A Study on Portable Weighing Scales Applicable to Poultry Farms (가금류 농장에 적용 가능한 이동식 중량 저울에 관한 연구)

  • Smart livestock, which combines information and communication technology (ICT) with livestock, can be said to be an effective solution to existing livestock problems such as productivity improvement, odors, and diseases. So far, it has hardly been universalized; thus, it is necessary to develop automation devices to reduce labor by localizing automation devices to expand the distribution of ICT technology to farms, and to advance precise specifications and health management technology using biometric information. Weighing scales currently being used in livestock farms are to prevent the spread of diseases by diagnosis and preparation for AI and other diseases in advance, using information on the growing weight of duck breeding. However, accurate values cannot be obtained due to poor breeding conditions. In this paper, we developed a separate data transmission system kit for the weighing scale and placed the sensor on top of the weighing scale so that the sensor wire is not affected by pollutants or ducks on the floor. A display function was provided, and a method of receiving and analyzing the serial port data of the weighing device, and then transmitting them to the data collection server was implemented.

  • In this study, in conjunction with a SIMULINK program based on system modeling of a voice-coil-actuator (VCA)-driven balancing scale, a proportional-integral-derivative control algorithm is implemented, and weighing characteristics are investigated through experiments and simulations. The extent to which the back electromotive force induced in the VCA-driven circuit and the magnetic damping induced by the coil wound bobbin of VCA affect the weighing speed is also investigated.

  • The important properties of industrial scale or weighing machine operated in production lines are quickness and precision. This paper presents an algorithm which meets the importance. The algorithm of Recursive Least Squares Regression is described for the weighing system simulated as a dynamic model of the second order. Using the model and the algorithm, model parameters and then the mass being weighed can be determined from the step input. The performance of the algorithm is illustrated in digital simulation. Discussions have been extended to the development of fast converging algorithm. It turns out that the algorithm shows several desirable features suitable for microcomputer assisted realtime signal processing.

Development of the Portable Weighing Scale Automatic Device for Disabled Wheelchair Users (휠체어 탑승 장애인을 위한 이동형 체중측정 자동화 장치 개발)

  • Wheelchair users have a difficulty in managing their weight because there is lack of measure systems and even though the users have the system, it costs too much. Thus, purpose of this study is for developing the portable weight scale automatic device to help wheelchair users by monitoring their weight on the wheelchairs in real time. Portable weight scale automatic device composed by four strain gauges, and the device was connected with mobile phone so that wheelchair users were able to check their weight in real time. In order to evaluate the device performance, 10 normal subjects and 10 disabled subjects participated in this study. The subjects' truth weight and measured weight by the device are compared. The weigh difference within normal subjects was $0.75{\pm}0.80kg$, and the weigh difference within disabled subjects was $1.02{\pm}0.74kg$. Difference between the truth weigh and the measured weigh were not statistically different. The reason for this error occurred is inaccuracy of the loadcell installation and calibration. If this problems get solved, the measured indicator is expected to help wheelchair users to manage their weight.

  • As the result of reduction of the barrier of national economy on matters of quality assurance of weighing instruments in recently, it is considering in domestic as well as international matters. Therefore, this study is to analysis and compare with international md national measuring standards on the electric self-indicating scale, to improve the quality of electronic machine by providing a reformation plan on currently problems of domestic manufactured, and to identify to introduce in domestic criteria from international standards. I had compared KSC 1313 to OIML R 76-1 as the performance assessment items, such as metrology Properties test, static temperature test, temperature effect testing under the un-load, electronic wave disturbance test, high-tempereature and high-humidity stability test and durability test. Therefore, only one company is passed all items of the test according to the international (reference) standards, but it is possible to improve the quality in general if it should be use the load cell and electric components which is stability of temperature change in order to supplementation to the static temperature test and temperature effect testing under the un-load. It is also possible to apply in the domestic with the OIML 76-1 after correcting the design.

  • For the design and maintenance of highways and road structures, the statistical data are needed for the vehicle, especially heavy truck crossing. So far, static weighing has been used but it needs fixed station, crews, and it takes a lot of time. Also truck mix and headway distances cannot be obtained. Weigh-In-Motion system uses the sensor as a weighing scale and collects the axle weights, axle distances, vehicle types and etc. without stopping or slowing down the vehicle. Objectives of the study is make a determination of WIM Sensor for Implementation of U-Overloaded Vehicle Regulation System.

Bridge Weigh-In-Motion system uses the bridge as a weighing scale and collects the axle weights, axle distances. vehicle types and etc. without stopping or slowing down the vehicle. In this study, for the first time in the country, BWIM system is applied on steel I-girder bridge and its applicability is examined. Also data collected in this system is analyzed to get truck traffic characteristics including average daily truck traffic, weight distribution, typical truck configuration and overweight truck status. The results are compared with other data from weighing station and highway toll gates.

A Study on the Development and the Uncertainty Analysis of Oil Flow Standard System (기름 유량표준장치의 개발 및 측정 불확도에 관한 연구)

  • A national standard system was developed in order to calibrate and test the oil flowmeters for the petroleum field. A stop valve and a gyroscopic weighing scale were employed for the primary standard of the flow quantity. It is operated by the standing start and finish mode and the static weighing method. The model equation for uncertainty evaluation was based on the calibration principle of standard system. The sources of the uncertainties were quantified and combined according to the GUM(Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement). It was found that the standard system had the relative expanded uncertainty of 0.04 % in the range of 18 - 350 ㎥/h. According to the uncertainty budget, the uncertainties of the fluid density and the volume of pipeline, which were temperature dependent, contributed 92% of final uncertainty in the oil flow standard system.

  • This paper is a study of the functions required for the system to quantify the closest target weight by combining several random weights such as chips, snacks, fruits, and vegetables. The multi-head weigher is designed for high-performance applications requiring increased production rates and tight accuracy tolerances. This combination system has 12 heads considered in the form of a rectangular array of $2{\times}6$ or $3{\times}4$. Channel combination can usually occur between 1 and n, and the frequency was the highest with two or three combinations. Experimental result of a combination system for a total target weight was measured at the range from 100g to 500g by increments of 50g, and the average success rate was about 70%. The average elapsed time was about 1.7 seconds, which means it can be used for the packaging of agricultural products with a variety of items.

  • This paper presents the design of a smart A/D conversion interface used for measuring the load of a truck. Since the load-cell sensor to be used is very sensitive for weight variation, the interface board must have the low-drift and the A/D conversion for accuracy. A new integrator and comparator has been developed to reduce the offset voltage and the drift current of operational amplifiers and has been adapted into the interface board. Also, a software algorithm has been developed to obtain the stable and accrurate A/D conversion. This software includes a RS-485 communication program to control the interface, which gives a capability of backing-up the calibration data and transferring control data. The test and evaluation of the designed interface has been shown as having the better performance compared to the other types of existing weighing systems and sensor instruments.
