Wave energy dissipation and energy transfer between wave components, during the directional wave breakings, are investigated. Directional incipient and plunging breakers were generated by focusing the multi-frequency and multi-directional wave components at a designed location, based on a constant wave amplitude and a constant wave steepness frequency spectrum. The time series of surface wave elevation was measured at 9 different locations around the wave focusing point, using a wave gauge array. In order to examine the variation of the directional spreading function, the horizontal velocity of fluid motion was also measured. By comparing energy spectrums, before and after the breaking, the characteristics of energy dissipation and energy transfer, caused by wave breaking, are investigated. Their dependencies on directionality, as well as frequency, are analyzed. The breakings significantly dissipate wave energy, through energy transfer, in the upper region of the peak-frequency band, while enhancing wave energy in the low-frequency band.

The aim of the study was performed the wave analysis of P-VEP on the normal monocular vision and amblyopia in binocular. The P-VEP of three channels were recorded by the Nicolet system. Five adults (three males, two females, mean=22 years, range=19 to 24) subjects were recorded The subjects were researched the history including the systemic health, medication, genetics, allergy and ocular disease. Visual acuity and stereopsis were recorded for each subject monocularly and binocularly. Also subjects viewed the P-VEP stimulus both monocularly and binocularly through the corrected visual acuity during the VEP were recorded. The results of study suggest that the visual acuity of binocularly is better than with monocularly and the stereopsis was about over 140 sec. On the other hand, the analysis of P-VEP suggest that the amplitude of wave is larger when the monocular eye receives the P-VEP stimulus compared with the binocular eye. However the amplitude of wave in amblyopia had more smaller than the normal monocular The latency period of P-VEP was similar to results between the normal eye and binocular vision. But the amblyopia was a long period compared with the normal monocular and binocular vision. In conclusion, this study indicated that the visual acuity of binocularly have a better than the normal monocular vision, But in the P-VEP test, the amplitude of wave on normal monocularly vision appears to be better through the binocularly. But the amblyopia appeared the low amplitude wave of P-VEP and decreased the visual acuity.
Stability of the barotropic Rossby-Haurwitz wave is investigated using the numerical models on the global domain. The Rossby-Haurwitz wave under investigation is composed of the basic zonal flow of super-rotation and a finite amplitude spherical harmonic wave. The Rossby-Haurwitz wave is given as either steady or unsteady wave by adjusting the strength of the super-rotating zonal flow. Stability as well as the growth rate of the wave in the numerical simulation is determined by comparing the perturbation amplitude at two different time stages. Unstable modes of the Rossby-Haurwitz wave exhibited a horizontal structure composing of various zonal-wavenumber components. The vorticity perturbation for some modes showed a discontinuity around the area of weak flow, which was found robust regardless of the horizontal resolution of the model. Fourier finite element model was shown to generate the unstable mode in earlier stage of the time integration due to less accuracy compared to the spherical harmonic spectral model. Taking the overall accuracy of the models into consideration, the time by which the unstable mode begin to dominate over the spherical harmonic wave was estimated.
This study was to investigate the effect of EEG wave type on visual cortex of visual target according to position of fixation point on the Korean. Visual evoked potential system used the BIO-Pag and recorded to 586 computer. The illumination was 500 lux and the visual target was red light dot of 3 cm size. The results of the convergence and divergence as follows: The visual stimulation waves on the visual cortex have about 70% of delta wave, about 10% of beta wave, about 9% of theta wave and about 7% of alpha wave respectively. The convergence state was much more appeared the fast wave on the comparative of the divergence. Therefore, the convergence state was much more producted the beta and alpha wave on the comparative of the divergence. On the other hand, on the convergence and divergence, the histogram amplitude of EEG wave appeared almost the non-Gaussian shape. According to the phase analysis of amplitude of EEG wave almost all type was linear shape.

In this paper, The statistical properties of ocean waves in the sea area of Hong-do, Korea are examined based on 1998-2002's wave data from a directional wave buoy. Wave data aquisition rate, mean wave heights, frequency of wave direction are summarized. Wave height and period scatter diagrams and n-years return period wave heights are estimated. Wave periods of maximum wave heights are also estimated. Large amplitude wave characteristics during the typhoon Prapiroon in 2000, Rusa in 2002 are also examined.
The tension leg platform (TLP) is one of the compliant structures which are generally used for deep water oil exploration. With respect to the horizontal degrees of freedom, it behaves like a floating structure moored by vertical tethers which are pretension due to the excess buoyancy of the platform, whereas with respect to the vertical degrees of freedom, it is stiff and resembles a fixed structure and is not allowed to float freely. In the current study, a numerical study for square TLP using modified Morison equation was carried out in the time domain with water particle kinematics using Airy's linear wave theory to investigate the effect of changing the tether tension force on the stiffness matrix of TLP's, the dynamic behavior of TLP's; and on the fatigue stresses in the cables. The effect was investigated for different parameters of the hydrodynamic forces such as wave periods, and wave heights. The numerical study takes into consideration the effect of coupling between various degrees of freedom. The stiffness of the TLP was derived from a combination of hydrostatic restoring forces and restoring forces due to cables. Nonlinear equation was solved using Newmark's beta integration method. Only uni-directional waves in the surge direction was considered in the analysis. It was found that for short wave periods (i.e., 10 sec.), the surge response consisted of small amplitude oscillations about a displaced position that is significantly dependent on tether tension force, wave height; whereas for longer wave periods, the surge response showed high amplitude oscillations that is significantly dependent on wave height, and that special attention should be given to tethers fatigue because of their high tensile static and dynamic stress.
Experimental results are given for the vertical motion of water in the water chambers for wave energy converter aligned along the wave propagation direction in order to avoid the impulsive wave forces. This paper mainly focuses on the property of the amplitude of the vertical motion of the water surface in the chambers. The amplification has been investigated by dimensionless parameters of wave period to resonance period ratio of the U-shaped oscillation, $T/T_r$, chamber size to wave length ratio, l/L, water depth to wave length ratio, h/L, amplitude of up-down motion of water particles to draft of the front wall ratio, ${\zeta}/D$. It has been shown that l/L should be less than 0.1 and as $T/T_r$ approaches unity the up-down of the water in the chambers is amplified. Also, the structure of the walls which form th water chambers has been examined roughly. It is deduced that the chambers set on both sides of the hull of a single-point moored floating vessel is preferable to those set along a fixed structure such as breakwaters.

Most methods for detecting arrhythmia require pp interval, diversity of P wave morphology, but it is difficult to detect the p wave signal because of various noise types. Therefore it is necessary to use noise-free R wave. In this paper, we propose algorithm for premature contraction arrhythmia classification through ECG pattern analysis and template threshold. For this purpose, we detected R wave through the preprocessing method using morphological filter, subtractive operation method. Also, we developed algorithm to classify premature contraction wave pattern using weighted average, premature ventricular contraction(PVC) and atrial premature contraction(APC) through template threshold for R wave amplitude. The performance of R wave detection, PVC classification is evaluated by using 6 record of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database that included over 30 PVC and APC. The achieved scores indicate the average of 99.77% in R wave detection and the rate of 94.91%, 95.76% in PVC and APC classification.

In order to rationally design a new conceptual submerged floating railway, prediction of wave forces applied to the structure is very important. In this paper, equations to calculate such forces based on hydrodynamic theories were proposed and model tests were carried out. Inertia forces and drag forces, calculated using Morison's equation and the linear small amplitude wave theory, were in good agreement with the results from model tests conducted in a wave making tank. Drag forces were negligible compared with inertia forces. Also, wave forces showed linear variation with the changing wave heights. It was revealed that the linear wave theory and Morison's equation can give a simple and useful solution for the prediction of wave forces in the initial design stage of a submerged floating railway.

The attenuation of acoustic emission (AE) waves was evaluated for injection-molded short-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites employing simulated AE waves. Values of attenuation coefficient (${\alpha}$) decreased more with increasing fiber volume fraction ($V_f$) than that expected from a simple linear relation between ${\alpha}$ and $V_f$. The effect of wave attenuation was taken into account in a quantitative analysis of the AE peak amplitude distribution which was obtained from each zone partitioned in a specimen gage portion. The amplitude distribution compensated for the measured attenuation loss was exhibited almost similar in every zone of the specimen. Consequently, it was, shown that the AE amplitudes obtained from fiber/plastic composites were considerably affected by the attenuation.
