The Remediation Characteristics of Natural Soil according to ElectroKinetic Remediation Systems under Unsaturated Conditions (불포화 자연토의 동전기 시스템에 따른 정화 특성)

  • A serious of EK remediation tests on contaminated soil are performed under unsaturated conditions and analyzed for electrical potential, water content, pH and so on. The results indicated that electrical potential and pH distributions in the sample are dependent on the amount and inward/outward flow of hydrogen ion. Specially, for the closed system the water content is largely decreased with the flow of hydrogen. The maximum electrical conductivity is measured at the catholyte of CEM(Sealing) test and directly related to the remedial efficiency. Although pHs in the region near to the anode are similarly developed, the different concentration of lead is measured with the electrical gradient contrary to the lead concentration dependent on pH within the sample.

  • This study aims to study the effect of HRT and influent concentration on swine wastewater treatment using UASB(Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket). Sample was separately collected from the piggery farm; urine(liquid part) and solid part to compare their treatment characteristics. Reactors were used two UASB(3.2 L) in this research under constant temperature ($35^{\circ}C$). Their operating conditions were as follows; Run 1(UASB ; HRT 6-days, 1 cycle/d), Run 2(UASB ; HRT 3-days, 1 cycle/d). Biogas was collected and analyzed using GC(HP-6890). By comparing the results of Run 1 and Run 2, the effect of HRT was investigated. The treatment efficiency of Run 1 which had longer HRT was higher than that of Run 2 in both solid and liquid parts of piggery sample. Methane content in collected biogas is more than 80%.

  • Concrete has cracks from shrinkage that necessarily result from in hardening process. Shrinkage-reduced concrete developed for crack reduction was utilized at a sample construction project. As a result, it is confirmed that crack initation ratio was remarkably reduced when compared to the case of normal concrete utilization. Additional sample project is supposed to use delay joints as well as srinkage-reduced concrete. Subsequently, the result will be reported. The greatest factor which affects in drying shrinkage is unit quantity of water. However, there are a lot off difficulties in field supervision because proper measuring means is not presented in present standard. Therfore, problems depending on ready-mixed concrete concrete companies should be improved by preparing the related standard assoon as possible.

Effects of Crataegii Fructus on the Diet-induced Hyperlipidemia in Rats (산사(山揸)가 흰쥐의 식이성 고지혈증(高脂血症)에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Crataegii Fructus on the diet-induced hyperlipidemia in rats. Rats were divided into 4 groups, normal group(supplied enough water and feeds only), high fat diet administered group(supplied high fat diet for 4 weeks, Control group) and Crataegii Fructus administered group(supplied high fat diet and Crataegii Fructus lyophilization extract for 4 weeks, 397.3 mg/kg(rat) in sample A, 662.5 mg/kg(rat) in sample B). Body weight, liver weight and serum lipid levels were evaluated. The water extract of Crataegii Fructus decreased liver weight and triglyceride in high fat diet induced hyperlipidemia in rats, and increased HDL-cholesterol.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Astragali Radix on the diet-induced hyperlipidemia in rats. Hyperlipedemia was induced in rats with high fat diet. Rats were divided into 4 groups, normal group(supplied enough water and feeds only), high fat diet administered group(supplied high fat diet for 4 weeks, Control group) and Astragali Radix administered group(supplied high fat diet and Astragali Radix lyophilization extract for 4 weeks, 178.6 mg/kg(rat) in sample A, 297.8 mg/kg(rat) in sample B). Body weight, liver weight and serum lipid levels were evaluated. The water extract of Astragali Radix decreased body weight, liver weight, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride and phospolipid in high fat diet induced hyperlipidemia in rats, and increased HDL-cholesterol.

Removal of microcystin by chlorination (염소처리에 의한 Microcystin의 제거)

  • On this study, removal method for microcystin, toxic substance released from the blue-green algae, using chloride was investigated. 82 ~ 98% of Microsystin were removed within 1 hr when sample had microsystin only. However, if the sample had algae cell removal efficiency was decreased to 50%, except the concentration of chloride $10Cl-mg/{\ell}$. As a result, intermediate-chlorination which dose chloride after coagulation process is considered the optimum method for the removal of microcystin because most of algae cell could remove during the coagulation process.

Properties of Phenolic Compounds in Unripened Apples (미숙사과의 페놀계 화합물의 특성)

  • Abundant amounts of unripe apples, which were picked out before maturation, were abolished every year fer wastes. Since unripen apples are known to be rich in functional components, the ultimate objective of this research was to utilize them for food resources. The concentrations of polyphenols in hot water extract were the lowest, those in 75% acetone extract the highest. Concentrations of polyphenols in 5/30 sample were 3.5 times higher than those in 6/30 sample regardless of solvents used for extraction. The degree of condensation of flavanolic tannins in the peel was lower than those of the other parts, and the hot water extract was more condensed than the acetone extract. The amount of total flavonoids in the peel and 5/30 samples were 2.7 and 5.0 times higher than those of the flesh and 6/30 samples, respectively.

The Effect on Gas Adsoption Efficiency for Various Surface Characteristics (표면특성에 따른 물맺힘 특성이 가스흡착성에 미치는 영향)

  • The gas adsorption efficiency for various surfaces with three different characteristics has been reviewed. The dimethyl disulfide gas has been used to investigate characteristics of gas adsorption for different surface characteristics such as plasma treated, lacquer coated and untreated. Three different surfaces were evaluated in dry conditions initially and tested at wet surface conditions with spraying water to evaluate the gas adsorption efficiency which usually occurred at defrost cycles. The results show that the gas adsorption of the plasma treated sample has better performance than others. The lacquer coated and untreated samples showed the similar result, but the lacquer coated sample showed a slightly better performance.

  • In this research, the blast-furnace slag powder using the hydrometer also attempted to analysis the influence factor due to the temperature change of water and sample, and the number of upside down turns at the time of rapid evaluation. As a result, the influence of the number of turn was not large, but was the temperature of the water and sample are greatly affected.
