In this paper, the influence of the table speed, metal removal rate and grinding fluid on long wheel workpiece contact zone at high effect grinding was investigated by theoretical analyses and measuring the temperature, and discussed by the temperature distribution in grinding surface layer. Main results obtained are as follows, 1) Rega.dless of the table speed, the temperature gap of the workpiece(heat influx) is about 6-8 times as high in dry condition as in wet condition. 2) Good grinding condition can be obtained owing to the effect of grinding fluid without any burning defect under the condition of the metal removal rate(1.0mm$^3$/mm.s) in case of wet grinding. 3) When the depth from the surface layer is about 1.25-1.5mm under the condition of the slow table speed, surface temperature goes up higher as the table speed slows down, because long contact time is laked at the surface layer. 4) In case of the same metal removal rate, the lower the table speed becomes, the higher the surface temperature is, because grinding depth has a far more influence on wheel workpiece contact zone than the table speed.
In process of water removing safely from plastic clay, an electric field applied to a wet, porous solid such as day usually causes the rapid dehydration. The water-bearing positive ions move to negative electrode under the d. c. electrical stress or field. Therefore application of electro-osmosis to wet clay could include drying thick and large-scale ceramic body quickly and evenly. The d. c. power supply unit to 60 volts is necessary for safe practice. Also wider contact area and shorter distance between electrodes accelerate effectively the removal of water.

In this study, we report on the catalyst process installed in conjunction with a wet plasma electrostatic precipitator to remove the oil mist and fine dust emitted from large-size grill restaurants. The multi-stage catalyst module reduced odor through catalytic reaction of acetaldehyde on catalysts even at an ambient temperature with ozone as an oxidant readily produced in a wet plasma electrostatic precipitator. Two types of manganese-based catalysts, $Mn_2O_3$ and $CuMnO_x$ were fabricated by extrusion molding for structured catalysts in practical applications, and the optimum conditions for high removal efficiencies of acetaldehyde and ozone were determined. When two optimized catalysts were applied in a two-stage catalyst module, the removal efficiency of acetaldehyde and ozone were ${\geq}85%$ and 100% respectively at the space velocity of $10,000h^{-1}$ and the reaction temperature of $100^{\circ}C$.

This study evaluates a cleaning method to maintain and minimize the change of blood soil for the selective removal of stains from textiles with historical significance and special meaning. Cotton and silk fabrics were soiled with blood, aged artificially and then washed by wet cleaning or dry cleaning (water, nonionic surfactant; Triton, natural surfactant; saponin, organic solvent; n-Decane). The washed fabrics were stored at room temperature for four years. The change of the blood soil was evaluated by SEM, weight, thickness, and color differences. Subsequently, the shape and the amount of blood adsorption on the fabric varied depending on fiber type and fabric structure characteristics; in addition, long term storage affected changes to blood soil. It was difficult to remove artificially aged blood soil from fabrics by wet or dry cleaning. However, the changes of the blood soil by these cleanings can be explained by the changes on SEM, weight, thickness and fabric color. The changes (especially color) showed over time. Wet cleaning showed that the changes of those factors were slightly lower than those by dry cleaning.
The present study was aimed at evaluating the effect of variable sodium carbonate ($Na_2CO_3$) loading during wet air oxidation (WAO) pretreatment of rice straw in reducing biomass recalcitrance. The research study was intended to increase the cellulose recovery, hemicellulose solubilization, lignin removal in the solid fraction and limiting the generation of inhibitors in the liquid fraction while reducing the chemical input. The operating condition of $169^{\circ}C$, 4 bar, 18 min and 6.5 g/L $Na_2CO_3$ loading resulted in maximum cellulose recovery of 82.07% and hemicellulose solubilization and lignin removal of 85.43% and 65.42%, respectively, with a total phenolic content of 0.36 g/L in the liquid fraction. The crystallinity index increased from 47.69 to 51.25 along with enzymatic digestibility with an increase in $Na_2CO_3$ loading from 0 to 6.5 g/L as a result of removal of barriers for saccharification via effective cleavage of ether and ester bonds cross-linking the carbohydrates and lignin as indicated by FT-IR spectroscopy. A further increase in the $Na_2CO_3$ loading to 9.5 g/L did not significantly increase the sugar release. Thus, it was concluded that 6.5 g/L $Na_2CO_3$ during WAO is sufficient to increase the delignification and deacetylation, leading to significant changes in apparent cellulose crystallinity inter alia improvement in cellulose accessibility and digestibility of rice straw.
Series of study were conducted to investigated the condition of wet polishing and quality of wet polished rice. The optimal condition for wet polishing was determined to be 0.5% added water after removal bran layer of 95% by normal milling. Its polishing yield was 0.75% lower than normal polishing, and the moisture content of wet and normal polished rice was the same, but the whiteness of wet polished rice was higher by 3.5% than that of normal polished rice and the lightness was very good. The total solid as washing wet polished rice in water and the total solid in residual liquid of cooked wet polished rice was about 0.30 and 2% lower than those of normal polished rice, respectively. The storability of wet polished rice was better than that of normal polished rice.
The treatment of a model wastewater containing high concentration, 10 $g/{\ell}$, of phenol in an integrated wet oxidation-aerobic biological treatment was investigated. Partial wet oxidation under mild operating conditions was capable of converting the original phenol to biodegradable organic acids such as maleic acid, formic acid and acetic acid, the solution of which was subjected to the subsequent aerobic biological treatment. The wet oxidation was carried out at 150$^{\circ}C$ and 200$^{\circ}C$ and the initial pH of 1 to 12. The high temperature of 200$^{\circ}C$ and the acidic initial condition in the wet oxidation led to effluents of which biodegradability was higher in the subsequent biological oxidation process, as assessed by chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal. Homogeneous catalyst of $CuSO_4$ was also used for increasing the oxidation rate in the wet oxidation at 150$^{\circ}C$ and initial pH of 3.0. However, the pretreatment with the catalytic wet oxidation resulted in effluents which were less biodegradable in the aerobic biological process compared to those out of the non-catalytic wet oxidation at the same operating conditions.

The application of conifer leave to the papermaking process as a functional organic filler was investigated in this study. The powder of the conifer leave after hot water extraction for the functional extract, such as phytoncide, was applied to OCC stock. The comparison between the commercial wood flour and the conifer leave powder as organic filler for OCC paper were conducted with various wet pressing conditions. The amount of the water removal by the wet pressing process and the bulk of handsheet were increased by the addition of the wood flour and the conifer leave powder, although the tensile strength was decreased. At the higher pressure condition of the wet pressing, the wet pressing efficiency was greatly increased by the wood flour and the conifer leave powder. There was a little difference in the performance of the wood flour and the conifer leave powder as an organic filler. Those results showed the conifer leave powder could be an alternative resource to the wood powder for papermaking organic filler.

It prepared the $TiO_2$ powder which has photo-catalytic activity in the visible-light by the wet process with titanium oxysulfate. The titanium $dioxide(TiO_2)$ by the wet process creates a new absorption band in the visible light region, and is expected to create photocatalytic activity in this region. Anatase $TiO_2$ powder which has photocatalytic activity in the visible light region, is treated using microwave and radio-frequency(RF) plasma. But, the $TiO_2$ powder for the visible light region, which also can be easily produced by wet process. The wet process $TiO_2$ absorbed visible light between 400nm and 600nm, and showed a high activity in this region, as measured by the oxidation removal of aceton from the gas phase. The AH-380 sample appears the yellow color to be strong, the catalytic activity in the visible ray was excellent in comparison with the plasma-treated $TiO_2$. The AH-380 $TiO_2$ powder, which can be easily produced on a large scale, is expected to have higher efficiency in utilizing solar energy than the plasma-treated $TiO_2$ powder.

Wet scavenging by rain drops is a most important removal process of air pollutants. In order to study the scavenging mechanisms of aerosol particles, the characteristics of chemical components in the rain water were examined as a function of the amount of rainfall. Rain water were collected continuously and separated into the soluble and insoluble components. The elemental concentrations in both components were determined by a PIXE analysis. The physical and chemical characteristics of atmospheric aerosols during the rainfall events were measured simultaneously. The elemental concentrations in rain water decreased substantially just after rain started and then gradually declined in subsequential rain fall exceeding 1.0 mm. The large particles were scavenged more easily than the fine particles. Fe, Ti and Si in rain water were in high insoluble state. Contrarily, almost whole of S was dissolved in rain water.
