A study has been conducted to clarify the effect of watery vapor concentration in hot ambient on droplet evaporation. Droplets of water, ethanol, n-hexadecaneand n-heptane were used in this experimental study. Ambient conditions are fixed at 470 K in temperature, 0.1 MPa in pressure and 2 m/s in velocity of ambient air. Watery vapor concentration was changed 0%~40% by 10% by add water to air. To obtain the time histories of droplet diameter after exposed in ambient, a suspended droplet in hot and humid ambient stream was synchronized with a back flash light, and enlarged droplet images were taken by a CCD camera. The evaporation rate constant of water droplet decreases slightly with the vapor concentration because diffusion velocity reduction of droplet vapor occurs on the surface. The values of ethanol and n-heptane droplet actively increase by effect that water from condensation of vapor flows into the droplet. The evaporation rate constant of n-hexadecane which has higher boiling point than water increases within around 30% of the concentration.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of hydrophilicity of the fiber on the water vapor transport properties of the fabric by using double layered fabrics of natural and synthetic fibers such as cotton, wool, nylon, dacron, orlon and polypropylene. Wickability and absorption rate were measured to determine the absorbancy of the fabrics. Dynamic and steady state water vapor transport properties were measured by cobaltous chloride method and evaporation method, respectively. Absorption was in the order of orlon> cotton > wool > nylon > polypropylene > dacron. Dynamic surface wetness of synthetic fabrics were faster than that of natural fabrics. For the double layered fabrics, higher water vapor transport was resulted when the natural fabric was exposed to lower vapor pressure and synthetic fabric was exposed to higher vapor pressure than when the fabrics were layered the other way around. Opposite result was obtained for orlon, which suggested that when the fabric of high absorbancy is exposed to the environment and lower absorbancy is to the skin, higher water vapor transpont could be resulted.
The purpose of this study was to examine the performance and properties of sports wear that have the excellent wearing sensation and are in harmony with the functions of human bodies. With four kind(sample A, B, C, D) of materials which have different water vapor transmission, the physiological responses of human bodies and the changes of subjective sensations were studied through the actual aerobic sports program at $20^{\circ}C$, 60%R.H. The forehead temperature had the minimal variation among the local skin temperatures. The fabrics of low water vapor transmission demonstrated high breast temperature. There are significant differences among materials depending on the humidity in clothes(especially back and breast), which was about 6 % for breast and about 14 % for back. The order of loss in body weight was in the opposite direction to that of water vapor transmission for each material.

Since the accuracy of precipitable/integrated water vapor estimates from GNSS measurements is proportional to the accuracy of water vapor Weighted Mean Temperature Model (WMTM), the WMTM is a significant formulation in the retrieval of precipitable water vapor from zenith wet delay of GNSS signal. The purpose of this paper is to develop available the WMTM to apply for GNSS meteorology in the region of Algeria, by using the Algerian radiosonde network in the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). It can be concluded that the available GNSS precipitable water vapor which is retrieved by the developed Algerian Weighted Mean Temperature Equation (AWMTE) can be useful technique for sensing of water vapor in the Algeria, after Algerian Continuously Operating Reference System (CORS) will be constructed.
The values of brightness temperature difference (BTD) between 11um and 12um infrared channels may reflect amounts of low-level water vapor and cloud types due to the different absorptivity for water vapor between two channels. A simple method of classifying cloud types at night was proposed. Two-dimensional histograms of brightness temperature of the 11um channel and the BTD between the split window data over subareas around characteristic clouds such as Cb(cumulonimbus), Ci(cirrus), and Sc(stratocumulus) was constructed. Cb, Ci and Sc can be classified by seleting appropriate thresholds in the two-dimensional histograms. And we can see amounts of low-level water vapor in clear area as well as cloud types in cloudy area in the BTD image. The map of cloud types and low-level water vapor generated by this method was compared with 850hPa and 1000hPa relative humidity(%) of numerical analysis data and nephanalysis chart. The comparisons showed reasonable agreement.
In this study, in order to investigate how consecutive treatments of glass surface with HF acid and water vapor/Ar plasma affect the quality of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane self-assembled monolayer (APS-SAM), poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) thin films were vapor phase-polymerized immediately after spin coating of FeCl3 and poly-urethane diol-mixed oxidant solution on the monolayer surfaces prepared at various treatment conditions. For the film characterization, various poweful tools were used, e.g., FE-SEM, an optical microscope, four point probe, and a contact angle analyzer. The characterization revealed that a well prepared APS-SAM on a glass surface treated with water vapor/Ar plasma is very useful for uniform coating of FeCl3 and DUDO mixed oxidant solution, regardless of HF treatment. On the other hand, a bare glass surface without APS-SAM but treated with HF and water vapor/Ar plasma generally led to a very poor oxidant film. As a result, PEDOT films vapor phase-polymerized on APS-SAM surfaces are far superior to those on bare glass surfaces in the quality and electrical characteristics aspects.

A numerical model which simulates the simultaneous heat and mass transfer within a vertical tube GAX absorber was developed. The ammonia vapor and the solution liquid are in counter-current flow, and the hydronic fluid flows counter to the solution liquid. The film thickness and the velocity distribution of the liquid film were obtained by matching the shear stress at the liquid-vapor interface. Two-dimensional diffusion and energy equations were solved in the liquid film to give the temperature and concentration, and a modified Colburn-Drew analysis was used for the vapor phase to determine the heat and mass fluxes at the liquid-vapor interface. The model was applied to a GAX absorber to investigate the absorption rates, temperature and concentration profiles, and mass flow rates of liquid and vapor phases. It was shown that the mass flux of water was negligible compared with that of ammonia except the region near the liquid inlet. Ammonia absorption rate increases rapidly near the liquid inlet and decrease slowly. Both the absorption rate of ammonia vapor and the desorption rate of water near the liquid inlet increase as the vapor mass flow rate increases, but the mass fluxes of the ammonia and the water near the liquid outlet decrease as the mass flow rate of the vapor increases.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of geometrical structure on the moisture transport properties of nonwoven batting materials. Two types of nonwovens were used such as single and double layered nonwovens. Steady and dynamic state water vapor transport properties were measured by absorption, evaporation and cobaltous chloride method respectively. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Geometrical structure affected water vapor evaporation, but there were no differences between single and double layered nonwovens in moisture absorption. Thickness and air permeability were influencing factor on water vapor transport rate. 2) Directionality of double layered nonwoven was observed both in steady and dynamic state moisture transport. There were differences between upper and lower layer of double layered nonwoven both in moisture absorption rate and color change by cobaltous chloride method. 3) In dynamic state of water vapor transport rate, single layered nonwoven reached more rapidly at the established relative humidity. It was confirmed that geometrical structure affected water vapor evaporation and hydrophilicity of fiber affected moisture absorption because there were much more water vapor transport rate by evaporation than absorption within the same period of time.
This study investigated water vapor permeability of the 73 breathable fabrics for sports-wear according to the materials, finishing methods and fabric structural parameters. The water vapor permeability by KS K 0594 method of PET breathable fabric was superior than that of nylon one, in addition, water vapor permeability of coated or laminated breathable fabrics were higher than those of hot melt or dot laminated fabrics. The water vapor permeability of breathable fabric was dependent on the thickness, weight and density, which was consistent with measuring method. However, water vapor permeability according to materials and finishing method showed different results according to measuring method. The correlation coefficient of WVP of PET breathable fabrics between ISO and KS K measuring methods was -0.83 and the correlation coefficient of WVP of coated breathable fabrics was -0.72 and -0.71 for KS K and ASTM and -0.72 for KS K and ISO in hot melt laminated breathable fabrics. According to regression analysis, WVP of PET breathable fabric by both KSK and ISO measuring methods was highly dependent upon on the density and weight. In addition, WVP of hot melt laminated breathable fabric was highly dependent upon thickness, weight and density. Therefore, relevant measuring method for WVP of breathable fabrics has to be adopted to measure precise breathability.
