A System Framework and Research Challenges for the Semantic Web Applications (시맨틱 웹 애플리케이션의 시스템 프레임워크 및 도전 과제에 관한 연구)

  • The Semantic Web has appeared to handle information on the web effectively, which has been increasing very rapidly since the web emerged. It refers to the machine, which understands the meaning of information on behalf of human and handles the information automatically that users want. The objective of this research is to help people to understand the Semantic Web as the next generation web by surveying the applications of Semantic Web technologies. To that end, this paper suggests a system framework which can be used for analyzing most of the Semantic Web applications. Using the suggested the framework, the recent Semantic Web applications are analyzed. And then research challenges are discussed to be overcome for the practical Semantic Web based on the analyzed results.

  • New technologies representing the Fourth Industrial Revolution are already being realized in library services. There is not, however, active research on measures to increase work efficiency by introducing a new technology in the work of "classification" that is part of the traditional librarian jobs they should continue in the future. The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) has not issued a print version since 2018. This study analyzes cases of WebDewey, Classification Web, and UDC Online. The functions required for the development of the Korean Decimal Classification (KDC) web version were derived, and the final functions suitable for the development of the KDC web version were proposed through AHP analysis.

  • In this paper I try to analyze the trends of f environments, which changes dramatically, on the center of Web2.0 and Geospatial web, and then investigate how these new technologies can be applied in the field of geography. Nowadays international IT companies have provided the internee map which includes whole world. Also, mashup technology based on internet map has also been applied in the various areas. In the study of geography one can utilize the internet map as a basic data for regional study. In addition, I recognize that the collaborative intellectual of the ordinary people as well as expert can be utilized actively in the regional study. But in Korea, the mashup technology based on the internet map is not fully utilized. It is necessary to study the technologies related to the Geospatial web. For example, the study of the Geocoding technology which can locate the user information on the internet map, the technology that can combine the information of Geospatial attributes among the various information widely dispersed over the internet with the internet map, and the technology that can efficiently visualizing data by using wet-based vector graphic etc, is needed.

  • Recently with advent of Web 2.0, RESTful Web Services are becoming increasing trend to emphasize Web as platform. There are already many services and the number of service increases in very fast pace. So it is difficult to find the service what we want by keyword based search. To solve this problem, we developed the search method using sem antic technologies about RESTful Web Services. For that, first we define the system structure and model the description format based on the integrated search system for OpenAPIs, and then we add Semantic Markup (tagging, semantic annotation) on the HTML description pages. Next we extract RDF document from them and store it in service repository. Based on the keywords that are extended by means of ontology, the developed system provides more purified and extended results than similarity-based keyword searching system.

  • As existing analog video surveillance systems could save and retrieve data only in a limited space within short distance, it had many constraints in developing into various application systems. However, on the back of development of the Internet and computer technologies, digital video surveillance systems can be controlled from a remote location by web browser without space limits. Moreover, data compression and management technologies with Index Search algorithm make it possible to efficiently handling, storing, and retrieving a large amount of data and further motion detection algorithm enhances a recording speed and efficiency for a practical application, that is, a practical remote recordable video surveillance system using our efficient algorithms as mentioned, called WebCam. The WebCam server system can intelligently record and save video images digitized through efficient database management, monitor and control cameras in a remote place through user authentication, and search logs.

Development 2.0: Principles and Warnings for Leveraging Advances in Information Communication Technologies for Improved Development Efforts

  • Advances in Information Communication Technologies (ICT) have demonstrated tremendous potential for solving development challenges and improving development processes, culminating in the new Development 2.0. Many development practitioners have embraced ICT (particularly on Web 2.0 and mobile phone technologies and applications), which have become hot topics in both the development community and the policy community as they engage in development practice and dialogue. Despite this excitement, there lacks among the policy community a robust understanding of the powers and pitfalls of ICT in development, executed actions to back the excited chatter, and dissemination of this understanding to practitioners and policymakers alike. We conducted a literature review, interviewed experts, and engaged in discussion with leaders in international development and science and technology policy to provide an operational framework base in which to view ICT in development. This framework regards ICT as tools that support more effective and efficient community development actions and appropriate consideration of general guidelines, which enable better engagement across and within sectors and individuals. Flexibility and accountability are critical requirements pervading throughout the various actions and guidelines, which promote transparent, partnership-based, and sustainable development. We highlight the strengths and weaknesses of ICT to focus on the cautions to keep ICT access and distribution in context, understand the various levels of technologies and services, and dig below the surface as excitement about ICT increases and threatens to become a short-term solution. We offer ideas for specific programs that policymakers can implement to contribute to a more efficient and effective development process to ultimately support global human development, but stress the endless possibilities that can be explored with creativity and flexibility beyond what is proposed here.

  • Despite rapid changes in the structure of industry, manufacturing remains a key industry for economic progress, promotion of trade, increased employment, and the creation of new industries. Production technologies are essential for strengthening the competitiveness of small- and medium-sized manufacturing industries. However, it is very difficult to standardize and systematically propagate production technology from an experienced worker to an inexperienced worker because these technologies are generally improved by the skilled people in a workshop. In this study, we introduce a Web-based platform system consisting of a knowledge authoring tool, technology database, semantic database, and Web portal service for sharing production technologies for the exterior housing parts of mobile products. By investigating various cellular phone designs, reference form factors for three types of mobile phone housings were designed based on the standard features. In addition, several manufacturing technologies and considerable information such as reference mold designs and molding conditions optimized using CAE and recent R&D outputs are stored in this system.

  • Web is becoming a necessary element of information acquisition methods for us who live in an information and knowledge-oriented society, as it is today. It is deriving a revolutionary change on various parts of our society, such as education, culture, etc. Also due to epoch-making development and diversification of web-related technologies and content types, the knowledge, technique and complexity of web users also accompanied it. In this research web-related education of schools for the visually handicapped and current situation of web access of such students are seized, their problems related to web access are analyzed, and efficient alternatives for web implementation to solve those problems were suggested. On the other hand, since this research is a survey targeting information and computer related teachers of 12 schools for the visually handicapped within Korea, it has the restriction that it does not include the analysis of current state of charity facilities which are not regular education institutions. Moreover, the content of the survey is composed by considering totally blind students, thus more detailed survey should also be conducted for weak-sighted students as well.

  • With the rapid growth of WWW, the existing systems are integrated into web and various web-based systems are developed. Unlike the general applications, web aplications are developed by combining the various technologies and have their own complexities. So, we have much difficulties in the development and maintenance of web applications. To accommodate to the rapidly changing business environments and user requirements, the continuos evolution is required. In this paper, we present a method for supporting the effective development and maintenance of web applications. Our method involves the extraction of web application's structure information and analyzes web log ales containing the useful information about web site. We also describe a web testing method using the attracted information and our system developed for extracting hyperlink information and analyzing web log.

A Study on Protecting for forgery modification of User-input on Webpage (웹 페이지에서 사용자 입력 값 변조 방지에 관한 연구)

  • Most of the web-based services are provided by a web browser. A web browser receives a text-based web page from the server and translates the received data for the user to view. There are a myriad of add-ons to web browsers that extend browser features. The browser's add-ons may access web pages and make changes to the data. This makes web-services via web browsers are vulnerable to security threats. A web browser stores web page data in memory in the DOM structure. One method that prevents modifications to web page data applies hash values to certain parts in the DOM structure. However, a certain characteristic of web-pages renders this method ineffective at times. Specifically, the user-input data is not pre-determined, and the hash value cannot be calculated prior to user input. Thus the modification to the data cannot be prevented. This paper proposes a method that both detects and inhibits any attempt to change to user-input data. The proposed method stores user-input from the keyboard and makes a comparison with the data transmitted from the web browser to detect any anomalies.
