  • This study was proceeded as follows. Firstly, the plan type of the ward of korean hospitals does not correspond to team nursing method, but that contains this. So, therefore there are many problems that are inefficiency, unhumane nursing and so forth. To expel these, the method of team nursing in existing hospitals was checked out and compared to that of foreign hospitals. The new type of plan of ward was accentuated to be accepted in the process of designing for team nursing. Secondly, the concept of designing ward is progressing to the patient-centered philosophy. And so, the demands of inpatients and their lifestyle in ward are significant. Therefore, inpatients were interviewed and their answers were analized and their behavior was surveyed in bahavioral maps and analized. Their demands and lifestyle are accentuated to be accepted in the process of designing wards.

  • This thesis aims to establish a criterion to determine the scale of emergency beds and emergency wards equipped in general hospitals in the suburbs of Seoul. A new, large hospital (over 1000 beds) located in the southeast area of Seoul was selected and investigated for the case of this study, and throuh the P.O.E. a few mistakes in the method of determining the scale of the emergency department there came to light. Joining together, the effectiveness of the scale determination method devised by us (Lee's formula) was verified, and finally the optimum scale of the emergency department for this general hospital was proposed.

  • Presently, the exploration of an unknown environment is an important task for the development of mobile robots and mobile robots are navigated by means of a number of methods, using navigating systems such as the sonar-sensing system or the visual-sensing system. To fully utilize the strengths of both the sonar and visual sensing systems, In mobile robotics, multi-sensor data fusion(MSDF) became useful method for navigation and collision avoiding. Moreover, their applicability for map building and navigation has exploited in recent years. In this paper, as the preliminary step for developing a multi-purpose autonomous carrier mobile robot to transport trolleys or heavy goods and serve as robotic nursing assistant in hospital wards. The aim of this paper is to present the use of multi-sensor data fusion such as ultrasonic sensor, IR sensor for mobile robot to navigate, and presents an experimental mobile robot designed to operate autonomously within indoor environments. Simulation results with a mobile robot will demonstrate the effectiveness of the discussed methods.

  • A generalization of the original ${\ddot{O}}pik's$ cellular convection theory has been made to accomodate a rotating convective medium. With the use of the formulation, a set of rotating model envelopes of the sun and late type main sequence stars have been constructed under three different rotation periods. Their thermal structures are presented and characteristics of their convection are discussed in the context of stellar dynamo. In the present study it is noted that the rotational angular velocity increases in wards with depth, and its increase turns out to be about 6% at the bottom of the solar convection zone.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine whether nurses' nonverbal communication predict clients' service satisfaction and to investigate the mediating effects of their trustworthiness between nurses' nonverbal communication and clients' service satisfaction in psychiatric wards. Methods: A convenience sample of 206 psychiatric inpatients was obtained. Participants completed a demographic sheet and three study instruments. Results: There were statistically significant positive relationships between nurses' nonverbal communication, trustworthiness and clients' satisfaction. Trustworthiness was found to partially mediate the relationship between nonverbal communication and clients' satisfaction. Conclusion: Clients' perception of nurses' nonverbal communication, trustworthiness and satisfaction on the nursing services have a strong relationship. Findings contribute to a more comprehensive knowledge base regarding nursing services.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce two integrated urban development projects in Japan that take full advantage of flood-control reservoirs: the Tetsugakudo Park Collective Housing Development Project and the Koshigaya Lake Town Project. The former project - implemented cooperatively by the Tokyo metropolitan government in charge of river management, Shinjuku and Nakano wards (in Tokyo) responsible for park management, and the Urban Renaissance Agency, a housing project developer - set a significant precedent for three-dimensional river use by realizing the three-dimensional integrated development of a flood control reservoir, a park, and collective housing. The Koshigaya Lake Town Project, launched as a drastic storm water management measure for a low-lying area often plagued by flooding, has achieved a sustainable coexistence between the waterfront environment and the urban living environment, with an artificial flood-control reservoir as the core for urban development. This project is fully committed to environmental coexistence through the optimal use of local environmental resources, with the cooperation of the central government, Saitama Prefecture and Koshigaya City.

  • In this study, we identify the variables that affect the number of crime and spatial correlation in the Seoul metropolitan area, in addition, we measure the relative risk on the incidence of crime by a Poisson regression model. We suggest a statistical methodology to make a risk map for crime based on relative risk instead of the total event of crime by region using the Geographic Information System. To demonstrate the use and advantages of this methodology, this study presents an analyses of the total crime count in 25 wards in the Seoul metropolitan area.

  • The occurrence of the shift work disorder (SWD) in health-care workers (HCWs) employed in 24/7 hospital wards is a major concern through the world. In accordance with literature, SWD is the most frequent work-related disturb in HCWs working on shift schedules including night shift. In agreement with the Luxembourg Declaration on workplace health promotion (WHP) in the European Union, a WHP program has been developed in a large Hospital, involving both individual-oriented and organizational-oriented measures, with the aim to prevent the occurrence of SWD in nurses working on shifts including night shift. The objective assessment of rotating shift work risk and the excessive sleepiness were detected before and after the implementation of the WHP program, by using the Rotating Shiftwork-questionnaire and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale. The findings of this study showed the effectiveness of the implemented WHP program in minimizing the impact of shift work on workers' health and in preventing the misalignment between sleep-wake rhythm and shift working.
