Tension Control in a Nonlinear Web Transfer System (비선형 웹 이송 시스템의 장력 제어)

  • This paper presents the study of the tension control in a web transfer system. In this study the sliding mode controller is applied to a time-varying nonlinear mathematical model. The model was derived to consider the effects of changing the roll radius in tension variation during winding and unwinding. The uncertainty in modeling may be due to unmodelled dynamics, on variations in system model. Designed sliding mode controller made the system error always staying in the suggested surface from the beginning. Through this, system is maintained to be robust against a disturbance and uncertainty. To verify the designed controller has a good performance, various inputs such as desired velocity, step input, and trapezoidal input are applied. When the sliding mode controller was used, the system(the tension control) performance was improved comparing to the PID controller. The robustness of the controller with respect to an estimation error was verified through simulations.

  • This paper describes a web-based system called DESIGNER for the analysis and design for automated material handling equipment(MHE) applications in manufacturing. DESIGNER models the processes for system integration, economic analysis, performance analysis, and automated storage/retrieval system(AS/RS) design. Based on the information specified by users, the various analysis modules are invoked to meet the needs of the material handling applications. The results of the analyses provide system users with useful data for material handling system design and decision on investment in automated MHE. Example problems are also presented to demonstrate the use of the system.

  • Summary: The analysis of human genetic variation is one of the key issues far the understanding of the different drug response among individuals and many programs are developed for this purpose. However, current publicly available programs have so many limitations such as time complexity problem for the analysis of large amount of alleles or SNPs, difficult manipulation for installation, data import, and usage, and low-quality visual output. Here we present workbench for SNP anlaysis, SNPAnalyzer. SNPAnalyzer consists of 3 main modules: 1)Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium ,2) Haplotype Estimation, and 3) Linkage Disequilibrium. Each module has several different widely-used algorithms for the extensive analysis and can handle large amount of alleles and SNPs with simple format. Analysis results are displayed in user-friendly formats such as table, graph and map. SNPAnalyzer is developed using C and C$^{++}$ and users can easily access through web-interftce.   • In this paper, we propose a new approach for the implicit rating algorithm of finding user's intense and preference to the contents on the web. Although the explicit method dig out the user preference of specific contents based on the user's intervention, we propose the implicit method obtaining the user preference according to the user's behavioral patterns on the web implicitly and automatically without the user's intervention. The implementation results show that the proposed approach is highly valuable for supporting recommender systems in conjunction with the users lifestyle.

A Database of Gene Expression Profiles of Korean Cancer Genome

  • Because there are clear molecular differences entailing different treatment effectiveness between Korean and non-Korean cancer patients, identifying distinct molecular characteristics of Korean cancers is profoundly important. Here, we report a web-based data repository, namely Korean Cancer Genome Database (KCGD), for searching gene signatures associated with Korean cancer patients. Currently, a total of 1,403 cancer genomics data were collected, processed and stored in our repository, an ever-growing database. We incorporated most widely used statistical survival analysis methods including the Cox proportional hazard model, log-rank test and Kaplan-Meier plot to provide instant significance estimation for searched molecules. As an initial repository with the aim of Korean-specific marker detection, KCGD would be a promising web application for users without bioinformatics expertise to identify significant factors associated with cancer in Korean.

  • Reliability of embedded softwares, as one of factors which affect system reliability, is the probability of failure-free software operation for a specified period of time in a specified environment. and Embedded software is different from general package software because hardware and operating system are tightly coupled to each other. Reliability evaluation models for embedded softwares currently used do not separate estimation and prediction models clearly, and even a standard model has not been proposed yet. In this respect, we choose a reliability estimation model suitable for embedded softwares among software evaluation models being used, and modified the model so as to accomodate recent software environments. In addtion, based on the model, the web-based reliability prediction tool RPX is developed. Finally, an embedded software is analyzed using the tool.

  • 인터넷에 대한 많은 관심만큼 교육용 웹 사이트를 신뢰성 있고 효과적으로 평가할 수 있는 평가모델의 개발이 활발히 연구되어 지고 있다. 본 논문은 지금까지 여러 분야에서 제시되어 사용되고 있는 다양한 웹 문서 평가기준 기준에 관한 기존 연구를 바탕으로 평가 항목을 제시하였다. 그리고, 교육용 웹 사이트 평가 수준을 계량적으로 표현할 수 있는 모델을 제시하였다. 또한 교육용 웹 사이트 평가 모델의 평가단계 평가 영역별 가증치를 설정하여 평가 모형이 교육용 웹 사이트에서 고유의 특성을 잘 반영할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • In this paper, we determined the driver's stress and fatigue level through physiological signals of a driver in the connected car environment, accordingly designing and implementing the architecture of the connected cars' platforms needed to provide services to make the driving environments comfortable and reduce the driver's fatigue level. It includes a gateway between AVN and ECU for the vehicle control, a framework for native applications and web applications based on AVN, and a sensing device and an emotion estimation engine for application services. This paper will provide the element technologies for the connected car-based convergence services and their implementation methods, and reference models for the service design.
