  • Application of the Asian ladybird (Harmonia axyridis) to control several species of aphids in the plastic green houses in mind, control effects of aphid populations regulated by the Asian ladybird were observed. The green peach aphid, the turnip aphid, and the cotton aphid were present on mustard plants, Angelia utlis, ornamental kales, and egg plants at greenhouses in spring, summer, and winter. Adults and larvae of the Asian ladybird used in experiments were collected from aggregated sites at Taejon in the autumn and reared on the cotton aphid in the laboratory. In winter, more number of adults and larvae of ladybirds than in other seasons were needed to control aphid population in successively double plastic greenhouses with supplied subterranean water for keeping warmth. In spring and summer, it was possible to keep the aphid populations low when necessary by manipulating ladybird populations according to the density of aphids. On the other hand, the innate increasing rate of aphid, the aphid population density at the time of applying ladybird, the predacious ability of ladybird at specific developmental stages, and needed periods should be taken into account to control aphids. In addition, the environmental factors, for example, optimum temperature and humidity should be considered to be biologically effective when ladybirds are released to greenhouses.

  • The research was carried out for prediction of the potential habitats of warm-temperate evergreen broad-leaved trees under the current climate(1961~1990) and three climate change scenario(2081~2100) (CCCMA-A2, CSIRO-A2 and HADCM3-A2) using classification tree(CT) model. Presence/absence records of warm-temperate evergreen broad-leaved trees were extracted from actual distribution data as response variables, and four climatic variables (warmth index, WI; minimum temperature of the coldest month, TMC; summer precipitation, PRS; and winter precipitation, PRW) were used as predictor variables. Potential habitats(PH) was predicted 28,230$km^2$ under the current climate and 77,140~89,285$km^2$ under the three climate change scenarios. The PH masked by land use(PHLU) was predicted 8,274$km^2$ and the proportion of PHLU within PH was 29.3% under the current climate. The PH masked by land use(PHLU) was predicted 35,177~45,170$km^2$ and increased 26.9~36.9% under the three climate change scenarios. The expansion of warm-temperate evergreen broad-leaved trees by climate change progressed habitat fragmentation by restriction of land use. The habitats increase of warm-temperate evergreen broad-leaved trees had been expected competitive with warm-temperate deciduous broadleaf forest and suggested the expand and northward shift of warm-temperate evergreen broad-leaved forest zone.

  • This research was performed to identify the components and types of comfort foods and to verify gender differences on choosing comfort food in various emotional states. The total of 425 Korean college students participated in this study. The results are as follows. First, most students rated foods that give warmth and relaxation, foods that are reminiscent of happy memories, food that tastes good, were rated as types of comfort foods. On the other hand, external condition and fast food were less likely to be rated as a comfort food. Second, male students reported meat dishes, stew or soup, and alcohol as comfort foods whereas female students reported stew or soup, fruit or vegetable, and meat dishes as comfort foods. Third, the students chose different comfort food in different emotional states. In negative emotions, most students chose alcohol, chocolate, hot (spicy) food, and drinks as a comfort food. But in positive emotions, most students chose chicken as comfort foods. While male students chose alcohol as high ranking comfort food, female students chose various foods as their comfort food. The limitations of this study and suggestions for future studies were discussed.

  • Drawing from the Korean Child and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS), this study examined the changes in romantic relationship engagement among Korean adolescents across the country over a three-year period and the effects of the individual, familial, and school characteristics on the experience. Panel logit analysis showed that Korean adolescents were more likely to be engaged in a romantic relationship as they became older. Male adolescents were more likely than their female counterparts to have a romantic partner. The higher scores of self-esteem increased the likelihood of adolescents to be in a romantic relationship. On the other hand, having an opposite-sex sibling, the level of parental warmth, and annual household income did not have a significant relationship with the chance of romantic relationship engagement. On the contrary, all school-related variables were statistically related to the odds of being in a romantic relationship. Going to a sex-mixed school increased the odds, whereas academic adjustment and conformity to school rules decreased the likelihood. In addition, the positive relationships with schoolmates and teachers were associated with a higher chance of having a romantic partner. Based on these findings, the implications, limitations, and future research directions were also suggested.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate vegetation characteristics of evergreen broad-leaved forests in the area of Duryunsan Provincial Park, where the deciduous broad-leaved trees and evergreen broad-leaved trees are mixed and thus had a high botanical value. To investigate the vegetation characteristics, we installed 40 quadrats with an area of $100m^2$ each for survey and analysis. Haenam-gun, where the Duryunsan Provincial Park is located, is a warm-temperate forest region. The meteorological data for the past 40 years showed a coldness index of $-8^{\circ}C$, a monthly warmth index of $109.2^{\circ}C$, and annual mean precipitation of 1,310.5mm, indicating it is an ideal habitat for the distribution of evergreen broad-leaved forest. The results of community classification based on TWINSPAN showed three categories of vegetation communities in the surveyed region: Quercus acuta community-I, Q. acuta community-II, and Neolitsea sericea-Aphananthe aspera community. In the evergreen broad-leaved forest in the Duryunsan Provincial Park, Q. acuta dominant in the canopy were expanding their presence in the understory. In addition to the Q. acuta, N. sericea and Cinnamomum yabunikkei, which are evergreen broad-leaved trees of the canopy, were found in all layers. The deciduous broad-leaved trees such as Q. variabilis, Q. serrata, and Carpinus tschonoskii were culled, and the transition to Q. acuta evergreen broad-leaved trees was ongoing. N. sericea community appeared locally. The species diversity index of N. sericea-A. aspera community was lower at 1.0798 than that of Q. acuta Community-I at 1.3208 and Q. acuta Community-II at 1.4916.

  • Previous works have observed that persons who have experienced social exclusion have lower perceptions of body temperature and environmental temperature, and seek physical warmth such as warm drinks and warm water shower. The present study aimed to expand the results of these previous works to the dimensions of color emotions or color symbols. Hence, four experiments were conducted in which pictures of people with warm or cold colors applied to them were shown to the subjects, who were asked to evaluate the people in the pictures to determine whether their preferences changed depending on their perception of social exclusion. The results showed that the subjects with perceived social exclusion had stronger preferences for people in warm colors over those in cold colors, but the subjects without perceived social exclusion had no differences in their preferences for the people in the two types of colors. This study is significant in that it expanded the compensation hypothesis, which states that people try to compensate their psychological loss by pursuing external goals from the physical dimension to the emotional and symbolic dimensions. Furthermore, this study has implications in that it proposes the need for warm emotions in places where people who have experienced social exclusion are treated, such as psychological counseling centers.

  • In order to examine the type of PAI profile for criminally charged juvenile offenders, the study sought to find out personality types and behavioral characteristics of 251 juvenile offenders and 173 ordinary adolescents from 2018-2020. Looking at the overall profiles of juvenile offenders and ordinary adolescents, we found differences in Infrequency(INF), Mania(MAN), Antisocial Features(ANT), Alcohol problems(ALC), Drug problems(DRG), Aggression (AGG), and Dominance(DOM) and Warmth(WRM). Based on these results, we perform clustering as factors Antisocial features(ANT), Aggression(AGG), and Dominance (DOM) with an average difference of more than five points. It was classified as Cluster 1 with a high percentage of adolescents and Cluster 2 with a high percentage of juvenile offenders, and Cluster 1 was named as a defense group because it showed a similar model to the profile of ordinary adolescents. The profile type of cluster 2 was named externalization, which can be represented as an externalization group. The results were similar to previous studies, and the profile type of juvenile offenders has higher overall clinical scale than that of ordinary adolescents, indicating behavioral problems. Continued research on juvenile offenders could lead to understanding of youth as well as juvenile offenders.

  • Green houses provide a more conditioned and warmer environment than the outside environment due to insulation. Currently used insulation materials include soft film (PVC, PE, EVA), foamed PE sheet, non-woven fabric, reflective film, and multi-layer insulation curtain, but there are many disadvantages and to compensate for this, silica aerogel insulation material with excellent warmth, light weight, and small volume Research using is in progress. In this study, the temperature change of the quadruple-structure green house and the temperature change in the dual-structure green house of soft film and silica airgel were investigated. The daytime temperature change was highest in A and A2 (soft film) at 10 to 16:00 after sunrise, but showed the lowest temperature at 17 to 18:00, which is the sunset time, showing the greatest change. The airgels of D and D2 showed the smallest change in temperature after sunrise and right after sunset. That is, it can be said that the airgel is hardly affected by external temperature. The temperature change at night was highest in D and D2 (aerogel) for both quadruple and dual structures. The temperature at night was measured higher in the quadruple structure than in the double structure. As for the ratio of the internal temperature to the external temperature for the quadruple structure and the double structure, D (aerogel) was not affected by the external temperature during the day in the quadruple structure and the double structure. D (Aerogel) seems to be able to reduce the damage caused by high temperatures in summer due to the high thermal insulation effect of the airgel, as the temperature rises above 4℃ at night. And in winter, it helps to save heating costs due to less heat emitted to the outside.

  • Given the prevalence of violence in Ukrainian families, measures to prevent parental abusive treatment against children are urgent. It is important to study today's youth awareness about violence within families in order to enhance a culture of engagement with spouses and children in future. The aim of the study is to examine students' reflective experiences and their attitudes towards forms, frequency, causes and effects of parental abusive treatment. During the research the following methods were used step-by-step: theoretical analyses of scientific resources, anonymous questionnaire, quantitative and correlation analyses. According to result of survey 98 students who were interviewed, none of them fell victim of sexual abuse in their families. However, more than a half (51%) of the students surveyed experienced some forms of parental physical punishment. All the interviewed students encountered psychological cases of parental violence. The mostprevalent forms of parental abuse among the interviewees are criticism, negative comparison, emotional detachment, arrogance, intimidation, blackmail and humiliation. The most prevalent consequences of parental abuse among students are anxiety, low self-esteem, insecurity, impatience, suspiciousness, constraint in communication. Students agree that budget limitations, forced labor, criticism, spanking, emotional detachment, ignoring type of communication, reproach, blackmail are acceptable methods of punishment to use when raising their own children. These results clearly demonstrate the problem of the impact of parental abuse on children and its consequences in the future. A virtual dimension of the actualized problem is considered, namely: - virtualization of aggression and cruelty in the postmodern world. - the level of determining the factor of cruelty from the space of virtual culture. - the mirror image of everyday cruelty in the virtual environment; - the phenomenon of video games as a source and context of representation of the factor of cruelty in behavioral realities; - cybercrime as a virtualized result of cruelty in family and everyday realities. - futurological perspectives of virtualization of cruelty in communicative culture in general and in family relations in particular. The postmodern world is fundamentally different from the traditions and culture of the past, primarily due to the development of computer technologies and the virtualization of life in general. So, for example, virtual communities have become, in a certain way, another world, a second reality of life in general. And certain behavioral factors, in particular cruelty in the private environment, became a projection of such a phenomenon as cybercrime. Video games are a unique modern phenomenon, which multipolarly absorb all facets of human potential, communicative tendencies, behavioral and characterological factors, from the warmth of interpersonal relationships to the extreme degree of cruelty.
