  • The reaction path of water-gneiss in 200m borehole at the Soorichi site of Yugu Myeon, Chungnam was simulated by the EQ3NR/EQ6 program. Mineral composition of borehole core and fracture-filling minerals, and chemical composition of groundwater was published by authors. In this study, chemical evolution of groundwater and formation of secondary minerals in water-gneiss system was modelled on the basis of published results. The surface water was used as a starting solution for reaction. Input parameters for modelling such as mineral assemblage and their volume percent, chemical composition of mineral phases, water/rock ratio reactive surface area, dissolution rates of mineral phases were determined by experimental measurement and model fit. EQ6 modelling of the reaction path in water-gneiss system has been carried out by a flow-centered flow through open system which can be considered as a suitable option for fracture flow of groundwater. The modelling results show that reaction time of 133 years is required to reach equilibrium state in water-gneiss system, and evolution of present groundwater will continue to pH 9.45 and higher na ion concentration. The secondary minerals formed from equeous phase are kaolinite, smectite, saponite, muscovite, mesolite, celadonite, microcline and calcite with uincreasing time. Modeling results are comparatively well fitted to pH and chemical composition of borehole groudwater, secondary minerals identified and tritium age of groundwater. The EQ6 modelling results are dependent on reliability of input parameters: water-rock ratio, effective reaction surface area and dissolution rates of mineral phases, which are difficult parameters to be measured.

  • This study is aimed at examination and analysis of current status of university library's line and staff organization especially the private university's. Motivation for this study is based on the following facts : First, the library work now is changing from the conventional one to automated one. Second, librarians in the front line must be trained in the newly set work because of the separation of work process in automated libraries. Methodologies of this study, apart from theoretical aspects, were visiting and interviewing librarians at 30 university libraries, examining the current status and problems of the line and staff organization of the university libraries. The result from the study is as follows: First, interviewing reveals that 35% of the 75 private university library is having 'associate directorship by librarian' system. Benefits from this system are described, recommending other University libraries adopt this system. This system su n.0, pplements the weak point of concurrent director's office of lay professor, as well as encourages librarian's morale by promotion. Second, the current organization of the university libraries are to be reformed. Namely, 1) the name of each division must be newly and a n.0, ppropriately set of changed suiting for the work of automated library, thus reforming the division. This must be conducted via collection of opinions of the Korean Library and Information Science Society' and associated organizations. 2) Newly formed division(for example, administrative division or division of operation and management, division conducting digital library work, etc.) must be added to the line and staff organization. 3) For information service division, there must be a certain number of subject specialists. 4) Status of the directorship of university library, librarianship, issue of renaming of university library are also described.

  • Paleomagnetic study is carried out to investigate the possibility of remagnetization by dikes in the Cretaceous Gyeongsang Basin. We selected a site for a contact test as a preliminary study, and collected 41 core samples (7 from andesitic dike, 17 from sedimentary rock on the left side of dike and 17 from sedimentary rock on the right side). Magnetite was responsible for the remagnetization based on microscopic observation and demagnetization analysis. Although the increasement of magnetic susceptibility appears on both sides about 100 cm from the dike, the increment of NRM intensity was obtained from the specimens on the left side only. This is interpreted that the size of magnetite newly formed is dominated by superparamagnetic grains in the right side, but by larger than single-domain grains in the left. Reversed polarity component remagnetized by intrusion of dike was also found only for core samples from 116 cm left side of dike but abscent from right side indicating the remagnetization by the dike depends on the geometric shape and width of the dike, which is supported by field observations. The content of epidote is well correlated with remagnetization, and indicates the hydrothermal alteration/metameorphism was activated by the intrusion. We concluded that the above evidences in this study further support thermally-activated chemical origin of the remagnetization with meager contribution of contact metamorphism, and that any significant evidence of regional-scaled remagnetization was not found in the study area.

  • Draft ice in polar regions is formed due to sea level changes and various environmental factors cause damage due to collision with offshore plants and ships for resource development. Drift ice in polar regions is a potential source of accidents for offshore plants that perform long-term operations in one place, as well as on the ship. To prevent accidents with drift ice, offshore plants and ships in polar regions use satellite image information and detection radar to detect drift ice. However, the inability to use visible satellite images at night significantly lowers the detection probability by radar for small drift ice. In this study, we used a thermal imaging system which can be operated day and night for the detection of drift ice, and carried out an experimental study on the detection characteristics of drift ice. To examine the night operation of the thermal imaging system, the experimental condition was set and the thermal image was measured according to the measurement angle change. Under this condition, the correlation was analyzed by theoretical calculating the radiant energy of the drift ice and the sea water.

  • The education system is the communication field should be based on the characteristics of communication science and the function of manpower. However, the current education system at the level of college is insufficient and irrational to meet the requirements of the telecommunication field in our country. The main reasons are as follows: 1. Misunderstanding the characteristics of communication science. 2. Indiscretion of the categories of communication manpower due to lack of coordination between academic circles and communication industrial field. Telecommunication function could be performed only by combining the engineering and the suitable operational control. The communication engineering is similar to the electronic engineering, but the former should follow the miscellaneous international protocol and the domestic regulations, being only a means for the telecommunication function. In order to improve the education system of communiation, we aim to identify the principle of communication science, orthodoxy of the education, the categories of communication industrial field and manpower. The present system has been formed on the basis of ignoring the attributes of manpower and historical background of communication science. Therefore, this paper proposes to set up new departmental organizations for educating communication manpower as the following: In addition, this paper proposes a new curriculum model of the above twodept, and we believe that it well turn out more scientific, effective and reasonable education for the communication science. 1. Modification of the present formation, designated Electronic Communication Department. 2. New formation model: A. The best future model such as establishing ad independent telecommunication college which is composed of : Dept. of Radiocommunication Dept. of Telecommunication Enginnering Dept. of Communication Industrial management Dept. of Transmission Engineering Dept. of Telecommunication Law B. An immediately practicable proposal model instead of the existin Dept.. which is composed of the first two Dept. of the above five Dept. In addition, this paper proposes a new curriculum model of the above two dept. and we believe that it will turn out the education for the communication science to be more scientific, effective and reasonable.

  • The purpose of this study is to describe specific system manifestations and suggested nursing interventions in patients with lupus. Lupus is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystemic disorder of the immune system. Antibodies are formed which react against the person's own normal tissue. This abnormal response can be very damaging and leads to the many manifestations of the lupus. Lupus can affect any part of the body, and patients experience symptoms in organs involved. So lupus patients have integumentary, blood, central nervous system, eye, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, kidney, heart and lining membranes, reproductive system involvement. The courses are unpredictable and very individualized. Lupus varies greatly in severity from mild cases requiring minimal interventions to those in which significant damage occurs to vital organs such as the lungs, heart, kidney and brain which ultimately can be fatal. In addition to direct physical care, the nursing professional has an excellent position from which to support the lupus patient. Patients need assistance with receiving current, accurate information about the disease process and also to be helped in developing realistic expectations and goals. Nursing interventions for the patient with lupus is challenge drawing on at the resources, knowledge and strengths the nursing teams have to offer. Because of the unpredictable, highly individualized and frequently changing the nature of the disease itself as well as the intricacy of the patient's needs. The nurse has a key role in its management. The patient and nurse, working together, have much to offer each other. These are of inestimable value to the patient. As the nurse listens to the patient and learns what problems the patient perceives, can guide the patient in a self-help program that allows to adapt to living with a chronic illness.

  • Frequency reuse among relay stations (RSs) in a down-link access zone is widely adopted for throughput enhancement in IEEE 802.16j relay networks. Since the areas covered by the RSs or the base station (BS) may overlap, some mobile stations (MSs) at the border between two neighboring transmitting stations (RS or BS) using an identical frequency band may suffer severe interference or outage. This co-channel interference within the cell degrades the quality of service (QoS) fairness among the MSs as well as the system throughput. Exclusive use of a frequency band division (orthogonal resource allocation) among RSs can solve this problem but would cause degradation of the system throughput. We observe a trade-off between system throughput and QoS fairness in the previously reported schemes based on frequency reuse. In this paper, we propose a new frequency reuse scheme that achieves high system throughput with a high fairness level in QoS, positioning our scheme far above the trade-off curve formed by previous schemes. We claim that our scheme is beneficial for applications in which a high QoS level is required even for the MSs at the border. Exploiting the features of a directional antenna in the BS, we create a new zone in the frame structure. In the new zone, the RSs can serve the subordinate MSs at the border and prone to interference. In a 3-RS topology, where the RSs are located at points $120^{\circ}$ apart from one another, the throughput and Jain fairness index are 10.64 Mbps and 0.62, respectively. On the other hand, the throughput for the previously reported overlapped and orthogonal allocation schemes is 8.22 Mbps (fairness: 0.48) and 3.99 Mbps (fairness: 0.80), respectively. For a 6-RS topology, our scheme achieves a throughput of 18.38 Mbps with a fairness of 0.68; however, previous schemes with frequency reuse factors of 1, 2, 3, and 6 achieve a throughput of 15.24 Mbps (fairness: 0.53), 12.42 Mbps (fairness: 0.71),8.84 Mbps (fairness: 0.88), and 4.57 Mbps (fairness: 0.88), respectively.

  • In this paper, we studied how the data obesity can affect in which the response speed of database gradually slows down. Our research is performed by analyzing how the game data infrastructure is well-formed. Although there are a variety of ways to evaluate to measure the level of infrastructure, we performed with real information system. We analyzed data obesity by comparing the entity-relationship models between the products of real game information system and newly modeled databases. We could find data obesity is over 60% among overall average of game information system. It shows that 45% higher than standard obesity which is 15%. In this paper, data redundancy rate after performing the procedure of the data modeling was 41% resulting in an improvement of 23% compared to 64% of an existing model.

  • A topic map was designed as an efficient information retrieval method that is optimized for classification, organization, and navigation through the use of a semantic link network above information resources. With this, this study aims to design a topic map-based university archives retrieval system to provide the relevant information retrieval. For this study, electronic records that relate to the academic administration within two years of D university were collected, and topic map editing was carried out with Ontopia Omnigator. Topics were classified according to their functional analysis of academic administration. In the end, the number of topics was finalized as 626, with 6 types in general: academic work, staff, college register, student, university, etc. Association was separated into six types as well, which were formed with consideration to the relationships among topics. In addition, there are seven occurrence types: register class, register number, register date, receiver, title, creator, and identifier. It is expected that the associative nature of the designed topic map-based retrieval system in this study will make navigation of large records easy and allow incidental discovery of knowledge.

  • Computational thermodynamics for various alloy systems is well known as the CALPHAD technique. Gibbs energy model parameters for each phase are obtained from experimentally measured thermodynamic properties and are mainly used to predict areas not experimentally measured and to analyze experimental results thermodynamically. In this study, the thermodynamic modeling of the Ni-Cr-Nb-C quaternary system is conducted for a thermodynamic analysis of the phenomena by which heat-resistant cast alloys (IN-657) are destroyed in certain areas after long-term use. The stable phases in the system according to the Cr content, phase fraction depending on the temperature, and long-range ordering parameters for the Ni2Cr phase are calculated and compared to results obtained experimentally. The calculated thermodynamic properties suitably explain the experimentally reported fracture temperature range and the results of stable phases formed in the fractured areas. Thermodynamic modeling through the CALPHD method is expected to be useful for analyzing and predicting the thermodynamic behaviors of various cast alloys.
