Because the complexity in the development phase of geographic information system, its hard to change its operation or user interface after the development. So we should develop most part of the applied GIS even though previous GIS is almost exist. In other words, reusing the previous system is not easy. Therefore, its required to research reusable GIS for easy construction of applied GIS. This thesis describes design and implementation of web GIS framework which makes applied web GIS development more easy. Framework is software library composed of reusable units such like classes and objects. Proposed web GIS framework Provides basic web GIS functionalities and execution design to web GIS developers. They could extend the framework to build applied web GIS with applied operation and user interface. The development of applied web GIS could be archived by various tools used for general web application development.

I-Business providers and customers have chosen the service availability as the most important technical parameter which should be included in their SLA to succeed in their business. This means that web Service availability management is crucial to the web-based service providers. Application availability is originally defined as a measure of the fraction of time during a defined period when the service provided is deemed to be better than user expectation of service performance. But, because most web service availability measurement tools simply monitor disconnected state, they do not satisfy user's expectation of extended availability concept. In this paper, We propose the web service availability measurement method which supports extended availability concept. It takes account of performance degradation of web service based on response time, and determines what is the cause of unavailability of the service. We developed a measurement tool, WebSerAvail.

This study was done to analyze the contents of food and nutrition information sites on the internet. In analysis, 276 web sites were used. Web sites from 3 internet search engines(Yahoo, Empas, Naver) were selected on the date of July 15th, 2004. The trained panels evaluated web sites' contents by the assessment tools using 3-point scale(2:strongly agree, 1:agree, 0:disagree). The contents classified by topics were functional foods(46.4%), cuisine and cooking(38.4%), food sanitation and safety(30.4%) and so on. Operators of web sites were individual(35.9%), company(30.4%) and public institution(33.7%). About 89.5% of web sites were operated for unspecified people. Contents of the web sites were well established especially in consistency in title and contents(1.6), scientific basis of explanations(1.2) and benefit of information(1.2) and so on while not well established in providing relevant sites(0.7), providing contact address and feed back mechanism(0.7) and so on. Web sites operated by public institutions are rated significantly higher than web sites operated by individual or company. In conclusion, in order to qualitatively improve food and nutrition information on the internet, continuing monitoring and evaluation are highly required and web sites operated by public institutions shall be developed further.

It is unavoidable to provide products that meet customers' needs and wants so that firms may survive under the competition in this globalized market. This paper focuses on how to provide levels for attributes that compse product so that firms may give the best products to customers. In particular, its main issue is how to determine common attributes and the others with their appropriate levels to maximize firms' profits, and how to construct a decision support system to ease decision makers' decisons about optimal common attribute selection using the Semantic Web and SWCL technologies. Parameter data in problems and the relationships in the data are expressed in an ontology data model and a set of constraints by using the Semantic Web and SWCL technologies. They generate a quantitative decision making model through the automatic process in the proposed system, which is fed into the solver using the Logic-based Benders Decomposition method to obtain an optimal solution. The system finally provides the generated solution to the decision makers. This presentation suggests the opportunity of the integration of the proposed system with the broader structured data network and other decision making tools because of the easy data shareness, the standardized data structure and the ease of machine processing in the Semantic Web technology.

This research investigates how digital design agencies and client companies incorporate design thinking-a human-centered approach to solving difficult problems-into their website development processes. Based on a literature review on the design-thinking-driven web development process, multiple case studies of award-winning website projects were performed by in-depth interviews with key practitioners. Through analyses of these cases, their user-centered approaches for website innovation were identified according to the following four phases: web planning (discovery and defining phases) and web design and development (development and delivery phases). Moreover, distinct approaches of design thinking practices were identified according to two website types: a brand promotion website with a killer brand storytelling approach; and a service channel website with a strategic UI/UX-driven approach. Next, the key success drivers of these website projects were suggested in light of the typical themes of design thinking (i.e., human centeredness, research based, context awareness, and collaboration). Some practical limitations were also found in adopting the design-thinking-driven web development process, such as limited research methods and tools, and insufficient prototyping and experimentation. Along with these limitations, it was also discovered that current digital design agencies still face the following challenges in adopting the design-thinking-driven web development process: building a long-term, playful partnership with clients; leveraging decision-makers' design thinking awareness; and coping with limited resources (design thinking practitioners, budgets, and schedules).

This study aims to analyze research trend of Web 2.0 use in education and to suggest directions for further studies. Sixty representative studies were selected and analyzed in terms of a developed framework of Web 2.0 based learning environments and an analysis scheme. This scheme is divided into five dimensions: research targets, research themes, types of Web 2.0 tools, learning theories and research methodology. The findings indicate that a majority of the previous studies aimed to share information and reflect thoughts in collaborative contexts through blogs and wikis at universities. Some implications were discussed for further studies.

A web based E-mail system consists of serves which supply mail accounts and service, and clients which take part of interfacing with users. The web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer are the popular clients. Users who cannot afford to get an E-mail id in general mail servers are, therefore, able to reach a e-mailing service in the web environment by using client programs in connection with a mail server. Although the quality of service has been upgraded a lot in recent days, it doesn't provide with satisfactory services anymore. In this paper, we intend to design a mail agent system based on the web environment. Through this system we could reach a convenient user interface based on Internet Explorer and could easily access administratory environment on the basis of NT Server 4.0. Using the service engine dominent in mail agent system, it could provide with convenient user interfacing tools like responding the absence of users, mail filtering and refusing messages, etc. And it would ultimately make possible a constant system security, by preventing system failure phenomena caused by extraordinary uses beyond its capability.

For effective maintenance for web applications, it is necessary to improve the readability of the source pages. Though CSS(Cascading Style Sheet) belongs to pure presentation layer in various web constituent entities, CSS codes are often used by inlning and they are sometimes automatically generated by web development tools. The existing studies on CSS optimization have only focused on reducing the size of codes and they did not incorporate the readability or the reusability. In this paper, CSS codes are structured and several criteria for readability are defined to improve the readabilty and reusability. Based on them, the algorithm to improve the readability are proposed. Finally, case study are presented to show the applicability of the proposed algorithm.

So, for reducing the development time and workload of XML web service programs, it is necessary to develop the web program generation tools. This paper suggest how to design and implement the web-based XML Tree builder, which was able to provide the information for promptly and easily generating the XML Schema, XML Stylesheet and XML Document through the XML Development Supporting Server System.
