  • This technology is a water leak repair technology using composite materials of concrete structures that block leakage of structures by injecting rapid microcement into the face of underground concrete to block water and injecting flexible glycidylacrylate. Rapid micro cement system repair materials are mixed with fine fibers to improve the flexural sensitivity of the material and to form a layer that blocks stabilized water at the back of the structure by allowing rapid and tight spatial filling during injection with high cohesion The glycidylacrylate repair material can control the expansion rate, and the external stress also has the characteristic that the form of the material is not destroyed or separated, which can also be applied to vibrating induced structures that produce repetitive fatigue loads, and has an effective durability in saline, alkali, acid (chloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid).

  • The characteristics of VRLA (valve regulated Iead-acid) battery with the tubular positive plate and gel type electrolyte were examined as a function of active material filling density. The filling density of positive plate was 3.2 g/mL, 3.4 g/mL, and 3.6 g/mL, respectively. These VRLA batteries were cycled with 100% DOD (depth of discharge) at the $C_5/5$ rate, followed by IU-type recharge with $I_{max}=0.2C_{10}/10$ and a final voltage V=2.40 V/cell. The test was performed in a thermostatic room at $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The result indicated that the initial capacity was independent of active material filling density, i.e., the highest initial capacity was 3.4 g/mL of filling density and the lowest was 3.6 g/mL. On aspect of the cycle-life performance of the VRLA battery, the filling density of 3.6 g/mL was similar to that of 3.4 g/mL in the positive plate, and both were higher than that of 3.2 g/mL. Water-loss and degradation of the VRLA battery were decreased according to an increase of the filling density in the positive plate. The optimum filling density of the active material was 3.4~3.6 g/mL.

  • This study was conducted to estimate the effect of the drought on the changes of chlorophyll, protein and proline content of upper three leaves, and the grain yield components of barley plant (CV. baegdong) subjected to water stress at four stages: late vegetative, boot, anthesis early grain filling. 1. In comparison with leaf posititions in water stress, the first leaf below flag leaf maintained the highest relative turgidity, chlorophyll and protein content and showed the least proline accumulation. And, in terms of growth stages in water stress, chlorophyll was shown to be highest at anthesis stage, protein being highest at boot stage and proline being least at boot stage. 2. In boot stages, culm and spike length, and Number of grains per spike were remarkably decreased. And the weight of 1000 grains was at least level in the early grain filling stage, and also the grain size was comparatively decreased at boot and two following stages. 3. The protein content of grain by water stress, apart from early grain filling stage, was not significantly affected by water stress at different growth stages. 4. The rate of sterility was particularly increased at boot and anthesis stages. 5. It was eventually concluded that the boot stage among four growth stages, and the flag leaf in 3 leaf positions were mostly damaged by water stress at reproductive growth stage.

  • Non-thermal plasma processing using a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) has been investigated as an alternative method for the degradation of non-biodegradable organic compounds in wastewater. The active species such as OH radical, produced by the electrical discharge may play an important role in degrading organic compound in water. The degradation of N, N-Dimethyl-4-nitrosoaniline (RNO) was investigated as an indicator of the generation of OH radical. The DBD plasma reactor of this study consisted of a plasma reactor, recycling pump, power supply and reservoir. The effect of diameter of external reactor (15 ~ 40 mm), width of ground electrode (2.5 ~ 30 cm), shape (pipe, spring) and material (copper, stainless steel and titanium) of ground electrode, water circulation rate (3.1 ~ 54.8 cm/s), air flow rate (0.5 ~ 3.0 L/min) and ratio of packing material (0 ~ 100 %) were evaluated. The experimental results showed that shape and materials of ground were not influenced the RNO degradation. Optimum diameter of external reactor, water circulation rate and air flow rate for RNO degradation were 30 mm, 25.4 cm/s and 4 L/min, respectively. Ground electrode length to get the maximum RNO degradation was 30 cm, which was same as reactor length. Filling up of glass beads decreased the RNO degradation. Among the experimented parameters, air flow rate was most important parameters which are influenced the decomposition of RNO.

  • Both the weighing bridge and the diverter system is a important component in achieving a high accuracy liquid flow rate standard using a static gravimetric method. The weighing bridge is a tank which weighing collected flow with a load cells. The diverter is a moving device used to direct flow alternately along its normal course(by pass) or towards the weighing tank. The time needed for collection into the weighing tank is measured using a timer. So it is important to the diversion period is sufficiently fast and triggering point of timer which is determined the filling time. On this studies show that the measurement deviation of load cell and uncertainty of diverter system for changing diversion speed and triggering point was estimated in accordance with Guide to The Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement(ISO).

  • On the assessment results of the non-point source pollutant removability of bio-block using waste sewage sludge, at the reactor's initial operation stage, the removal efficiency of COD was slightly unstable. However, after the reactor was stabilized, the COD removal efficiency was higher in the reactor filled with bio-blocks compared to the reactor filled with broken stones. In terms of nitrogen and phosphorus, their removal efficiency was unstable at the initial stage of the reactor operation. This phenomenon was investigated through the bio-block elution experiments. Results indicated that nitrogen and phosphorus were eluted from the bio-blocks affecting their removal at the initial operation. Furthermore, based on elution tests conducted after the dry ashing of the waste sewage sludge, part of the nitrogen and phosphorus was eluted similar to the bio-block elution test results, although considerable amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus were reduced compared to the sludge cake. Prior to the use of the waste sewage sludge bio-blocks as a filter medium to remove non-point source pollutants, a stabilization period of 10 days was required. After the stabilization process, results showed similar characteristics as general aggregates. Moreover, to use the bio-block as a filter medium for the non-point pollutant removal, the filling ratio of 75% was the most suitable as it resulted in the highest nitrogen removal efficiency after the stabilization. The results of this study suggested that waste sewage sludge can be suitably recycled as a mixed raw material for the bio-blocks, with satisfactory application as a filter medium in artificial wetlands, stormwater runoff problems, stream water pollutants to eliminate non-point source pollutants.

  • When we looked at the seasonal food dregs of the eastern side of gangwondo, gangneung city's summer and winter food dregs showed 25.9 and 25.8% respectively due to the presence of beach areas and ski resorts. Sokcho city showed 28.12% in summer and yangyang gun's summer food dregs showed 40.2%. Yangyang gun's august food dregs showed 2.7 times larger than annual average amount. Outlook density showed regional characteristics. Data showed that food dregs' amount rate has been reduced gradually from 2005 because of the prohibition of direct filling up. As a result of compositions analysis, the eastern side of gangwondo's water fraction of living dregs were lower than that of chuncheon city where is located at the gangwondo's inland area. chuncheon city's data showed residential areas 53.5%, community areas 56.8% and commercial areas 55.6%. These discrepancies caused by the characteristics of dregs discharge type and climate. The caloric value of dregs has been increased incrementally after the ban of food dregs' direct filling up. Therefore, heating value of the dregs exceeds the existing furnace design spec and it can cause high caloric value problems, so we need additional research to solve these problems.

  • Rice cultivar 'Janganbyeo' was cultivated by irrigating the saline waters of high salinity (3.0%) and medium saliniy (1.5%) for 4 days, and low salinity (0.5%) for 30 days at tillering, early meiosis and heading stage. Leaf injury due to salinity was most severe at tillering stage in 1999, but at heading stage in 2000. Heading date was delayed by 1 to 5 days by treatment of saline waters only at tillering stage. Culm length and panicle length were most severely shortened by treatment at early meiosis stage. Yield and yield components except for panicle number were decreased most by high salinity treatment regardless of growth stages. In particular, ripening ratio and grain weight among the yield components were decreased most conspicuously by the saline water treatment regardless of salinity and growth stage. Regarding grain weight grain-filling rate and duration, there is no remarked difference among the concentrations and treatment durations of saline water at tillering stage. However, their reductions were very different among the concentrations and treatment durations of saline water at early meiosis stage, being greatest when treated with high salinity for 4 days and followed by low salinity for 30 days. Also their reductions were very severe only when treated with high salinity for 4 days at heading stage.

  • This paper proposes a utility-based data rate allocation algorithm to provide high-quality mobile video streaming over femtocell networks. We first derive a utility function to calculate the optimal data rates for maximizing the aggregate utilities of all mobile users in the femtocell. The total sum of optimal data rates is limited by the link capacity of the backhaul connections. Furthermore, electromagnetic cross-talk poses a serious problem for the backhaul connections, and its influence passes on to mobile users, as well as causing data rate degradation in the femtocell networks. We also have studied a fixed margin iterative water-filling algorithm to achieve the target data rate of each backhaul connection as a counter-measure to the cross-talk problem. The results of our simulation show that the algorithm is capable of minimizing the transmission power of backhaul connections while guaranteeing a high overall quality of service for all users of the same binder. In particular, it can provide the target data rate required to maximize user satisfaction with the mobile video streaming service over the femtocell networks.

  • Excessive soil water in paddy field induces growth losses during the vegetative stages of soybean plants. Our objectives were to know growth responses of soybean as affected by the level of ridge heights. A field experiment was conducted at the Research Farm of Korea University near Seoul in 1996. Ten cultivars of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) were planted at the ridge heights of 10, 30, and 50cm in paddy soil on 27 June. Total dry matter accumulation at the 10cm ridge height was severely decreased until the growth stage of R5 as compared to the ridge heights of 30 and 50cm, and this decrement was mainly due to both reduced leaf and stem dry weights. However, seed dry weight was not significantly decreased at the lower ridge height with the increment of harvest index. Cultivar differences were found on seed dry weight, crop growth rate from R1 to R5, and leaf/stem ratio of R5. From the above results, soybean growth responses to excessive soil water in paddy field were different between seed filling stage and late vegetative to early reproductive growth stages.
