걷고 싶은 거리조성을 위한 도심녹지 확보 방안 (Development of Urban Green Infrastructure by promoting Walkability)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the methodology for introducing green infrastructure that can improve the health of citizens by promoting walkability. The methodology is composed of the following three phases: classification of the types of green spaces, selection of core green spaces with two separate analyses, and introduction of the framework of green infrastructure to promote walkability. In the first phase, the classification of the types of green spaces was carried out in order to understand existing distribution pattern of green spaces in study site. In the second phase, walkable blocks were selected by such methods as walkability value. Through these two analyses, all the blocks were divided into three groups according to the ranking figured up the second analyses' results. The blocks in the first group, the group involved in the top 30% and having the greatest ranking, were defined as walkable blocks. In the last phase, a basic frame of the green infrastructure in study site was introduced by connecting the walkable blocks with using other blocks and the green spaces over 1ha. In case study, 28 important green spaces and 35 walkable blocks were selected through the two analysis process. Then, the basic framework of green infrastructure based on the selected 28 important green spaces and 35 walkable blocks was introduced. The methodology applied to this study can be used to get the best selections of the proper green infrastructure in accordance with the purpose of the ecological and recreational local development. In particular, this study will suggest a specific analysis model to use for the ecological and walkable urban planning with green spaces existing in the city.

다수준모형을 이용한 보행친화적환경이 공동주택 전세가격에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Effect of Walking Environment (Characteristics) on Apartment Housing Rental Prices using Multi-Level Model)

  • 본 연구는 공동주택의 부산광역시 554개 국가기초구역과 1832세대의 개별세대주택을 대상으로, 기존의 건축 단지특성과 보행친화특성이 공동주택가격에 끼치는 영향에 대하여 분석하였다. 개별세대주택과 국가기초구역의 다양한 공간구역 특성을 바탕으로 보다 정확한 다층적인 분석을 위해, multi-level models 을 이용하였다. 분석 결과, Level-2의 국가기초구역별 보행친화특성은 전체분산의 약 77%를 잠재적으로 설명하였으며, 그 중 범죄안전특성에서 가장 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 이전연구에서 많이 다뤄졌던 개별세대 공동주택별 분석보다, 한국에서 새롭게 제정된 국가기초구역에 따른 공간별 분석이 더욱 전체적으로 의미가 있다는 것을 의미한다. 이 연구결과는 요동치는 한국의 주택가격을 건강하고 안정적으로 유지할 수 있는 보행친화적인 도시설계 및 주택정책에 기여할 수 있을 것이라 생각한다.

전주시 객사길 보행자 중심 걷고 싶은 거리 설계 - 주민참여형 가로설계 - (The Walkable Street Design for 'Gaeksa-gil' of Jeonju City - Community Participatory Street Design -)

  • This paper presents a streetscape design for the 'Gaeksa-gil', located in Gosa-dong and Jungang-dong, Jeonju City, which length is about 830m and width is about $8\sim10m$. The goals of the design are to make a street on which people want to walk and rest both safely and pleasantly. To achieve these goals; concepts of identity, history, placeness, commercial vitality, environmentally-friendliness, safety, amenity , and democracy have been developed. For the pedestrian safety; shared street concepts, such as crank, salalom, fort, mini-rotary etc. are adopted. For design method, community participatory design is adapted. For the design theme; the axes of Time and Space are developed and streets are divided into 3 thematic spaces, such as 'History Street,' 'Nature Street,' and 'Culture Street.' The History Street, which belongs to Time axis, is a space for experiencing past, present, and future history of Jeonju city. Nature Street, which belongs to Space axis, is a space for feeling and loaming the nature of the city. The Culture Street, which also belongs to Space axis, is a space for experiencing the culture of the city. The community participated in the whole design process through the workshop, the internet website, the street events, etc.

Lesson for New Urbanism from the Traditional Space in East Asia

  • Industrialization has accelerated the expansion of mobility to the urban areas, land use for function of residence and consumption. With the urbanization, the management and distribution of the physical space of the city and rational design have also become major issues. Rapid and widespread urbanization has consistently accumulated problems of natural, physical, environmental, and psychological circumstances, and most of urban areas have begun to focus on restoring an efficient, safe and healthy urban environment to improve of the quality of life since the latter half of the 20th century, New-Urbanism is a new urban development paradigm that resembles the practical implications of a shared economy for social, economic and environmental cost reduction.. The geographical significance of the sharing city's concept of the alleys is to revitalize sustainable cities while restoring the attractive elements of the city. This study examines the lessons of New-Urbanism in those traditional urban space comparing with each East Asia's cities such as golmok (alley or backlane) in Seoul, Huton in Beijing, Lilong in Shanghai, and Roji in Japan. This study diagnoses whether main principals of New-Urbanism such as development of good community and walkable pedestrian route, restoration of regional identity and sense of the place, and mitigation of climate change strategy can be practiced in the community of alley as well.

현대도시 보행공간의 시각화를 위한 기초연구 - 외부공간의 보행자 통행 가능성 판별기준을 중심으로 - (A Preliminary Study for Mapping Pedestrian Spaces in the City - Based on Pedestrian Traversability in Open Space -)

  • There has been various pedestrian-friendly planning for making walkable cities. However, the representation of urban pedestrian spaces that should be the basis of the pedestrian-friendly planning tends to be far from reality. This is due to the absence of a consensual way to represent pedestrian spaces in the city. In this context, this study aims to propose a method to properly represent pedestrian spaces. For this purpose, this study first reviews the patterns of representing pedestrian spaces appearing on city maps and examines their merits and limits. After that, the criteria of pedestrian traversability and the mapping method are proposed on a trial basis for representing pedestrian spaces. Then, applying this to the case sites, Mokdong and Euljiro, this paper demonstrates how the operation of representing pedestrian spaces works. It is expected that the results of this study would be used as the basic foundation for a more developed representation of effective pedestrian-friendly planning.

안전성 제고를 위한 주거지역 도로공간 정비방향 (A study on improvement of road spaces in the residential area for the increase of safety)

  • The pedestrian space of the street is one of the most important public places in the city. Sidewalks are the paths that everyone travels, and the spaces in which everyone comes together. By Whatever means they travel, everyone is ultimately a pedestrian during their journey through the residential area. Every year, more than six thousand Koreans are victimized by traffic accidents, and a half of them are pedestrians. This study aims at improving the pedestrian environment in residential area, and thus making road a walkable, pedestrian-friendly space. The study reviews the problems in the pedestrian environment of residential area and proposes improvement strategies.

Making a Townscape of Life World -The Meaning and Issues in Korean Cases-

  • A townscape has both aspects of seeing and living. However, the main streams of townscape making have been mostly focused on the former perspective so far. Such trends are apt to lack the realities of urban living. In this view, a prerequisite to complement the existing formalistic view with this realistic one is needed in order to accomplish the holistic characteristics of a townscape. Many city governments of Korea are currently trying to improve the quality of living quarters by providing diverse kinds of open spaces such as vest-pocket parks, pedestrian-friendly streets, and supporting the residents participatory village making. In this context, this paper will review the possibilities of the realistic approaches in townscape making by examining some current cases being tried in Korea cities. In conclusion some main issues to be solved in future can be listed as the conflict between general citizen′s view and the residents′ view", the conflict between social aspects and aesthetical aspects" and the conflict between the tradition and the vernacular reality in design".

자동차가 환경적으로 지속가능한 도시교통에 미치는 영향 (The Environmental Impact of Automobiles on Sustainable Urban Transportation)

  • As of July 1997, the registered number of automobiles exceeded 10 million and Korean auto industry produced 2,850,000 cars. Many environmentalists warn that the passenger cars are not sustainable urban transportation system in large cities. The cars produce about 80% of air pollutants, and consume 30% of petroleum imported. For the past 30 years the administration increased the road system, but the length of road per car is decreased from 813m in 1965 to 9m in 1995. The cost of traffic congestion was estimated to be \14.7 trillion in 1996, and is feared to increase without changing the present transportation system. The undesirable impact of cars include the casualties from traffic accidents, insurance loss, and separation of human relatioships. To construct sustainable urban transportation system, three principles should be followed. The first principle is to make the urban streets walkable for the people. The second principle is to encourage bicycling. Roads and traffic systems should be designed to let bicylces travel safely. The third principle is to supply more buses and construct integrated transportation system based on buses. The subway system is too expensive to construct and without the support of a well-organized bus system it may not work efficiently. The Brazilian city of Curitiba has constructed a very efficient bus system only with 1/80 of the estimated cost of subway system. The car-oriented transportation system does not seem to be an envrironmentally sustainable transportation system in most of the Korean cities.

비신호 교차로에서 횡단 기다림 시간 및 시도횟수에 관한 보행행태 연구 (Analysis on Pedestrian Behavior Focused on Waiting Time and Trial Frequency for Crossing in the Unsignalized Intersection)

  • 본 논문은 무신호 교차로에서 보행자의 횡단행태에 영향을 주는 요소를 분석하였다. 보행행태는 교차로 주변의 환경과 횡단의 기준, 안전에 대한 예견, 순간적인 판단 등이 복합적으로 작용하는 정신적 스트레스의 결과이다. 이러한 복합적 스트레스는 개인의 속성, 교통여건, 환경요인 등 다양한 요인에 의해 영향을 받는데, 이러한 영향요인을 파악하여 교차로를 운영하는데 있어 보행친화적인 환경을 조성할 필요가 있다. 현장과 설문 조사를 통하여 보행자가 비신호 교차로를 횡단하는데 있어서 영향을 주는 다양한 결정변수를 기초로 하여 횡단시도 횟수, 기다림 시간 및 보행횡단 만족도 등에 대한 횡단행태를 분석하는 것이 목적이다. 횡단시도횟수에 대한 각 요소별 특성을 분석하기 위해 $x^2$테스트를 실시하였으며 횡단을 위한 기다림 시간에 영향을 주는 요소를 분석하기 위해 위험률 모형을 구축하였다. 마지막으로 구조방정식을 적용하여 보행자의 보행 횡단 환경에 대한 만족도에 대한 직 간접 효과도 제시되었다.

천안 구도심 명동지역 도시재생 전략수립 연구 (Schematic Regeneration Strategy of Old Downtown, Myeongdong, in Cheonan)

  • 1970~1980년대의 급격한 경제개발과 도시의 발전 이후 현재에 들어 당시에 개발된 원도심지의 노후화와 기존기능이 빠르게 빠져나가는 도심공동화 현상이 발생하면서 근래에 도시재생이 도시계획 및 도시개발의 새로운 키워드로 등장하였다. 천안의 구도심인 명동지역(중앙동, 문성동)또한 공동화 현상이 급격하게 진행되면서 천안시에서는 재개발 및 활성화 사업을 진행하였지만 효과를 거두지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이론적 고찰을 통해 도시재생 및 TOD개발 관련 사례를 분석해보고 명동지역의 현황분석을 통해 명동지역의 발전 및 공동화 이유와 기존 활성화 사업의 문제점을 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 명동지역의 새로운 활성화 계획을 제안하였다. 활성화 계획의 내용을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1)명동지역의 경우 버스터미널과 천안역, 중앙시장까지 어우르는 도시흐름을 형성하는 하나의 결절점으로 고려되어야 하며, 2)민자역사유치, 지하상가와 연결된 쇼핑루트 개발, 통합 환승센터 및 이를 중심으로 한 마켓단지조성, 동남구청 부지의 문화센터 개발 및 예술공원 등의 개발이 서로 연계하여 이루어져야 한다.
