  • Period which does an electric condition of panel in reset in the driving method of PDP is reset period. This research experimentally analyzed the priming discharge characteristic of reset period. The amount of wall charge and the accumulation time accumulated by priming discharge are unrelated to width of priming pulse. And, self-erase discharge has the relation in the amount of wall charge by priming discharge. Then, it relates also to space charge generated by priming discharge. Moreover, space charge which helps self-erase discharge exists to about 22$mutextrm{s}$ after generating priming discharge. And, it is suitable within 12$mutextrm{s}$ of priming pulse width for efficient reset.

  • In this study, new methods of PC panel connection using 'ㄷ'type steel connection is proposed for highly seismic zone. A study was carry out to investigate the connection behavior subjected to cyclic inelastic loading. Three planar type and two T type PC wall will be tested. The variables will be examined were the shear reinforcement existence of top and bottom walls. The specimens will be tested only reverse cyclic loading in accordance with a prescribed displacement history. To transfer the shear strength shear key set up between top and bottom wall. Failure mode, behavior, ductility and energy dissipation capacity of the specimens constructed by new connections wll be compared with those of monolithic walls and Han's(Han, Jun Hee, Seoul National University) model.

  • This paper proposes the new narrow erase method to erase wall charges formed in an AC plasma display panel (PDP) cell. In the proposed method, pulse timing of switch at the sustain period is adjusted for inducing, a weak discharge. Then, after the narrow erase, the voltage of the X electrode is set to differ from that of the Y electrode. For the proposed method, the measured maximum address voltage margin was 38.3V at Y_Rest voltage of 100V and sustain voltage of 180${\sim}$185V. However, for the conventional method, in which the X and Y electrodes are set to be of equal voltage after the narrow erase, the measured maximum address voltage margin was 31.3V at Y_Rest voltage of 150V and sustain voltage of 180V. This result shows that the measured maximum voltage margin for the proposed method is about 7V(22%) higher than that for the conventional method.

  • The purpose of this paper, having chosen the connection method, filled by High-strength mortar, in conncetion of PC member, is to study the mechanical behaviour and practical usage of the method. The paper estimates the connection ability of Reinforced-bar, that is, Sleeve considering the effect of Reinforced-bar's dimeter. Sleeve's length and diameter in the structural behaviour of mortar-filled connection, therefore the behaviour of Splice-Sleeve exists in concrete practically. This paper discusses the effect of the concrete in Splice-Sleeve. Also, to estimate structural behaviour in a practical wall panel, the upper and bottom wall panels are produced and the behaviour of Splice-Sleeve is discussed. And then Vertical Tie Bar being designed by using Precast method, this paper presents the various application and the practicable method using Splice-Sleeve.

  • We have investigated the luminous efficiency of various cell resolution and structure from 50" FHD to 50" QFHD Plasma Display. The suggested test panels have two different cell array types which are the delta and matrix cell array type. The results showed that, in the case of the suggested QFHDs, the firing and sustain voltage were increased and voltage margin was decreased. These results are caused by the reduced wall voltage and increased charged particle loss, at the side wall. The luminance of the suggested QFHDs was lower from 20% to 40% than that of the suggested FHDs and the power consumption was higher from 42% to 83% than that of the suggested FHDs. In conclusion, the maximum luminous efficiency of the suggested QFHD(D110) has reached about 38%, compared with suggested FHDs($\fallingdotseq$ 2.7 lm/W).

  • In order to investigate the effect of the loading rate on the mechanical behavior of SRC shearwalls, we conducted the lateral loading tests on the 1/3 scale model shearwalls whose edge columns were reinforced by H-shaped steel. The specimens were subjected to the reversed cyclic lateral load under a variable axial load. The two types of loading rate, 0.01 cm/sec for the static loading and 1 cm/sec for the dynamic loading were adopted. The failure mode in all specimens was the sliding shear of the in-filled wall panel. The edge columns did not fail in shear. The initial lateral stiffness and lateral load carrying capacity of the shearwalls subjected to the dynamic loading were about 10% larger than those subjected to the static loading. The effects of the arrangement of the H-shaped steel on the lateral load carrying capacity and the lateral load-displacement hysteresis response were not significant.

  • In this paper, experimental investigations on the inelastic seismic behavior of tunnel form buildings (i.e., box-type or panel systems) are presented. Two four-story scaled building specimens were tested under quasi-static cyclic lateral loading in longitudinal and transverse directions. The experimental results and supplemental finite element simulations collectively indicate that lightly reinforced structural walls of tunnel form buildings may exhibit brittle flexural failure under seismic action. The global tension/compression couple triggers this failure mechanism by creating pure axial tension in outermost shear-walls. This type of failure takes place due to rupturing of longitudinal reinforcement without crushing of concrete, therefore is of particular interest in emphasizing the mode of failure that is not routinely considered during seismic design of shear-wall dominant structural systems.

  • This study examines the sound insulation of the light-weight wall using light-weight concrete and offers the basic datum for enhancing it. The sound insulation of the light-weight wall is determinated by the density, installation method, absorption materials, air layers etc. Among the factors, the solution of outlet that is the major cause of reducing sound insulation should be made. If absorption materials are installed in the cavity walls, it enhances to 15dB in 500Hz.

  • The main objective of this experimental research was to investigate the Seismic performance of reinforced concrete frames infilled with perforated clay brick masonry wall of a type commonly used in Algeria. Four one story-one bay reinforced concrete infilled frames of half scale of an existing building were tested at the National Earthquake Engineering Research Center Laboratory, CGS, Algeria. The experiments were carried out under a combined constant vertical and reversed cyclic lateral loading simulating seismic action. This experimental program was performed in order to evaluate the effect and the contribution of the infill masonry wall on the lateral stiffness, strength, ductility and failure mode of the reinforced concrete frames. Numerical models were developed and calibrated using the experimental results to match the load-drift envelope curve of the considered specimens. These models were used as a bench mark to assess the effect of normalized axial load on the seismic performance of the RC frames with and without masonry panels. The main experimental and analytical results are presented in this paper.
