  • Tidal variations of various chemical constituents in the laver bed sea waters in Wan Do Gun were determined over one spring tidal cycle from Oct. 1968 to Feb. 1969. Total ranges and means of the contents at Pyung-il Do and Wan Do are as follows. Although the average monthly variations of each content at Pyung-il Do were similar to those at Wan Do, most of the contents at Pyung-il Do were at a slightly higher level than at Wan Do. The values of silicate-silicon, phosphate- phosphorus and soluble iron, however, showed high levels at Wan Do. Chlorinity, magnesium, calcium, dissolved oxygen, silicate-silicon and phosphate-phosphorus contents increased from Oct. 1968 to Feb. 1969, though the content of soluble iron decreased before December and slightly increased in January and February. The average monthly variations of ammonia-nitrogen and nitrate-nitrogen contents were irregular. The nitrite-nitrogen content appeared in trace amounts in the months with a comparatively high water temperature, i.e., October and November, but in midwinter it was undetected. The ranges of the tidal variations of the contents of each chemical constituent were not significantly wide, though the contents varied excessively by the hour, and this may show the irregularity of the water quality in Wan Do Gun coastal area. As a rule, no regular tidal variation of the chlorinity was observed except slightly decreased value at ebb tide at Wan Do. In general, although the pattern of the variations of calcium and magnesium contents were similar to that of the chlorinity, no definite relationships between these constituents and chlorinity were observed. Tidal variations of the dissolved oxygen content, nutrient salts and soluble iron were irregular.

  • Until a recent date Wan-do Port has made efforts to advance its marine policy toward the base of marine distribution industry. Therefore the administration of Wan-do port has carried out many projects on improvements of harbour system very actively. The improvement of ship traffic system would be one of them. This research examined the general view of present situations of marine traffic system in Wan-do waters area and suggested improvements in ship route and anchorage.

  • Now it is said that the insufficency of the designated anchorage for ships in approaching waters of Wan-do port is one of reasons for marine safety accidents, when they encounter rough weather near the port. This research examined geographical feature in approaching areas of Wan-do port and suggested appropriate mate weather anchorage. The situations of fishing nets were investigated Marine vessel traffic flow was also examined The optimal anchorage was suggested considering these results.

  • This study aimed to evaluate the vulnerability to different natural hazards such as flood, drought, and abnormal climate, and to classify the vulnerability patterns in Gyeongsangnam-do. The damage records and annual budgets during 2000 to 2009 were collected and were ranked for all twelve si-guns. Sancheong-gun and Hamyang-gun resulted in the most vulnerable to flood and drought damages, and Hadong-gun and Yangsan-si were most damaged from abnormal climate such as heavy snow and heavy wind. In addition, three clusters were classified by using Ward's method, and were interpreted. The results showed that the western areas of Gyeongsangnam-do might be more vulnerable to flood damage while drought might threaten the eastern si-guns.

  • To make a objective diagnosis of Dam Hun(痰暈), we investigated the 63 patients with Dam Hun(痰暈) and 34 normal people as control group. we compared the thermal difference between Chon-jung(CV17 ) and Chung-wan(CV12 中脘), Chon-jung(CV17 ) and Gwan-won(CV4 關元) and we compared the thermal difference of Yang-mun(ST21 梁門), Chun_chu(ST25 天樞), Su-do(ST28 水道), too. All 63 patients had dizziness and GI trouble. They had the symptom - fatigue, nausea vomitting, head heaviness, indigestion, cold limbs, headache, heart burn, constipation, diarrhea, anorexia. And some had edema, numbness, insomnia, palpitation, facial flushing, dysuria, ringing. Considering the average temparature of Chon-jung(CV17 ), Chung-wan(CV12 中脘), Gwan-won(CV4 關元), Yang-mun(ST21 梁門), Chun-chu(ST25 天樞), Su-do(ST28 水道) between the patients group and the control group, the patients group were lower than the control group except for Chon-jung(CV17 ), Gwan-won(CV4 關元), but the statistical significance was not. Considering the thermal difference of Chon-jung(CV17 ) and Chung-wan(CV12 中脘), Gwan-won(CV4 關元), Yang-mun(ST21 梁門), Chun-chu(ST25 天樞), Su-do(ST28 氷道) between the patients group and the control group, the temparature deviation of Chon-jung(CV17 ) and Chung-wan(CV12 中脘), Chon-jung(CV17 ) and Yang-mun(ST21 梁門) was significant. We suggest that coldness of upper abdomen is significant in diagnosis of Dam Hun(痰暈).
