 흡착률은 상대적으로 작았다. Cr, Zn은 다른 중금속에 비해 낮은 중금속 흡착률을 보이는데, 이것은 낮은 pH에서 용액 내 수소이온과 이온교환경쟁을 벌이기 때문인 것으로 사료된다.

점진적 성형 기술을 이용한 자동차 차체 모형 제품의 제작 (Application of Incremental Sheet Metal Forming for Automotive Body-In-White Manufacturing)

  • Recently incremental sheet metal forming (ISF) has used widely in making prototypes and small-volume products in automotive industry etc. We apply the ISF to make a 1/4 sized automobile body-in-white. First, ISF tests for rectangular shaped cup have been performed to clarify the formability denoting the relationship between the component wall angle and maximum cup height of safe forming. Next, a CAD model for the automobile was designed and segmented into several components in order to accommodate the working space of the CNC machine we adopted and the formability of the sheet metal. Then, a CAM software was employed to generate the tool path for manufacturing wooden dies and all the small parts. Finally, the different parts were joined into a single component by laser welding after the ISF process. By using the ISF we successfully produced the 1/4 sized automobile body-in-white.

  • 국립중앙박물관에 소장되어 있는 신안 해저 출토 유물인 경덕진 백자 중'복소법(覆燒法)'으로 제작되어 구연부에 유약이 시유되지 않은 부분에 금속 테두리(金屬釦)를 덧씌운 '청백자인각화훼문은구완' 4점과 '백자은구대접' 1점에 대해 구연에 주사전자현미경(SEM)으로 단면과 미세 구조를 관찰하였고, 성분 분석은 에너지분산형분석기(EDS)의 반사전자상(BEI)으로 측정한 결과, 금속 테두리는 은(銀)이 아닌 주석 재질임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 구연부에 금속 테두리를 접합 방법을 알아 보기 위해 퓨리어변환 적외선 분석기(FT-IR)로 조사해 본 결과, 접합 재료는 옻 성분을 사용하여 고정하였음을 알 수 있었다.
