In this paper, we have investigated on collection efficiency of fine particle of glass fiber-filter bag according to the surface treatment. The solution consisted of polytetrafluoroethylene(teflon), graphite powder, silicon resin and water was used as a basic surface treatment agent. Tensile strength of glass filter-bag increased with up to 3hrs and then decreased with surface treatment time. Tensile strength and initial modulus of the glass fiber-filter bag treated by iodine after basic surface treatment for 3hrs were lower than those of basic surface treatment for 3hrs, however collection efficiency and fracture strain were higher than those of basic surface treatment for 3hrs. Glass fiber-filter bag with lower initial modulus and more strain will be extend the durable period and the one treated by iodine after basic surface treatment 3or 3hrs is expected high collection efficiency of fine particle. This method makes it possible to manufacture glass fiber-filter bag of the optimum condition.

To prepare a durable softening water repellent, quaternized octadecyl methacrylate-2-diethyl-aminoethyl methacrylate as a mother resin and quaternized 1, 3-dioctadecyl-2, 7-dioxy-6, 8-di(2-hydroxyethyl)-1, 3, 6, 8-tetraazacyclodecane which increase the softening effect and the hydrostatic pressure blended with waxes and their emulsifier in various proportions to give water repellent PADWC. As the results of the measurement of water repellency, washable, tear strength and crease recovery to polyestercotton(P/C) blended fabrics treated with PADWC only or addition of textile finishing resin, the physical properties were increased. There was no significant lowering effect in water repellency when PADWC was treated the antistatic agent by the one-bath method, and the effect of water repellency by the adding the catalyst was studied. PADWC was confirmed as durable water repellent with the results of making little difference of water repellency as ${\pm}5$ point after and before washing.
The electric resistance and constant current were investigated on the nickel-thallium-phosphorus alloy deposits by electroless-plating. The Ni-Tl-P alloy deposits were achieved with a bath using sodium hypophosphit as the reducing agent and sodium citrate as the comlexing agent. The basic plating solution is composed of 0.1M NiSO$_4$, 0.005${\sim}$0.0IM Tl$_2$S0$_4$, 0.1${\sim}$O.2M sodium hypophosphite and 0.02${\sim}$O.IM sodium citrate and the plating condition were pH 5${\sim}$6, temperrature 80$_4$90${\circ}$C. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1) The crystal structure of deposit was amorphous structure as deposited state, became microcrystallized centering on Ni(111) plane by heat treatment at 200${\circ}$C, and grew as polycrystalline Ni, Ni$_3$P, Ni$_5$p$_2$,Tl, etc. by heat treatment higher than 350${\circ}$C. The grain size of plated deposits was grown up to 28.3~42.0nm by heat treatment for 1hour at 500${\circ}$C. 2) The electrical resistivity showed a comparatively high value of 192.5$_4$208.3 ${\mu}$${\Omega}$Cm and its thermal stability was great with resistivity value less than 0.22% in the thermal surroundings of 200${\circ}$C. 3) Ni-Tl-P alloy deposit showed such good constant current-making-effect in the variation of electric voltage, heat treatment temperature, and the composition of the deposit that it can be put to practical use as the matter of constant current device.

The study of our investigating and analyzing through experiments the performance on nonslip techniques, which has been nationally applied and represented, showed the following results. 1) In wearing shoes condition, regardless the shape of the surface and surface condition of the object, it satisfied the performance standard in cleaned and dried condition and the pulverulent body mixed liquid dispersed moisture condition. However, for the case of the non-slip agent treatment, not likely as the non-slip tape treatment case, the effect was not approved as it shows almost the same CSR as none treatment. 2) In bare foot condition, it satisfied the performance standard in most of the objects except for the Ceramic tile (A), Ceramic tile (B), pure and soapy water dispersed condition.

The water extracts of Samultang (Samul) has been used for treatment of ischemic heart and brain damage in Oriental traditional medicine. However, little is known about the mechanism by which the water extract of Samul rescues cells from oxidative damages in cisplatin-induced ototoxicity. Cisplatin is a widely used chemotherapeutic agent that is also highly ototoxic. This study was designed to investigate the protective effects of Samul on ciplatin-induced ototoxicity in HEI-OC1 auditory cells and organ of Corti explant culture. Cisplatin markedly decreased the viability of HEI-OC1 auditory cells. However, treatment of HEI-OC1 cells with Samul significantly reduced cisplatin-induced cell death and apoptotic characteristics through reduction of intracellular peroxide generation. Cisplatin induced cytotoxicity in isolated and cultured hair cell progenitors from postnatal rat cochleae. These progenitor cells are isolated from the lesser epithelial ridge (LER, or outer spiral sulcus cell) area of pre-plated neonatal rat cochlear segments. However, Samul completely protected the morphological changes of organ of Corti and LER. Taken together, these data suggest that the protective effects of the water extracts of Samul against cisplatin may be mediated by the reduction of intracellular peroxide generation.
This experiment was executed to investigate the effect of activation of veneer surface by oxidizing agents, hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid, on bonding characteristics of Malas(Homalium foetidum Benth) plywood, in which the effects of these oxidizing agents amount, pretreatment time, and pressing time and temperatue on shear strength of the plywood were examined and discussed. In this research the activation of veneer surface by oxidants was effective in raising shear strength but the difference in shear strength was not observed between hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid treatment. Hydrogen peroxide treatment, however, seemed to be more profitable to industrial application because of its lower concentration and easier handling than nitric acid. The bonding method by lignin-phenol adhesive through surface activation revealed inferior shear strength to phenol- and urea-formaldehyde adhesive but superior water resistance to urea-formaldehyde adhesive and this bonding method, in addition, have the advantage of lower cost compared with phenol-formaldehyde adhesive, Therefore, this bonding method by lignin-phenol adhesive through surface activation seemed to economical in manufacturing of water-resistant wood panel materials in future.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the osteogenic capacity of water extract of danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge). We have established in rat critical-sized calvarial defect model using the combination with collagen scaffold and danshen hydrophilic extract. All rats were extinguished at 8 weeks after bone graft surgery, and the bone regeneration ability of bone grafting sides was evaluated by plain radiography and micro-CT. These results revealed water extract of danshen had the potential to promote osteogenesis especially continuous oral administration with local treatment compared to one-shot local treatment. This compound may provide a new alternative agent for growth factors to promote bone healing and bone regeneration. In conclusion, these results suggest that danshen hydrophilic extract have the potential to promote osteogenesis in bone defects. Further studies about fusion technology with salvianolic acid B, peptides, growth factors, and scaffolds using of the combination of tissue engineering, cell engineering and mechanical engineering are needed.
The Three months subacute toxicity of water soluble dimethyl dimethoxy biphenylate derivative (DDB-S), newly formulated therapeutic agent for hepatitis, was invesgated in SD rats. The body weight and clinical signs were observed after intravenous injection of DDBs at doses of 57, 75 and 100 mg/kg/day for three months. Decrease in motor activity and tremor were observed above 75mg/kg treated groups. Statistically significant changes at serum biochemical analysis were found in some group, how-ever, those changes were within the normal range and had no relationship with dosage. There was no abnormal morphological and pathological findings in relation to DDB-S treatment. The no observable adverse effect level of DDB-S in rats was estimated to be 57 mg/kg/day in this study.
Mori Folium(MF) methanol extract and its water soluble fraction showed significant blood glucose lowering effects alloxan-induced hyperglycemic mice. Their hypoglycemic activities seemed to nothing to do with the stimulation of insulin release or insulin-like action, according to our experiments. On the other hand, MF prevents the hyperglycemic responses from an oral load of starch and glucose in vivo. Since complex carbohydrates present in a diet must be degraded to monosaccharides by $\alpha$-glucohydrolase before being absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, it is thought that blood glucose lowering effects of MF may be related to the inhibition of $\alpha$-glucohydrolase catalyzed enzymatic reaction. In addition, experiments that examined an effect of MF water soluble fraction on gastrointestinal movement showed no significant GI movement inhibitory effect. In conclusion, MF water soluble fraction may possess active component which is a potential candidate as an orally active agent for the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
The successful application of cleaning protocols is vital for optimized filtration processes. A series of experiments with an ultrafiltration ceramic tubular membrane were carried out for the foulants dextran and carboxymethyl cellulose. Firstly, the impact on fouling of concentration changes was investigated with the increase in resistance being used as the key parameter. In the second phase, removal of reversible fouling was also investigated by employing intermittent rinsing consisting of a cold water rinse followed by a hot one. A comparative analysis for both foulants is reported. Across a range of concentrations and for both foulants, the reduction in resistance due to rinsing was found to depend upon concentration (C); it changed as $C^n$ where n was found to be 0.3. A plausible semi-theoretical explanation is given. Thirdly, for both foulants, the application of a combination of strong alkaline solutions with oxidizing agent (mainly sodium hypochlorite) followed by acid was found to be appropriate for cleaning of the ceramic membrane. The effect of increased temperature for cleaning agents followed by a warm water rinse contributed positively to the cleaning capability.
