Fillet welded joints, specially in ship structure, are well known the critical part where stress concentrate or crack initiates and grows. This paper is concerned with the study of the behavior of fatigue crack growth t the root and toe of load carrying cruciform fillet welded joints under three points bending by the determination of stress intensity factor from the J-Integral, using the Finite Element Method. The stress intensity factor was investigated in accordance to the variation of the weld size (H/Tp). weld penetration (a/W) and plate thickness (2a'/Tp). As mixed mode is occurred on account of shearing force under the three points bending, Stern's reciprocal theory is applied to confirm which mode is the major one. The main results may be summarized as follows 1) The calculation formula of the stress intensity factor at the both of root and toe of the joint was obtained to estimate the stress intensity factor in the arbitrary case. 2) The change of stress field around crack tip gives much influence on each other at the roof and toe as H/Tp decreases. 3) Mode I is a major mode under the three points bending.

In the fossil power plant, the reliability of the components which consist of the many welded parts depends on the quality of welding. The residual stress is occurred by the heat flux of high temperature during weld process. This decreases the mechanical properties as the strength of fatigue and fracture or causes the stress corrosion cracking and fatigue fracture. Especially, the accidents due to the residual stress occurred at the weld parts of high-temperature and high-pressure pipes and steam headers. Also, the residual stress of the welded part in the recently constructed power plants has been brought into relief as the cause of various accidents. The aim of this study is the measurement of the residual stress using the x-ray diffraction method. The merits of this are more accurate and applicable than other methods. The materials used for the study is P92 steel for the use of high temperature pipe on super critical condition. The variables of tests are the post-weld heat treatment, the surface roughness and the depth from the original surface. The test results were analyzed by the distributed characteristics of the full width at half maximum intensity (FWHM) in x-ray diffraction intensity curve and by the relation of hardness with FWHM.
The rail temperature is important to preserve the joint gap for standard length of rail and to determine the installation temperature which has direct influence on the rail buckling and failure in welded part for continuous welded rail(CWR), Therefore, we have measured and investigated various characteristics of rail temperature for each kind of rail. As the results of this, the correlation between the atmosphere temperature and the rail temperature which is commonly used by Korean Railway should be reconsidered. Also, the daily highest '||'&'||' lowest rail temperature was occurred when each temperature is higher and when it's lower. For the light rail, the rail temperature by the sun-light increases quickly and decreases late. But the time where the highest temperature is attained is same. There are some differences between the shade and sunny place about 3.0∼4.0$\^{C}$. The temperature of rail web is almost close to the conversion rail temperature for rail expansion. The wind of 1 m/s has an influence on the rail temperature around 5$\^{C}$.

In this study, the optimal welding condition of the input power was selected experimentally through the ERW simulator, which is equal to welding status of ERW part in pipe. This condition is the input power 250kW in the heat treatment of the $900^{\circ}C$ normalizing derived from the nondestructive technique and impact energy. In order to evaluate the variation of the fatigue life in the pipe, fatigue surface crack growth test of base and optimal welded metal were performed statistically. As stress intensity factor range (${\Delta}K_s$) increases, the fatigue crack propagation rate (da/aN) of the base metal is faster than that of the welded joint. The variation of the fatigue life in the ERW pipe was estimated statistically using Monte-Carlo simulation with the standard deviation of material constants (C and m) of the paris law in the specimen.
The Periodic replacements criterion of rail is calculated on the basis of the research result of RTRI in Japan. It is suggested that the service life of the continuous welded rail(CWR) is estimated by the relationship between the rail surface irregularity according to the accumulated passing tonnage and bending fatigue of welded part in CWR. In order to establish the periodic replacements criterion of CWR, this study measured the rail surface irregularity according to the accumulated passing tonnage, the types of track system and welding. Therefore, it is analyzed that the gas pressure welding is the worst one of the others. In addition, it is analyzed that the rail surface irregularity growth rate in ballast track is about $0.02{\sim}0.03mm$/100MGT and its in concrete track is about $0.005{\sim}0.02mm$/100MGT Finally, the result of this study is able to use the basis data to establishing the periodic replacements criterion of CWR considering rail grinding.
The results of research focusing on the experimental and numerical performance of ferrocement RC beams with openings reinforced with welded steel mesh, expanded steel mesh, fiber glass mesh, and polyethylene mesh independently are presented in this article. Casting and testing of fourteen reinforced concrete beams with dimensions of 200×100×2000 mm under concentric compression loadings were part of the research program. The type of reinforcing materials, the volume fraction of reinforcement, the number of mesh layers, and the number of stirrups are the major parameters that change. The main goal is to understand the impact of using new appealing materials in reinforcing RC beams with openings. Using ANSYS-16.0 Software, nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA) was used to demonstrate the behavior of composite RC beams with openings. A parametric study is also conducted to discuss the variables that can have the greatest impact on the mechanical behavior of the proposed model, such as the number of openings. The obtained experimental and numerical results demonstrated the FE simulations' acceptable accuracy in estimating experimental values. Furthermore, demonstrating that the strength gained of specimens reinforced with fiber glass meshes was reduced by approximately 38% when compared to specimens reinforced with expanded or welded steel meshes is significant. In addition, when compared to welded steel meshes, using expanded steel meshes in reinforcing RC beams with openings results in a 16 percent increase in strength. In general, when ferrocement beams with openings are tested under concentric loadings, they show higher-level ultimate loads and energy-absorbing capacity than traditional RC beams.
The current study looks at the experimental and numerical performance of ferrocement RC channel slabs reinforced with welded steel mesh, expanded steel mesh, and fiber glass mesh individually. Ten RC channel slabs with dimensions of 500 mm×40 mm×2500 mm were subjected to flexural loadings as part of the testing program. The type of reinforcing materials, the number of mesh layers, and the reinforcement volume fraction are the key parameters that can be changed. The main goal is to determine the impact of using new inventive materials to reinforce composite RC channel slabs. Using ANSYS -16.0 Software, nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA) was used to simulate the behavior of composite channel slabs. Parametric study is also demonstrated to identify variables that can have a significant impact on the model's mechanical behavior, such as changes in slab dimensions. The obtained experimental and numerical results indicated that FE simulations had acceptable accuracy in estimating experimental values. Also, it's significant to demonstrate that specimens reinforced with fiber glass meshes gained approximately 12% less strength than specimens reinforced with expanded or welded steel meshes. In addition, Welded steel meshes provide 24% increase in strength over expanded steel meshes when reinforcing RC channel slabs. In general, ferrocement specimens tested under flexural loadings outperform conventional reinforced concrete specimens in terms of ultimate loads and energy absorbing capacity.

Cold and hot-rolled carbon steel sheets are commonly used in railroad cars or commercial vehicles such as the automobile. The sheets used in these applications are mainly fabricated by spot welding, which is a type of electric resistance welding. However, the fatigue strength of a spot-welded joint is lower than that of the base metal because of high stress concentration at the nugget edge of the spot-welded part. In particular, the fatigue strength of the joint is influenced by not only geometrical and mechanical factors but also the welding conditions for the spot-welded joint. Therefore, there is a need for establishing a reasonable criterion for a long-life design for spot-welded structures. In this thesis, ${\Delta}P-N_f$ relation curves have been used to determine a long-life fatigue-design criterion for thin-sheet structures. However, as these curves vary under the influence of welding conditions, mechanical conditions, geometrical factors, etc. It is very difficult to systematically determine a fatigue-design criterion on the basis of these curves. Therefore, in order to eliminate such problems, the welding residual stresses generated during welding and the stress distributions around the weld generated by external forces were numerically and experimentally analyzed on the basis of the results, reassessed fatigue strength of gas welded joints.

Weldlines are generated during the injection molding process when two or more melt flows are brought into contact. At the welded contact region, a 'V'-shaped notch is formed on the surface of the molded part. This 'V'-notch deteriorates not only surface appearance but also mechanical strength of the molded part. To eliminate or reduce weldlines so as to improve the weldline strength, the mold temperature at the corresponding weld locations should be maintained higher than the glass transition temperature of the resin material. The present study implements high-frequency induction heating in order to rapidly raise mold surface temperature without a significant increase in cycle time. This induction heating enables to local mold heating so as to eliminate or reduce weldlines in an injection-molded plastic part. The effect of induction heating conditions on the weldline strength and surface appearance of an injection-molded part is investigated.

This study deals with the prediction of defect location which can be occurred in structure. The existing methods was very difficult to be applied to predict it, because of complex numerical formula. The triangulation method proposed in this study can predict the source location easily with small amount of data. The arrival time of wave can be directly converted into the distance between sensors. For this purpose, the propagation velocity was measured by Rayleigh wave, and the propagation behavior was analyzed. The welded workpiece is adapted to investigate for the consideration of jointed part in structure, The propagation velocity of signal was measured in welded workpiece and the revised algorithm of source location was proposed.
