This study focuses on reinforcement agents for wall damage, such as cracks, breakage, or delamination, for mural paintings from the Payathonzu temple. Experiments were conducted with filling and grouting agents based on the reinforcing method. In the filling reinforcement experiment, different mixing ratios of lime to sand, and additives (jaggery, seaweed glue, and Primal SF-016) were used. In the grouting reinforcement experiment, the mixing ratio of lime and pozzolan was the same, and the additive types were identical to the filling reinforcement experiment. The filling reinforcement experiment showed that there were fewer physical changes such as contraction, with a greater mixing ratio of lime to sand, however, the compressive strength decreased as the mixing ratio increased. With additives, the change in volume of agent decreased and the compressive strength increased, which was especially prominent for jaggery and Primal SF-016. The grouting reinforcement experiment showed that there was a remarkable contraction with an increased amount of moisture that originates from the characteristic of grouting agents that requires flowability. With additives, the water content of the agent decreased, whereas the compressive strength and adhesion increased. Among the additives, Primal SF-016 exhibited the highest compressive strength, and seaweed glue exhibited the most considerable viscosity and adhesion. The study results showed that the characteristics of reinforcement agents vary according to the mixing ratio and additives of the filling and grouting agents. Therefore, it is necessary to selectively apply the mixing ratio and additives for different reinforcement agents considering the wall damage for conservation treatments.
Hollow mesoporous carbon nitride material with sphere shape was synthesized using polystyrene sphere as template and cyanamide as nitrogen and carbon atom sources via thermal treatment process. The process of the silica removal is not necessary because silica as template is not in use for the synthesis of hollow mesoporous carbon nitride material and any solvents are also not in use. The size of polystyrene spheres was about 170 nm. Hollow diameter and wall thickness were 82 nm and 13 nm, respectively, in hollow mesoporous carbon nitride sphere. Surface area, mesopore size and pore volume of hollow mesoporous carbon nitride material was $188m^2g^{-1}$, 3.8 nm and $0.35cm^3g^{-1}$, respectively. The wall in hollow sphere has graphitic structure. Hollow mesoporous carbon nitride material has potential applications in the area of fuel cell, catalysis, photocatalysis, electroemmision device, etc.
The purpose of this study was to compare the apical leakage and adaptation to the dentinal wall of a glass ionomer root canal cement(Ketac-Endo) with those of AH-26 and Tubli-Seal. 102 single-rooted teeth were insrumented with step-back technique and randomly divided into four groups according to kinds of root canal cements: Ketac-Endo, AH-26, Tubli-Seal, and no root canal cement. Four experimental groups were as follows; Group 1 : Filling with gutta-percha and Ketac-Endo Group 2 : Filling with gutta-percha and AH-26 Group 3 : Filling with gutta-percha and Tubli-Seal Group 4 : Filling with gutta-percha without root canal cement All the specimens were obturated with lateral condensation technique, and stored in 100% humidity for 4 days. 20 teeth in each group were placed in centrifuge tube filled with India ink, and then centrifuged for 20 minutes at 3,000 rpm. And they were evaluated for linear dye leakage using a stereoscope and analyzed by one-way ANOVA. 22 teeth were split longitudinally and evaluated the adaptation to the dentinal wall using scanning electron microscope(4 teeth in each group) and stereoscope(2 teeth in 1, 2, 3 group). The obtained results were as follows ; 1. In case of not used root canal cement(Group 4), there was showed much degree of dye penetration comparerd with used root canal cements (Group 1, 2, 3)(P<0.01). 2. In the case of used root canal cements(Group 1, 2, 3), there was no significant difference in linear leakage in groups(P>0.01). 3. In the case of used root canal cements(Group 1, 2, 3), there was showed intimate adaptation to the dentinal wall independent on kinds of root canal cements. 4. Fractured surfaces indicated failure of cohesion in Ketac-Endo, and failure of adhesion to dentine in AH-26 and Tubli-Seal. 5. According to similar apical leakage and adaptability to the dentinal wall to another root canal cements, it is possible to be used glass-ionomer cement as root canal cement.
A 15 years Old girl was admitted with chief complaints of intermittent claudication of lower extremity, dizziness, and headache for 5 years. On admission, malignant hypertension was noted in the upper part of body [190-150/120-110] but femoral & dorsalis pedis pulse could not palpate. Once she had experienced C. V. A. due to hypertension of upper part, about years ago. On auscultation, systolic murmur was audible along the left sternal border. E.C.G. Showed left ventricular hypertrophy pattern, and others within normal limit. Retrograde aortography demonstrated diffuse narrowing of entire thoracic aorta with underdeveloped lower abdominal aorta [below the renal artery] & both common lilac artery, and rich collaterals, but normally visualized greater arteries in the aortic arch. On left posterolasteral thoracotomy, entire descending thoracic aorta revealed marked narrowing with mild perivascular adhesion, but no mediastinal pleura adhesion. These findings suggest as congenital type of atypical coarctation in the entire thoracic aorta with mild secondary change. But histopathology was showed the findings of chronic non-specific aortitis, later. Dacron by pass graft was performed with end to side anastomosis between graft and aortic wall. After operation, all her preoperative symptoms & signs were disappeared, and discharged with good general condition.

Nondestructive sensing of electrospun PYDF web and multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/epoxy composites were investigated using electro-micromechanical technique. Electrospinning is a technique used to produce micron to submicron diameter polymeric fibers. Electrospun PVDF web was also evaluated for the sensing properties by micromechanical test and by measurement electrical resistance. CNT composite was especially prepared for high volume contents, 50 vol% of reinforcement. Electrical contact resistivity on humidity sensing was a good indicator for monitoring as for multifunctional applications. Work of adhesion using contact angle measurement was studied to correlate acid-base surface energy between carbon fiber and CNF composites, and will study furher for interfacial adhesion force by micromechanical test.

Using biodegradable polycaprolactone, the microcapsules were prepared by solvent evaporation method. Retinol was selected as a core material, which was used as an important ingredient material in cosmetic fields. Poly(vinyl alcohol) was used as a stabilizer. The shape and property of the microcapsules were characterized by scanning electron microscope and differential scanning calorimeter, and the release rate of the microcapsule was measured by UV spectrophotometer. The microcapsules were prepared, changing the concentration of wall material, the stirring rate, and the concentration of stabilizer. Under the optimum condition, the microcapsules were formed, which showd 5~6 um in diameter and got the homogeneous sphere shape.
Sulfonated poly (ethyleneoxide)-grafted polyurethane (PU-PEO-$SO_3$) prepared by bulk modification was coated on a blood sac for electrohydraulic left ventricular assist device (ELVAD) implanted in dogs and its in vivo blood compatibility on shear stress was studied as compared with untreated Po. The effect of the wall shear stress on the protein adsorption unlike platelet adhesion is dependent on the surface characteristics of the material, although less proteins seem to be adsorbed in the region of the high shear stress. The thickness of total proteins adsorbed on PU-PEO-SOJ (400 ${\AA}$) by trans¬mission electron microscopy(TEM) was considerably lower than that of untreated PU(l,000~1,600 ${\AA}$), but PU-PEO-$SO_3$ showed high albumin adsorption, low fibrinogen and IgG adsorption, and low platelet adhesion as compared with untreated PU, suggesting that PU-PEO-$SO_3$ is more in vivo blood compatible. Therefore, it appears that such a blood compatible PU-PEO-$SO_3$ is useful for blood contacting biomaterials including artificial organs.
In the present study, we synthesized mesoporous silica hollow spheres with different wall thickness using polystyrene (PS) spheres as a structure template, tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) as a silica source, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a template. Particle size and dispersion of PS spheres were strongly depended on the concentration of surfactant in the aqueous solutions. The size of PS spheres was increased with decreasing concentration of surfactants. Dispersion of PS particle was improved when the surfactant concentration was lower than 0.5 g of surfactant.
The ultimate goal of periodontal therapy is the regeneration of periodontal tissue and repair of function. For more than a decade there have been many efforts to develop materials and bioactive molecule(such as growth factor and differentiation factors) to promote periodontal wound healing. Among the bioactive molecules, bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) was studied for periodontal wound healing. Since Urist demonstrated that demineralized bone matrix could induce the formation of cartilage and bone in ectopic site, many studies on BMP have been reported. Among those BMPs, it was reported that rhBMP-2 enhanced the healing of bone defects in animal studies and clinical studies. However, its efficacy in periodontal regeneration, especially 1-wall intrabony defects is still unknown. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of rhBMP-2/ACS on the epithelial migration, gingival connective tissue adhesion, cementum formation, alveolar bone regeneration in intrabony defects of dogs. Four millimeter deep and four millimeter wide 1-wall defects were surgically created in the mesial aspects of the 3rd incisors. The test group received rhBMP-2/ACS with a flap procedure and the control underwent buffer/ACS with a flap procedure. Histologic analysis after 8 weeks of healing revealed the following results: 1. The length of epithelial growth(the distance from alveolar crest to the apical end of JE) was $0.9{\pm}1.5mm$ in the control group and $1.2{\pm}1.4mm$ in the test group. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. 2. The length of connective tissue adhesion was $2.4{\pm}1.3mm$ in the control group and $1.2{\pm}1.1mm$ in the test group. The control group showed significantly enhanced adhesion(P<0.05). 3. The length of new cementum was $0.9{\pm}1.0mm$ in the control group and $1.7{\pm}0.8mm$ in the test group. The test group showed significantly enhanced cementum regeneration(P<0.05). 4. The length of new bone height was $1.9{\pm}0.6mm$ in the control group and $2.4{\pm}0.9mm$ in the test group. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. 5. The new bone area was $4.7{\pm}1.7mm^2$ in the control group and $8.0{\pm}2.0mm^2$ in the test group. The test group showed significantly enhanced bone formed area(P<0.05). 6. The new bone density was $73.0{\pm}8.6%$ in the control group and $66.6{\pm}15.3%$ in the test group. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. These results suggest that the use of rhBMP-2 in 1-wall intrabony defects has significant effect on new cementum and new bone formation area, but doesn't have any significant effect on the prevention of junctional epithelium migration and new bone formation height.
UV-curable aliphatic epoxy acrylates were prepared by the reaction of glycerol diglycidyl ether (GDE) with 2-carboxyethyl acrylate (2-CEA) or 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (2-HEA). The structures of the epoxy acrylates were characterized by FT-IR, $^1H$-NMR, and $^{13}C$-NMR and the yield was obtained by prep-LC. The UV- and the thermal-curing behaviors of the product were investigated using photo-DSC and DSC, respectively. The reactivity of 2-CEA was higher than 2-HEA and the yield of the product (GEA-C) which was prepared using 2-CEA was about 83%. The maximum UV-curing time ($T_{max}$) of the GEA-C contained non-reactive components and by-product was about 10 seconds. The GEA-C showed low color difference (${\Delta}E^*$), low viscosity, and good thermal stability - its value was 2.51, 192 cps, and $299^{\circ}C$ (at 5% weight loss), respectively. The activation energies ($E_a$) of thermal-curing reaction calculated from Kissinger and Ozawa-Flynn-Wall method were 91~92 kJ/mol.
