  • The purpose of this study was to review the origin and background of well-being, the emerging well-being culture, and the phenomenon and features of the hair beauty affected by it. For this purpose, the researcher reviewed dissertations written between 199a and 2002, copies of the beauty journal Short Hair published between 2002 and 2003, beauty newspapers published between March, 2003 and June, 2004, and relevant Internet sites. When we review the well-being hair style tendency, we may be reminded of a light shaggy cut style with a thick wave volume or a natural wave highlighted, or a natural style with a natural color rendered by the braid technique. The well-being hair styles may be inspired by such natural images as the earth, sand, rock, wind, feather and flowers, while using cut, permanent wave or coloring technique for the hairs, in order to create new hair styles. The goal is to make men in contact with the nature. Meanwhile, as people are more concerned about diverse hair textures, natural and healthy hairs, they want their hairs to look comfortable and active rather than luxurious. The well-being cut styles may be categorized into cut style highlighting healthy hairs with a Bobos luxury and soft and light stroke cut reminiscent of a Bohemian freedom. The well-being permanent style may be divided into thick wave, natural wave, and the permanent style using a strong wave to make hairs look bloated. The hair colors reminding us of some natural images are used to highlight a well-being image. In addition, the concept of well-being pursuing a happy and healthy life has been being introduced into the permanent wave material liquids; such liquids made from natural materials, fruits or herbs increase, while environmental-friendly liquids or materials are used more for healthy hairs. The reason why the well-being culture influences hair styles importantly may be that people's desire of healthy body and mind and a comfortable life is reflected in hair styles. In conclusion, as the hair styles or an index for a new cultural current in our modern age are influenced by the well-being phenomenon, more and more people will put priority on healthy hairs. So, it is deemed necessary to apply the well-being hair styles appropriately to render satisfactory hair styles.

  • For decades, the pursuit of volume commercialization of low-power reflective displays with a paper-like look has been an unfulfilled dream. While steady technical progress was made throughout the late 1990s, there were still no volume products incorporating electronic paper displays (EPD) on the market. Now, microencapsulated electrophoretic display technology, also called electronic ink, has moved into volume production with a frontplane laminate (FPL) display component called E Ink Imaging Film™. This film is coated roll to roll on a flexible plastic substrate and integrated into a display module. Today, all-plastic segmented displays are being shipped as well as displays with electronic ink FPL being driven by glass TFT backplanes. A roadmap to active matrix flexible electrophoretic displays is being enabled by rapid technical progress on flexible TFT backplanes by a variety companies. Each of the approaches to these backplanes and flexible active matrix displays has different advantages for the various market segments being pursued including large format flexible displays for e-news and other reader applications, rollable displays for compact readers, and high resolution small format displays up to 400 ppi that can have fully integrated drive electronics to reduce size and drive down costs. Backplane approaches include Si on plastic, organic transistors on plastic, and Si transistors on flexible stainless steel substrate. Progress is also being made on next generation inks, including more reflective inks with higher contrast ratios. A full color 6 inch, 170 pixel per inch (PPI) active matrix display using a newer generation ink has been developed and this will be described and demonstrated. Large format segmented flexible displays will also be described.

  • Perceived meaning of color uniquely forms and is being highlighted as an element of creative design in the modern design industry as well as traditional culture. It is necessary to compare the perceived meanings of color and clothing color of Korea and Japan in order to find out the model of Korea's original color. The purpose of this study Is to draw the results of examining the perceived meanings of color revealed in the culture, arts and clothing color of the both countries and comparing them depending on contemporary times. The scope of study is limited from the ancient times to modern times (about BC.IC-early20C). In the methodologies, the literature and the empirical study focus on both counturies' literature, including art history, ethnology, and the history of clothing; and their paintings and relics, which are all related to clothes. The perceived meaning of color of Korea was prominent with the beauty of nature and gorgeousness throughout the history. The colors were mostly white colors, light colors, and single colors such as obangsaek, which are high pure degree colors by which color is changed depending on darkness and lightness, while that of Japan featured clothing colors combining various colors and middle colors.

EFFECTS OF FIELD PRODUCTIVITY, VARIETY AND NITROGEN RATE ON THE YIELD, QUALITY AND PHYSICO-CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BURLEY TOBACCO (버어리종 잎담배의 수량, 품질 및 이화학성에 미치는 포지비옥도, 품종 및 질소시용량의 영향)

  • A field experiment was conducted to find out the effects of field productivity, variety and nitrogen rate on the yield, quality, chemical constituents and physical properties of burley cured leaf in three field with different productivity(Degree of field productivity: A ; high, B ; medium, C : low) during successive two years(1988~89). The yield and quality were remarkably lowered when nitrogen fertilizer being applied much in low productive field. As compared with Burley 21, KB101 showed high yield, particularly the yield of KB101 in low productive field was relatively high. The effect of nitrogen rate on the yield was somewhat different according to field productivity and production year. When the nitrogen fertilizer being applied above 22.5kg/10a, the added nitrogen had no effect on the yield. Total nitrogen content of cured leaf grown in low productive field was high while total alkaloid was low, therefore total alkaloid/total nitrogen ratio was remarkably low. The lightness, red and yellow color of cured leaf grown in low productive field was remarkably low. As compared with Burley 21, the contents of total alkaloid and total nitrogen and shatter resistance index of cured leaf was somewhat low, while the filling power, lightness, red and yellow color were slightly high. Total nitrogen content of cured leaf was increased remarkably by nitrogen addition, but total alkaloid was not increased though the nitrogen fertilizer being applied above 22.5kg/10a. The filling power and shatter resistance index of cured leaf grown in high nitrogen plot, and the lightness and yellow color were low while the red color was relatively high. It comes into question that the visual quality being increased as well as increment of yield and nitrogenous compounds by nitrogen addition in high productive field. In low productive field, it is considerable that nitrogen addition for high yield should be prohibited because it causes the decrement of yield and quality, on the contrary.

  • The objective of this field research is to determine consumer's fashion sense and provide helpful information to manufacturers when planning designs and merchandizing strategies. This study's purpose was to observe what was being worn, colors and tones. The method of research was fixed point observation using digital photos. The subjects of the research were female college students, 18-22 years old. The T-shirt has become the representative item for casual and comfortable wear by the female college students. Pants and blue jeans were worn more often than skirts as a lower garment. This shows that the students think about their activities when choosing a lower garment. The majority of these students chose clothing that functioned well for their school activities. Among students that wore skirts about half wore a functional knee length while the other half wore a more fashionable mini-skirt. These students appear to care about both fashion and function. Blue was especially popular, with 70.4% of all lower garments being blue. This effect makes the body look thinner and may be one reason why blue is so popular. White is a popular color as an upper garment. White upper garments are easily matched with any color, while blue upper garments coordinate well with similarly colored blue lower garments. The distribution of upper garment color is significantly influenced by the seasons. Blue jean tones were many and varied, while upper garments were mostly weak tones and bright tones of pale, light and soft.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the formative beauty of metro sexual expressed on the 21C men's fashion. in 21C, metro sexual is being accepted as an object to lead the world consumption culture, and it is said to be most appropriate to the definition as a model that can determine the most modern men. Moreover, with well being life style, it shows characteristic that expresses chic sense through fashion. The results of the study were as below. 1. In recent men's wear, sensory feminine that looks young and trendy is being presented through clothes, rather than the image of men who are strong. Therefore, by wearing splendid flower print, bold color and gorgeous accessories, men send off their attractions. 2. The recent body king syndrome gave new aesthetic value on men's body. Therefore, men's body is becoming cultural icon of metro sexual as another face that shows social status and cultural taste. 3. The men's image of metro sexual that is felt from softer skin and hair than women, and well-built body is appealing more through body conscious look. Here, men's body silhouette is being sublimated aesthetically through design with various materials such as see-through and leather etc., and this is body conscious image that can be seen only in metro sexual. Like this, metro sexual fashion sense was expressed by feminine softness sometimes, and beautiful body silhouette sometimes by expressing one's sexiness enough, being away' from conceptual masculine. Therefore, the appearance of metro sexual can be understood that men's body exposure is becoming a social virtue that expresses beauty.

  • The visual sensory information in physical environments can induce or reduce occupants' stress. In healthcare settings, positive environmental stimulations can promote patient well-being by reducing their stress: poor health environments work against a patient's health. Changing the color in a patient room is an inexpensive process and thus finding better colors for healthcare settings is a cost effective method of improving healing environments. Color may have important implications for pediatric patients, but the investigation of Korean populations has been non-existent. The purpose of this study was to investigate Korean pediatric patients' color preferences for patient room design. The color preferences from 50 Korean pediatric patients were recorded and investigated for gender effects. A simulation method was used because of its reliability and feasibility, allowing for investigating the value of color in real contexts and controlling confounding variables. The overall color preferences from Korean pediatric patients showed that they preferred blue the most and white the least. Gender differences were found in red and purple. Girls preferred red and purple more than boys. The results from this study can help healthcare providers and designers better understand appropriate colors for Korean pediatric patient populations.

  • The quick-response (QR) code is a two-dimensional barcode which is widely being used. Due to several interesting features such as small code size, high error correction capabilities, easy code generation and reading process, the QR codes are used in many applications. Nowadays, a printed color QR code for offline applications is being studied to improve the information storage capacity. By multiplexing color information into the conventional black-white QR code, the storage capacity is increased, however, it is hard to extract the embedded information due to the color crosstalk and geometrical distortion. In this paper, to overcome these problems, a new type of QR code is designed based on the CMYK color model and the local spatial searching as well as the global spatial matching is introduced in the reading process. These results in the recognition rate increase. Through practical experiments, it is shown that the proposed algorithm can perform the bit recognition rate improvement of about 3% to 5%.

  • This study examind the product quality characteristics and industrial application of arrowroot powder added Yanggaeng before its industrial application. Several preliminary experiments were conducted by applying manufacturing conditions and varying the amount of arrowroot powder(1%, 2%, 3%, 4%) added to produce Yanggaeng recipes that can be sold commercially. The moisture content of the produce Yanggaeng was low due to the manufacturing standards, but it showed a significant increase with an increase in the ratio, which was similar to the results of other studies on Yanggaeng. The solubility, particale size distribution, and pH also showed a significant increasing trend. The hardness of arrowroot powder added Yanggaeng decreased with an increase in the amount of arrowroot powder, while springiness, gumminess, and chewiness increased with the addition of arrowroot powder. In terms of color, arrowroot powder showed a dark color, which was well suited to white bean paste and could also be used with black bean paste without any problem. These results were due to the manufacturing ratio being adjusted to meet commercial sales standards, resulting in a lower amount of water being used, and the characteristics of arrowroot powder being applied as they were.
