In this paper, we present a digital authentication technique using content-based watermarking in digital images. To digest the image contents, Hopfield network is employed on the block-based edge image. The Hopfield function extracts the same tit fur similarly looking blocks so that the values are unlikely to change to the innocuous manipulations while being changed far malicious manipulations. By inputting the extracted bit sequence with secret key to the cryptographic hash function, we generate a watermark for each block by seeding a pseudo random number generator with a hash output Therefore, the proposed authentication technique can distinguish between malicious attacks and innocuous attacks. Watermark embedding is based on the block-based spread spectrum method in DCT domain and the strength of watermark is adjusted according to the local statistics of DCT coefficients in a zig-zag scan line in AC subband. The numerical experiments show that the proposed technique is very efficient in the performance of robust authentication.
This paper presents an adaptive digital image watermarking scheme that uses successive subband quantization (SSQ) and perceptual modeling. Our approach performs a multiwavelet transform to determine the local image properties optimal and the watermark embedding location. The multiwavelet used in this paper is the DGHM multiwavelet with approximation order 2 to reduce artifacts in the reconstructed image. A watermark is embedded into the perceptually significant coefficients (PSC) of the image in each subband. The PSCs in high frequency subbands are selected by setting the thresholds to one half of the largest coefficient in each subband. After the PSCs in each subband are selected, a perceptual model is combined with a stochastic approach based on the noise visibility function to produce the final watermark.

In this paper, we propose a watermarking method for protecting the ownership of three-dimensional (3D) content generated from depth and texture images. After selecting the target areas to preserve the watermark by depth-image-based rendering, the reference viewpoint image is moved right and left in the depth map until the maximum viewpoint change is obtained and the overlapped region is generated for marking space. The region is divided into four subparts and scanned. After applying discrete cosine transform, the watermarks are inserted. To extract the watermark, the viewpoint can be changed by referring to the viewpoint image and the corresponding depth image initially, before returning to the original viewpoint. The watermark embedding and extracting algorithm are based on quantization. The watermarked image is attacked by the methods of JPEG compression, blurring, sharpening, and salt-pepper noise.
Robustness, payload, and imperceptibility of audio watermarking algorithms are contradictory design issues with high-level security of the watermark. In this study, the major issue in achieving high payload along with adequate robustness against challenging signal-processing attacks is addressed. Moreover, a security code has been strategically used for secure transmission of data, providing tamper detection at the receiver end. The high watermark payload in this work has been achieved by using the complementary features of third-level detailed coefficients of discrete wavelet transform where the human auditory system is not sensitive to alterations in the audio signal. To counter the watermark loss under challenging attacks at high payload, Daubechies wavelets that have an orthogonal property and provide smoother frequencies have been used, which can protect the data from loss under signal-processing attacks. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm has demonstrated adequate robustness against signal processing attacks at 4,884.1 bps. Among the evaluators, 87% have rated the proposed algorithm to be remarkable in terms of transparency.

Authentication of videos and images based on the content is becoming an important problem in information security. Unfortunately, previous studies lack the consideration of Kerckhoffs's principle in order to achieve this (i.e., a cryptosystem should be secure even if everything about the system, except the key, is public knowledge). In this paper, a solution to the problem of finding a relationship between a frame's index and its content is proposed based on the creative utilization of a robust manifold feature. The proposed solution is based on a novel semi-fragile watermarking scheme for H.264/AVC video content authentication. At first, the input I-frame is partitioned for feature extraction and watermark embedding. This is followed by the temporal feature extraction using the Isometric Mapping algorithm. The frame index is included in the feature to produce the temporal watermark. In order to improve security, the spatial watermark will be encrypted together with the temporal watermark. Finally, the resultant watermark is embedded into the Discrete Cosine Transform coefficients in the diagonal positions. At the receiver side, after watermark extraction and decryption, temporal tampering is detected through a mismatch between the frame index extracted from the temporal watermark and the observed frame index. Next, the feature is regenerate through temporal feature regeneration, and compared with the extracted feature. It is judged through the comparison whether the extracted temporal watermark is similar to that of the original watermarked video. Additionally, for spatial authentication, the tampered areas are located via the comparison between extracted and regenerated spatial features. Experimental results show that the proposed method is sensitive to intentional malicious attacks and modifications, whereas it is robust to legitimate manipulations, such as certain level of lossy compression, channel noise, Gaussian filtering and brightness adjustment. Through a comparison between the extracted frame index and the current frame index, the temporal tempering is identified. With the proposed scheme, a solution to the Kerckhoffs's principle problem is specified.

As multimedia information is spread over cyber networks, problems such as protection of legal rights and original proof of an information owner raise recently. Various image transformations of DCT, DFT and DWT have been used to embed a watermark as a token of ownership. Recently, SVD being used in the field of numerical analysis is additionally applied to the watermarking methods. A watermarking method is proposed in this paper using Gabor cosine and sine transform as well as SVD for embedding and extraction of watermarks for digital images. After delivering attacks such as noise addition, space transformation, filtering and compression on watermarked images, watermark extraction algorithm is performed using the proposed GCST-SVD method. Normalized correlation values are calculated to measure the similarity between embedded watermark and extracted one as the index of watermark performance. Also visual inspection for the extracted watermark images has been done. Watermark images are inserted into the lowest vertical ac frequency band. From the experimental results, the proposed watermarking method using the singular vectors of SVD shows large correlation values of 0.9 or more and visual features of an embedded watermark for various attacks.

The use of barcodes in mobile phones has become generalized, and barcodes are widely used in security-sensitive applications, including mobile payment and personal identification. Generally, images photographed by a mobile phone generate geometric distortion due to the shooting angle, resulting in low quality images. Embedding watermark for low quality images makes it difficult to satisfy transparency. To solve such problem, this paper focuses on the technique of embedding barcode images in the image taken by mobile phone and proposes barcode watermarking for protecting mobile-based ownership. The barcode watermark embedded in the image can be used to prove ownership since it is readable by a machine such as illegal copy.

Digital watermarking techniques are attracting attention as a proper solution to protect copyright for multimedia data. This paper proposes a new audio watermarking method based on Discrete Cosine Transformation (DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) for copyright protection. In our proposed watermarking method, the original audio is transformed into DCT domain and divided into two parts. Synchronization code is applied on the signal in first part and 2 levels DWT domain is applied on the signal in second part. The absolute value of DWT coefficient is divided into arbitrary number of segments and calculates the energy of each segment and middle peak. Watermarks are then embedded into each middle peak. Watermarks are extracted by performing the inverse operation of watermark embedding process. Experimental results show that the hidden watermark data is robust to re-sampling, low-pass filtering, re-quantization, MP3 compression, cropping, echo addition, delay, and pitch shifting, amplitude change. Performance analysis of the proposed scheme shows low error probability rates.
Most of existing watermarking schemes insert and extract a watermark, focusing on the visual conservation of an original image. However, existing watermarking schemes could be difficult for a watermark detection in case of various distortion caused by display-capture devices. Therefore, we propose a new display-capture based mobile watermarking scheme. The proposed watermarking scheme is a new concept for embedding a watermark, which uses the generated image instead of a given original image. For effective watermark decoding, we also present a method for detecting the background image whose error bit can not be corrected because of various heavy distortion and for avoiding it from the decoding process. For this scheme, we adopt distortion coefficients of camera calibration when we separate a background image from a captured image. For finding available correction bits of ECC through the decoding process, we capture 30,000 images and then calculate the separation ratio of a background image and the average error bits per an image. As experimental result, the separation ratio of a background image is about 96.5% in 30,000 captured image. And the false alarm ratio shows about $5.18{\times}10^{-4}$ in the separated background image. And also we can confirm the availability of real-time processing because the mean execution time is about 82ms per an image for capturing and decoding.
As a solution for copyright protection of digital multimedia contents, digital watermark technology is now drawing the attention. In this paper, we presented two novel audio watermarking algorithms as a solution for protecting unauthorized copy of digital audio. Proposed watermarking schemes include the psychoacoustic model of MPEG audio coding to achieve the perceptual transparency after watermark embedding and preprocessing procedure before correlation in watermark detection to extract copyright information without access to the original audio signal. Experimental results show that our watermarking scheme is robust to common signal Processing attacks and it Introduces no audible distortion after watermark insertion.
