  • EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) works by providing a collection of standard message formats and element dictionary in a simple way for businesses to exchange data via any electronic messaging service. Open-edi is electronic data interchange among autonomous parties using public standards and aiming towards interoperability over time, business sectors, information technology and data types. The number of Internet services using XML/EDI has grown rapidly since it is easily expansible and exchangeable. To use this service, the client does not have to install EDI S/W but only needs internet browser. Consequently, it became much easier and faster to handle the trading process in an office. eBusiness SML (extensible markup language) electronic data interchange. eXedi is the service that realizes B2B of XML/EDI. eXedi can be used easily in small and medium sized companies. Companies in any place can access to eXedi using the existing Internet connection. XML/EDI provides a standard framework to exchange different types of data -- for example, an invoice, healthcare claim, project status -- so that the information be it in a transaction, exchanged via an Application Program Interface (API), web automation, database portal, catalog, a workflow document or message can be searched, decoded, manipulated, and displayed consistently and correctly by first implementing EDI dictionaries and extending our vocabulary via on-line repositories to include our business language, rules and objects.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the operational state of Distance universities' electronic libraries through the Lifelong Education Law, and to find out the related problems. The main investigational focus was on the operational methodologies of the libraries and the usage levels of the full-text service. The data were collected through accessing the URLs of 17 Distance universities authorized till 2005. The result is that every university is operating their libraries either on their own $(17.7\%)$ or by using the links to the external libraries $(82.4\%)$. However, only $(35.3\%)$ of the surveyed universities provide the full-text service available on the Internet. Thus, in order to establish the fourth generation Distance university based on the Internet and Web, it is urgently needed to improve the construction and operation standards of electronic libraries in the Lifelong Education Law.

  • Background & Objectives: Current trend is that funding agencies require investigators to share their data with others. However, there is limited guidance how to access and utilize the shared data. We sought to determine what common data sharing practices in U.S.A. are, what data-related to adolescent health are freely available, and how we deal with the large dataset adopting the complex study design. Methods: The study included only research data-related to adolescent health which was collected in USA and unlimitedly accessible through the internet. Only the raw data, not aggregated, was considered for the study. Major keywords for web search were "adolescent", "children", "health", and "school". Results: Current approaches for public health data sharing lacked of common standards and varied largely due to the data's complex nature, large size, local expertise and internal procedures. Some common data sharing practices are unlimited access, formal screened access, restricted access, and informal exclusive access. The Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention were the best data depository. "Data on the net" was search engine for the website providing data freely available. Six datasets related to adolescent health freely available were identified. The importance and methods of incorporating complex research design into analysis was discussed. Conclusion: There have been various attempts to standardize process for open access and open data using the information technology concept. However, it may not be easy for researchers to adapt themselves to this high technology. Therefore, guidance provided by this study may help researchers enhance the accessibility to and the utilization of the open source data.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop cultural food contents from local dishes related to the historical and cultural heritage in the representative areas of Gurye and Jinan. The information on 'Story' was collected from each region's representative local native journal, searches of related web-sites, analysis of old literature, and interviews of traditional households. 'Telling', the conveyance, was focused on texts of literature analysis, which were synthesized from historical conditions, regional food materials, cuisine, regional symbolism, etc. The created food contents were displayed with balanced and healthy Korean food dishes after nutritional analysis. In Gurye, the content was extracted from the story of Hwang hyun (黃玹, 1855-1910) - figura of Gurye - and his collection, "Maecheonyarok", and the storytelling native food was prepared. In Jinan, the content was extracted from the text of an anecdote from "filial son Kwang-beom Lee", a local journal. We tried to express Gurye's clean image in connection with the patriot - Hwang hyun (his nick name was Maecheon), in the late period of Chosun through the unprocessed and simple nature of the dining table. As in Jinan's storytelling materials, we tried to express a healthy menu of health food for older people based on the clean nature and documents about the real character's filial behavior. The developed healthy menu and dining table properties in this study have been established in accordance with nutrient intake standards of energy in Korea.

  • In biological domain, there exist a variety of protein analysis databases which have their own meaning toward the same target of protein. If we integrate these scattered heterogeneous data efficiently, we can obtain useful information which otherwise cannot be found from each original source. Reflecting the characteristics of biological data, each data source has its own syntax and semantics. If we describe these data through RDF(S) models, one of the Semantic Web standards, we can achieve not only syntactic but also semantic integration. In this paper, we propose a new concept of integration layer based on the RDF unified schema. As a conceptual model, we construct a unified schema focusing on the protein information; as a representational model, we propose a technique for the wrappers to aggregate necessary information from the relevant sources and dynamically generate RDF instances. Two example queries show that our integration layer succeeds in processing the integrated requests from users and displaying the appropriate results.

  • Naval vessels are not regulated by the class rules, but by the special regulations. This study introduces the concept and characteristics of the regulations of U.S. Navy which has been the most reliable standards in design of naval vessels in Korea, and intends to help designers to comprehend the effect of each regulation on design results. Also, an optimum structural design method combined with the structural analysis theory is proposed for naval vessels following the regulations of U.S. Navy and is applied to the design of a naval vessel. After application of the optimum design method, its validity is shown and an optimum design of midship section is obtained. In addition, the optimum spaces or longitudinals and transverse web frames are found and the effect of main design variables can be investigated.
